MASH "jumped the shark" when both McClean and Wayne left the show, and Alan Alda decided to believe the statement he was "the funniest man in America".
Charles episode with Hawkeye waiting to hear about his fathers operation was a good way to put two unfriendly characters together without making it forced. Very good tv that pulls back some of Charles layers and makes him more human. Very good actor added to the mix.
Trap with Hawk was the best duo at the 4077th but after frank burns left the show, the show ended up being too boring & too politicly correct, the first four seasons were the best.
M*A*S*H succeeded for so long because whenever they lost a good character, they replaced it with a better character.

B.J. was okay however, the Hawkeye/Trapper duo was the greatest how they tormented Frank Burns (Ferret Face)
