  • This is bad advice. Picking up the feet and moving around is ESSENTIAL in boxing ur supposed to be on the balls of ur feet to so u can react faster. Watch Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao they both are either always on the balls of there feet or bouncing around side steppin, pivoting etc...WHAT IM SAYING IS NEVER USE THIS TECHNIQUE IT MAKES U A SITTING DUCK.

    For most boxers, we dip our heads down with our backs to get under a punch, the Drag is kind of important for getting a good distance.

    Keep the guard the whole time and your eyes on the opponent.

    I dont do it like this guy his feet are actually very far apart and off regular stance and its kind of irritating.

    Ok what you guys dont know is, boxers just dont stand there and throw punches at each other because they get more power by keeping their feet down, thats just dumb and amateur.

    Boxers learn to keep moving, stay out of damage range because if your muscles take damage, you wont be able to use that power because your arm is to sore and weak.

  • Maybe you did not understand me, but we were talking about movement. Sometimes you need to be on the balls of your feet but if your moving laterally or diagonally you drag. I box, kickbox, grapple and do judo. I have coached multiple fights a day tournaments and fought in them as well. Don't coach me about power. Different types of movement works better for different types of techniques. A stronger jab will require someone going forwards to get on the balls of their feet. But a set up jab doesnt

    It may only be used when closing in, so that ur less open, and it's meant to be associated with a jab,hook or both.

    But it'll send ur ass to the ground the moment u break ur foot-work and slide ur leading leg in k-box,savate, or any sport that accepts kicks.

  • yeah your right im an mma fighter not a boxer and i know for sure your feet should at least not be to the side. i would never slide anything but punches. my boxing coach says front foot forward and back foot at a 45 degree. but thats only to adapt my boxing to an mma environment. but yeah this guys strange. it might work for someone in the 1930's.

    CruiserWt, LightHWt, and below 170lbs. All in that order.

    Try to tell me to bounce around when I have 3 to 4 fights to finish a tournament. Don't tell me about energy, I know when to use it and how to use it.
