  • This is why I hate Jil Jon and Nicki Minaj, they purposly encourage the idea that blacks are dumb animals just because it makes them money.

  • Black people will never stop bashing each other! Why is it that White Actors can play complex and gritty characters but when Black Actors do they are bashed? Precious highlighted a serious global issue which is child abuse/incest/rape. The acting in that movie was outstanding. Black comedy actors who act silly are called menstrals but White comedians who act just as silly (Jim Carey) aren't told they are bringing down the race. A lot of Blacks said the Cosby show was fake! They can't win!

  • you are so hilarious! I love your onscreen persona! So refreshing and your voice is cool too - i can't place the accent - east coast maybe?

  • @hopover1 yea hes from philly!

  • Don't blame the actors - 99.9% never become known to most - so if stereotypes gets them in, they'd be stupid not to, I would myself if I happen to fit some other stereotype.

The only way it could change is for more to do it - and the talented ones then select their roles, like Sidney Poitier, Sam Jackson, Halle Berry, etc.

  • "WHY NOT?"

  • Most Italians play mobsters...so what. Acting is acting...funny if you were given a million dollars to play in a movie as a gangster or drug dealer, I doubt you would turn it down.

  • some of these movies with black people are based on real life situations, maybe thats why -__-

  • Oh and would you really have a white woman or latin women or asian woman play "Precious"? Think about it. >_>

  • @SutoikkuSenkai WHY NOT??

  • @NORIEGA200 Because, as I assume, the original character is of African descent. When it comes to actors and characters there's gotta be an element of realism in there somewhere. That wouldn't be true to the original medium had 'Precious' been any other ethnicity. Common sense. Just saying.

  • @SutoikkuSenkai I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE CHARACTER IN THE BOOK, (WHICH I HAVE READ). SO WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THING.

  • @NORIEGA200 Oh, okay....than why did you respond by double talking? :p

  • @SutoikkuSenkai DOUBLE TALKING???

  • In order to be prosperous in life you have to first accept yourself and reality. Only then can you make a difference. The fight starts from within, not outside looking in.

  • I searched youtube up and down for a video on the "intersectionality" of race and acting and this was the closest catch. I'm not being mean when I say that your video is a complete generalization. Stereotypes are not fictional they are based on reality and the way people present themselves. Actors mimic that, no matter what color, to the best of their abilities. Now, it would be easier to just focus on the good that known black actors do: creating opportunities. It always comes back to this.

  • Why are you threatened by what black actors stereotype you as unless it's true?

  • @ssbmloler

repeat that again. no sense. It matters cause it ISN"T true, you wouldn't like it if i just said that your a stupid asshole who has nothing to live for cause is obviously not true.

  • I agree. I am not a fan of Black shows or movies, but have had several occasions to see them and just think that it's trash. How can some of these people live with themselves, knowing what they are putting out into the world?

  • Oh and while you cry yourself a river, try being a Hispanic in America. At least you are considered American,&they were here first! At least black people are given affirmative rights and they are NOT portrayed with nearly the crap that Hispanics get, and now, even the "worst" "thugs" are 1)dramatizations of reality--shit happens, and black crime rates are normalizing but have been higher historically! and 2)sympathized w/--for a BLACK, it's cause he had it hard.Same scene for white=trailer trash.

  • @122172639 affirmative action isn't just for blacks but for any non white people

  • @jon8342 That has nothing to do with my comment. This video is about films and depictions of minorities... Nothing I stated is about affirmative ACTION(hiring minorities w/equal qualifications); affirmative rights deals with civil equality from officials in particular, like how black people in America--even if they came here illegally/overstayed a refugee welcome as is a very real problem--do not get treated as non-American vs Hispanic CITIZENS being ID'd/arrested JUST LIKE blacks used to be.

  • @jon8342 Actually, the largest beneficiaries of AA are white women. I'll bet they didn't tell you that.

  • Yeah, see if you get offered a job from Spike Lee for 3 million bucks that shows you in a ghetto playing a criminal.See if you turn it up. Hollywood shows whities being mobsters, dope heads, rapists... Hollywood shows EVERYONE in extreme bad light. At least when it is black actors, there tends to be sympathy; whites are just jackasses when THEY are bad guys.Who the hell is Denzel Washington, again? When does Morgan Freeman end up looking like a pansy, a jackass, anything but an incredible man??

  • "Making 'their people' look bad"? Who ARE "their people"? Let me see here, you, as someone who ALSO gets the chance of making a lot of money, think that black people who are offered $10 million to do a role that somehow is demeaning in your mind, should be altruistic and turn that money down? Interesting... I don't think I've ever seen a modern black actor play a demeaning role, except maybe the Chief of Police of the President...

  • i agree...

  • How about we stop depending on white people to show us in a positive light and we show ourselves in a positive light.

  • I agree, check out lenonhonrofilms he exposes this in much detail.

  • man this is a good vid..very interesting

  • Copy paste "helium does hollywood negative whole world" in google. 64% says yes.

  • I agree with your points, but it's like complaining about a pizza because the meatballs are stale, when the whole pizza is rotten.

  • One of the main things that frustrate me about America is too much looking inwards like civil war, not enough looking at the big picture. Both sides are guilty of it. There is a whole world out there. I am from a different country, I see points for both sides. I lose respect for Black issues when topics like this are made though, because there are alot of bad points about Hollywood is this is only one of them. Hollywood doesn't poison black society, Hollywood affects the whole world.

  • The issue here isn't if Hollywood is against blacks, or if blacks have done anything wrong. The issue is Hollywood fullstop, and it's negative influences on all society, not just black society. Superficialness, over commercialisation, plastic surgery, greed, corruption, negative stereotypes, uneducated youth learning life through movies and tv etc etc is the problem. Black race issues play such a small part in the big picture. Step back and look at society as a whole, not just one part of it.

  • But thats the culture blacks created and religiously follow. actors are actors who cares thats the characters. if people didnt really act like that it would be different.

  • I totally agree with everything you said. I personally think that as entertainers, black ppl have taken a couple of steps back. The early to mid 90s was the best time to be a black actor even though we were struggling compared to pretty much everyone else. It seems like as a black actor you have to put yourself in a box for ppl to see you and take you seriously and when you're not in a movie involving Madea, Jesus, or keepin it gangsta ppl wanna look at u funny.

  • I'd have to disagree Jaylove, I don't think that anyone is trying to put them in a bad light i think by them doing this by not going to college they bring it up on themselves.. What I do think tho, is they have every right to go for the paycheck, they want their family out of poverty they want that big paycheck, let them go for it if they get lucky.

  • No the black hollywood actors aren't naive they are Boule which is closely connected to the illuminati, look it up if you don't believe me.

  • Man, I can relate. I didn't live in da hood for too long. I eventually moved up the street (literally) to the more Suburb area so to speak. My momma struggled (rest her soul) Stressed struggled paycheck to paycheck trying to give me and my siblings a great life. And this is exalted in the media like "from struggle builds character" It does, however the "American Dream" that gets waived in our face, is so inticing that momma will work her fingers to the bone and die to give this stupid media life

  • Basically Black People if you see a movie that looks like its filled with black stereotypes and what not or shall I say a "Nigga film." Dont watch. Just dont watch it. Look at the trailer, look at the poster, but do not under any circumstance, pay or even bootleg that movie. Just move on. If you pay for it then your part of the problem.

This is for profit, so if no one buys it, they wont make it. If someone does buy, they will make sure they make another one that is just as bad if not worse.

  • THIS is why I love Dave Chappelle! Stupid tom ass niggas thinking he went "carzy". stupid niggas. one can expect that from the white community but us dumb negroes think that if we turn down $ over peace of mind we're crazy. that's why we never have peace of mind, ohh & umm peace (:

  • Thousands of white kids do NOT go to college. Again this stereotyping of people is such a easy thing to do. Many blacks that go to college know that the road to being a professional athlete or entertainer is NOT a easy career to get into. What your saying about minority roles is true but that is the fault of black public that supports those kind of films, TV shows. And of course if your poor you will go for the money job if it's honest work go for it once you established then choose good roles

  • Denzel didn't seem all that thrilled to accept his award for Training Day, where as Halle Berry played the role of the overly grateful coon...

  • I hated that film "Preicous". Notice how everyone in the movie that helps her are lightskin.

The doctor that delivers her baby, the teacher that loves her, Mariah Careys character.

  • I wasn't even much focused on that. It could be a coincidence or it could be that there arent to many dark skinned actors. Precious wanted a light-skinned boyfriend anyway. It just supports the theme about the movie. But who cares anyway??? Maybe you should get up there and show theme what a good actor YOU can be. Theres only two types of black people: black people who do something about it and black people who sit on their asses. Stop blaming every thing on your skin color, that's TOO typical.

  • To ElCierto,

" it could be that there arent to many dark skinned actors."

    Surely you're not THAT ignorant:/

As for the rest of your comment what the fuck are you talking about???

Where did I mention blaming everything on my skin colour. Please don't project your insecurities onto me.

I just said I hated the film because it played on TOO MANY sterotypes, if you can't see the problem with that, then you're a nimrod.

  • No Im not ignorant at all. Especially sense I dont complain about silly things. Obviosly you know more about acting. By the way I said "or it could be a coincidence." If your gonna quote me quote me right and all the way. I was just being suggestive. i'm just trying to make an effort to eliminate all the prejudice in this world and be optimistic. And NO I am not insecure about anything. I didn't even know you would take my comment as an insult, but maybe a pat on the back:My apologies to you.

  • @brightlights456X Huh Bruh! I just realized that when you said it. What a fucking FAIL! You never see black love scenes anymore. All you see is Precious scenes and ish. Man! I don't even watch TV anymore. I'm the adult that I though I didn't want to become because now I see the light. I can't understand what these rappers are saying anymore. Lil wayne wanna kill his "bitch" Now we gonna have the youngin' desensitized and ready to slap up they ole lady cause of this evil f'n media. Good point tho

  • Jaylove I agree with your analogy on crabs in a bucket because it's correct why do you think they call the slums the projects? It's because thats exactly what it is a fucking project a science project to see what would happen if you put a bunch of unemployed people together without any hope and now they know. Just like in other countries like germany, russia, because poverty knows no color but white folks who do this to folks do.

  • As an upcoming Actress myself, I totally understand what your saying! I agree about that "Precious" movie. Taht was embrassing and degrading. I promised myself I would never take any role that embarass my race.

  • Like you said most Black Athlete's need the money right then & there to help their family or whatever. Their not thinking about the future of a possible injury. White kids go straight to college because most of the time their parent's have already paid for it years ago! LOL, Also they aren't money hungry because they've had it their lives. So you really can't knock a Black athlete for signing a contract instead of going straight to college.

  • not just actors, rappers too.

  • I love how you compare black folks to crabs fighting over "a piece of chicken meat"

  • are you still gonna be blaming the white man when the mexican immigrant whom are struggling in this country become more ingrained and responsible in this country in the coming years?

  • Watch " I HaTe bLaCk WoMaN!" by omegaondblock this brotha is funny as hell.

  • What you said is the truth years ago I would have taken the NBA money and run, I admit it. I am glad I had a mom who had a her head screwed on. Thank God.

  • Who are "they"? because if "they" dont do this, and if "they" dont do that then your totally at the will of "they" whoever they are.

You willingly granted this elusive thing your authority.

  • The only reason why they perpetuate those stereotypes is because if they didnt, black people wont accept them. Any black/biracial people tryna break outa the 'hood' gotta fight against their own people tryna bring them down. This is from personal experience.

  • As a black man even when black people win an Oscar. What do we see ? Halle Berry wins it by playing a black woman who fucks a racist white man because the black man is behind bars. Denzel in Training Day plays a corrupt cop. Forrest Whittaker gets one for playing a Muderous dictator (Idi Amin). You don't see black heroic movies like Gladiator, it's just all about the Hood

  • @denilson200: just though id add another element to ur comment about black oscar winners. look at ur list and what these actors portrayed to win. now look at will smith. if u notice, will has done many positive portrayals. and he has NEVER won. hes been NOMINATED for these positive roles millions of times, never won. this compliments what u say perfectly. i mean, just think about that...

  • Yeah white kids go to college just like black kids do and they don't know shit just like the black kids don't. Yeah go play pro ball why not money is power you can buy an education and buy time as well. If you go to college you will spend more money going than you will on a job you got with that college degree so go for the gold man. Their is no shame in that thats part of what america is built on besides murder rape theft ect.

  • I am striving to become a screenwriter and I see almost every movie that comes out, whether it's mainstream or indie and although I agree with most of what you say Jaylove I'm going to have to disagree TO A CERTAIN EXTENT on this one. What hollywood does is in the past 7 or 8 years we are almost always the doctors, lawyers in films but the roles play little to no importance, therefore they can shut us up and tell black people they don't reflect us in a negative light.

  • As for roles in Hollywood, if black people want better roles, there need to be more blacks behind the camera. Eva Longoria-Parker said something like that but about minorities . Think about it. White people have no motivation to give minorities non-stereotypical roles when they can give them to white people! People need to stop complaining so much and so something about it. You might not have control over the life you are born it, but you do have a lot of control over what happens to you.

  • I agree with you to an extent, but the reality is that black people need to do better and work harder. Asians are a minority, too, but that doesn't stop them from achieving stuff. There are tons of scholarships and grants and loans you can get to go to school, if you can't afford it, especially if you are a minority. I think for a lot of minorities, it's easier to run the streets than to run from them.

  • This is very true HOWEVER it seems to me that the SAD stories of black people are the ONLY stories HOLYWOOD wants to tell. Its as if they do NOT want to acknowledge that successful, happy, afluent, African American people exist in America.

  • @ByFaith2k10 I agree with you there, but to a lot of white people with money (and even regular folk) who don't interact with black people on a regular basis (most probably don't) only know what they see in the media and consider anything that differs from that an exception, which most people in the community wouldn't be able to relate to, which of course is not true. However, it's how they think.

  • I AGREE!!

That stupid movie Precious made black people look EXTREMLY bad!!!

  • @ByFaith2k10 For a lot of black people, that's the reality of life. Is it sad and somewhat embarrassing? Yeah, but it's the truth. I think it was meant to be an eye-opener and bring light to situations that need to change.

  • Tyler Perry comes to mind.

  • @Lanre1777 i know right :) he always looks soo cute :D

  • people dont understand that life imitates art people are surronded with perception. for example, like going on a job interview or finding a soulmate, people use perception a whole lot throughout their lifetime. Many actors/actresses need to understand what they want to represent out there because people are going to automatic believe such & such.example,on oprah the little black girls touch the diff dolls to see which doll they prefer.they ask whos ugly&stupid.they ended up picking the black doll

  • I totally agree with jaylove but at the same time before we blame one another, all of us, the black race have to strive for the best and become better people instead of settling for less and thinking that since everyone is doing the same gangs, guns, sex, drugs, hoes movie shit, that this is normal/ okay. we have to blame ourselves first because we ALLOW people to put this negative image on us because we accept it and do not fight back whats its right for us. we tend to be cowards in a way.

  • Jay

Its like you said, its about the money and unfortunately POSITIVITY is not that profitable in film or music apparently.

    Hollywood is predominantly Jewish run.....

I think this video is a testament that money does not equal power. I'll pay you millions, but I CONTROL your image.

  • League minimum is about....2 - 300K, I think thats enuff to go to college if you want.

  • @jaylove

Money is very powerful. How much money would it take for you to turn down a role?

  • lol dc ain't no poverty in that uncle tom ass city

  • That shit is so true,Perfect example my sister(and we are black)is working towards being an actress and she is tottaly against doing any madea type plays or any ghetto shit! and like i said why dont they put blacks in science fiction movies,or super hero flicks,or action movies that dont include gansta shit!

  • a "successful "black man and black woman as lead characters together in a good romantic relationship with obvious affection is a no no in hollywood these days. Even shaft only got a peck and he is suppose to be like the black bond.

  • hey , you first have to get your foot in the door. before you can hope to change anything man.

  • can you blame em niggas aint given them no money. aye black people spend billions of dollars on weaves. black people own no business. so they say fuck black people. and and go to the white people who appreciate them.

  • everyone is entitled to their opinion .. some of you people need to learn to agree to disagree.

  • Comment removed

  • thats true esp what u said about crabs the do set it up where blk ppl have to fight over crumbs, to the white men were just entertainment. they just throw the bone and sit back and watch us fight over it.

  • YET he does it ANYWAY.

  • True dat..

I tell him that all of the time...

  • I seen method man in there but i guess it doesn't bother him because he was so proud to be in a movie with halle barry and billy bob.

  • The problem is getting Black people to watch good quality entertainment. Whenever a movie or television show comes out and it's not stereotypical and buffonish nobody watches. Or we will complain about the characters not being Black enough.

  • You are right.

  • Thats deep.....

  • Comment removed

  • OK, any part lol. I guess you dont think images influence people. I guess you think commericals are their for no reason. I guess Halle had on influence on you saying this. I wanna be a tool is what your saying.

  • Comment removed

  • we are NOT all in poverty. Why do you love generalizations so much Jay?

  • OMFG! This is the dumb shit that im talking about on youtube! Didnt you hear me say not all blacks come from the hood and that there are exceptions? Do you people fucking listen to anything or just talk out ur ass? Damn u people are fucking retarded its ridiculous how ignorant u people are

  • "This is the dumb shit that im talking about on youtube! " - surely you must be referring to the substance of many of your videos & ur use of ur opinions as fact. What I HEARD YOU SAY @ IS "BLACK PEOPLE um, like I said, WE COME FROM POVERTY MOST OF US"..how many is MOST? I don't know huge amounts of bp n poverty. There are enough but MOST? Meaning the majority? Do YOU listen to the things YOU SAY? Damn YOUR ignorance, retardation and ignorance. YOU PEOPLE my ass genius- U ARE one of YOU ppl!

  • The bottom line is, whether I said most or some, I did not generalize! Are there more blacks living in the suburbs than in the hood... well that's debateable! But most would agree that there are in fact more blacks in the hood than there are in the suburbs now since ur retarded ass wants to dispute that instead of claiming that those statements are ignorant, how about u prove they're false! Do you have any evidence to disprove statements made in this video regarding blacks in poverty? No so STFU

  • You should also talk about how successful African - American men/women leave the "ghetto" and never contribute to those poor black civilians in the ghettos.

  • Take a DAY and go back and listen to the GENERALIZATIONS in your VIDEOS.. ANYTIME You say BLACK WOMEN OR MEN, instead of SOME or a CERTAIN GROUP, you are GENERALIZING and YOU DON'T KNOW 1% of black people. NOT LIVING IN THE SUBURBS does NOT EQUAL living in POVERTY! Did you flunk the 1st grade a few times? We never lived in the suburbs and we were NEVER IMPOVERISHED! Living in the NEIGHBORHOOD is indicative of LOCATION, NOT FINANCIAL STABILITY. How about you offer DATA instead of your OPINIONS.

  • @JAYLOVE47 Well idk JMan im black but not african im haitian grew up in a white italian town nd i wanna become a famous model nd actor nd i jus stay positive about it i kknow nd understand both races but fuckin blacks gotta stop blaming the white man nd grow up nd stop all that gang shit fuckin lowlifes

  • @JAYLOVE47 i really like ur pt of view and support it one hundred percent, but why are u cursing out your audience because they differ in opinion or were confused. Please be nice to your loyal audience, we love you and don't understand why you're cursing out ebony news channel.

  • Comment removed

  • YOU are the one spewing out video after video on your NEGATIVE OPINIONS of black people. ..like you have diarrhea of the OPINIONS LOL. .

YOU KEEP MAKING ALL THESE VIDEOS.. the burden of proof is ON YOU!!!!!

Try some research, it holds more weight than NAME CALLING.

  • @JAYLOVE47 I hate when people do that. You just sat there and said not everyone.

  • I agree. we need more black writers. Tyler Perry is a JOKE and I think his movies are all the same and that show that he has called Meet The Browns is a embarasment to the African American community. I don't care what anyone says but that show does not represent all blacks and when I say all blacks I mean west indian. latin and spanish blacks. he can keep that shit for himself . The sad thing about it is I don't even think they understand how bad that show makes them look.

  • I think Mr. Brown is funny as hell.

  • But he is also SOOOOo predictable.. Tyler needs some fresh clever writers.

  • need more variety of writers on shows. More women more african/american men and women. Your right its always white people writing for the show. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a white person writing for the Clevelands cartoon.

  • @VenusTheGoddess1 its that same guy who write for famill\y guy so that would be a yes lol

  • Jaylove, man I agree with you 100% I thought it was just me, but I honestly felt that movie Precious was a disgrace to the black race, before I saw the movie I thought it was going to be this girl was a diamond in the rough. I felt she would be incredibly intelligent and possibly getting offers to go to an Ivy league school, but that fact her greatest accomplishment was reading at a Jr. high level was a complete insult and thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

  • Yeah i agree with u. Must of the time blacks are in a neagative spin. But i know some stupid white kids

  • Sounds good...better than snakes on a plane ..wtf

  • good video...Black people need to start their own production companies and make films and roles that show the variety of black experiences.

For example, I'm a fan of the show True Blood, in the books Tara was a white women who had a successful business. However, on the show they changed the character to be black, but they didn't let her still be successful. Instead they made her poor, attitudinal, and have an alcoholic mother. Why couldn't she be black and still be successful?!?!?

  • In continuation from my previous comment..... All the writers on True Blood are white with one Asian so I'm not surprised. We need to stop expecting white writers and producers to represent us well.

  • Isnt there a video of her thou?

  • Lol!!! I don't know but she show do talk white, she don't have no pic, cuz my homie caught one of these blk women bashers!!!! Turned ouit that the dude was white!!! Lol!!! Aint this bitch!! Don't be fooled this is cyberspace!!! There can be a bumch of disguises if you no what I mean!!!!

  • Jay!!! Lol!!! Guess what!!! I don't know if this is true or not your so-called arch enemy "blakebarbiedoll" rumors are that she is really a white girl playin as a black chick!!! I don't know when I think about it!!

  • @rose.its just the simple fact that most white folks are born with money...its that simple

  • I think it's kind of weird that the inner city is mostly black people. like, why aren't there any white people? i don't know why, but i was just thinking about that. i wish there was more peace and equality in this world.

  • @EvelynRose011 I agree

  • @jojo. Cant disagree with you there.

  • No im pointing out how messed up the system is...how do they expect anyone to make it ..not everyone has fanily support to go to school. Its a damn joke and inhuman imo

  • Question is?

Why is that most " WHITE PEOPLE " feel like they're in superior and feels no one has rights but them.

I don't understand how they feel the world is there, and what they done to our black ancestors was horrible.

It's like they had a plan to try destroy anyone that wasn't of there color.

  • Like I told ya jay the media is killing us(black men), we all know the media aint going no where, that's fucked up!!!

  • i miss the Cosby Show, Fresh Prince and Girlfriends....

  • That is the absolute truth!

This video really sums it up, alot of great points! And that movie precious is where the stereotypes come in at, and think it's like that in every black community.

  • Damn 6.70 an hour..how is someone gonna go to school trying to survive on that..thats a fucking JOKE!!!!!!..Well i guess the american dream is just that..a dream.

  • Hahaha why you say that to the brutha? That's fucked up! Everyone doesn't have a degree dude

  • yo jaylove, your rite about that prescious movie because my mom and many more other people said that there only potraying the stereotype to show how fucked up the african american race is putting out a movie like that

  • Comment removed

  • I make 6.70 per hour and i just got scammed out of 678 dollars so i aint gonna lie if anythang comes across i will have to take it

  • I don't blame certain black men and women for taking that big paying contract because life is hard. But when i first saw halle barry win that award for the movie monster ball she was happy as heck but i was like so your happy about winning a award for bending over for a popular caucasian actor? That's why i'm not surprised that soul plane was a platinum movie because they lived up to the stereotype that people know and love.

  • you are correct man

  • Thanks bro because what's going on in hollywood is real.

  • I hated soul plane. That movie was too stupid.

  • I hated Method Man's mentality in that movie... he was so fucking ghetto

  • Method Man funny as hell though.

  • great points
