  • @MegaMichael1973 Seriously. I kinda agree. The only "HUMMER" Hummer was the original. The H1. Everything else that came from the Hummer brand under GM (sorry to say because I actually like GM) was their redone crap with a Hummer name on it. I would almost go as far as to say the smaller H3 was a better 4x4 than the heavy and ridiculous H2. Sad for whoever (and I know there were many) paid double MSRP for this vehicle. Oh well, they are no longer made now. RlP Hummer.

  • Sorry,but 8500 GVW does NOT mean it weights that much. GVW means Gross Vehicle Weight - safety standard to prevent overloading.

    H1 wagon GVW is 10300 yet it only weight 7050lb being heavier then H2 hands down.

    You really need to get yourself educated on things you talking about..

    Any vehicle over 6000 lb - tax write off .

    And where did you find road restrictions for H2?

  • The only difference between air and normal suspension on H2 - replacement of rear springs with airbags. Everything else is still basic GM truck components. You still have torsion bars in front.

  • O please, can you afford H1? Your whole front - Chevy 2500. Exactly the reason why H2 tie-rods brake. I'm not sure if you actually own one or not but you obviously have no clue - Chevy frame was modified to hold 8600 lb.

    But your H2 do NOT weight that much - my H1 wagon weighs 7500lb..... Your H2 curb weight - 6600lb . You can raise the height of your rear by air - but you don't have air suspension.

But you know there is that Toyota FJ Cruiser that looks kinda like an H3, I think it would be a much better investment becuase lets face it, made in the USA doesnt mean that much of a positive anymore. It can come in a V6 and since $4 gas is just the start that may not be a bad idea. Just keep in mind that europe has been at around 7-8$ per gallon for years and that is not compleatly off the books for America for the future.

  • Big engines keep them cheap. Yes you could have a smaller more efficient engine producing more power but that ramps up the cost and (being more complex) theoretically reduces the reliability. Having a big, simple engine still produces power just fine but helps keep the costs down.

  • Yeh, if I'd buy a Hummer I'd get the H1 - a real Hummer. Surprisingly doesn't weigh all that much (less than a landcruiser for example) but if you get one with the right engine (I think the turbocharged 6.6L is the way to go) they are much more powerful.

  • You missed the point. Size alone has little to do with it. To have a smaller engine produce similar power to a larger engine you have to increase the efficiency of the smaller one. To do this, extra parts have to be added (turbos, camshafts, belts, electrical components etc). Extra parts increases cost, complexity and required maintenance. The more parts an engine has the more chances of something going wrong or being damaged.
