No group of people deserve to suffer as the Jews did in those camps. No group deserves that kind of abuse. Unfortunately, you are technically wrong. The term, "anti-Semitism" is of European 19th century CE derivation. And was in part due to the social darwinism of that century when intelligence, was determined by measuring the shape of a person's head using a kind of calipers specially designed for that purpose. The term gained favor because of events of the next century.

Many groups claim to be "chosen" in some way(Japan is the "land of the rising sun," for example) but in light of how Jewish people have thrived in societies throughout the world(because of their moral values and emphasis on scholarship), the Jewish claim of chosenness can't be easily dismissed or ignored. That's one of the main reasons that people will always hate the Jews.

There was a time when people didn't hate Jews. The Catholic church to this day sees Jews as a religion. If the Jew converts to Catholicism he is no longer a Jew. That has always been the official position of the catholic church.

Throughout history, Jews have had the option of not being hated if they would only stop being Jews. The only exception was under Nazism, in which it was believed that by their very nature, Jews could not stop being Jews by conversion, assimilation, etc.

What I'm saying is true, though maybe I should clarify. The Jews, a seemingly tiny, insignificant group, lost their ancestral land and were dispersed throughout the world for almost 20 centuries. Somehow, although despised, they have managed not only to survive with their culture and religion completely intact, but they have also thrived and had a profound impact on the world. I attribute this to Jewish values, which obviously has nothing to do with racism.

What strikes me as odd (and antisemitic) is that the interviewed tend to want to explain the "natural roots" of antisemitism as a historical fact. Historizing antisemitism as something that induced somehow inscrutable sensitivities among Jews is already antisemitic,I believe. And I know, what I talking about.
