  • @SoulshatterEvolution I agree.

  • Hey what kinda bass is that? Just joking jaja. But at first I thought you was playing an Alembic Orion bass until you placed that closed caption.

  • boring but you got good bass :D and sound is good :D but you're not playing this right

  • kick ass cover....just get the effects pedals and play it and your good

  • @ultradood133 Agreed, I didn't have any at the time, this video was made when I first started bass!

  • @MistaMarko awsome sauce :P

  • Since I listened to your bands CD, you gotta listen to mine :P We're on itunes, Universal Drift

  • @IPlayDaBasss I'll look it up.

  • aWesome bass bro what kind is it

  • @sobman Fender Jazz Bass.

  • @MistaMarko are you kidding? It's peavey cirrus BXP

  • @flowerkingg Nope.

  • @MistaMarko THATS A FENDER!?!?!

  • @1tootall96 yeah, Fender Jazz but it's a custom

  • @MistaMarko obviously not...

  • is it a vintage your playing on????

  • Peavey make amazing basses <3

  • what kind of bass are you using?

  • @pugspugs123456 Fender Jazz.

  • whats that bass

  • @sk8jon2 Peavey Cirrus 5 BXP.

  • Nice cover keep up the good work

  • @MrZayda thanks!

  • i got the 4 string version of that, and for everyone else, its a peavy cirrus bxp

  • sounds so good! what bass is it?

  • @omnipotent1995 Peavey Cirrus BXP 5

  • Dude you got a really nice bass. Looks expensive.

  • @N11Ckk123472 Thanks!

  • i think the intro are chords no olny a singular note :S ...

  • @jorgefg666 The beauty of learning a song by ear and learning from a Metallica record where the bass is virtually inaudible... ^_^

  • Just some constructive criticism, your playing the solo wrong it's not triplets its quadruplets. Other then that AMAZING job!!!

  • @HeyItsCoop Thanks! Figured it out by ear, best I could do!

  • You did the intro terribly wrong man, i cant believe you would post this rubbish, relearn the song, theres a few spots you fucked up jeez im disapointed, you call your self a metallica fan, if you were, you woudnt have posted this, especially CLIFF BURTONS SONG!!!!!! dis respect!

  • @6AFI6 Yeah, the official Master of Puppets tab book is wrong I guess. I can't believe you would post that silly, douche-bag comment, I won't re-learn the song because I know it already, there are a few spots I fucked up obviously jeez I'm pretty happy with the video considering how long I've been playing at that point, I do call myself a Metallica fan, if I weren't, I wouldn't have posted this, especially METALLICAS SONG!! Your comment was indeed disrespectful.

  • @6AFI6 Are you fucking serious? Who are you to say he did it wrong? Lets see you do better. Cliff would be proud that someone would take the time and effort to learn a song by him. So what if he got a couple notes wrong, have you ever heard of the word "Improvise" thats the whole point of playing music, is playing how you feel comfortable, and letting your emotions flow out of your instrument. It's called PLAYING an instrument, not WORKING an instrument. Douche bag.

  • @N11Ckk123472

i agree 100% with u there is no way putting it better than that

  • @6AFI6 SHUT THE HELL UP

  • That's so fucking rad! That's a good old tune!

  • sounds good to me (:

  • @JerryAmoz thanks!

  • @MistaMarko ;)

  • that bass is sick bro are those emg pickups?

  • @bigtrick08 Nah, just two 9V active VFL Peavey pickups.

  • good cover.

just get into it abit more.

  • @zeppelinchamp77 thanks

  • Well played dude :D

  • @CnTLeon1 thanks

  • that bass has a great sound to it, great job!!

  • @Liljordan1 thanks!

  • i'm sure ur better now bro, but this cover was so not fluid and lacked technique so much lol... i'm glad u are confident enough to put stuff out though, good work

  • @musicmaster555 definitely agree...this was 3.5 years ago!

  • too much jazz style for me!

    but a good cover

  • @micagas huh? thanks tho

  • nice job dude

  • Thanks man!

    -Mark

  • Good cover dude, but practice a little more

    4/5

  • I have. This was uploaded about 3 1/2 years ago. Thanks man!

  • I love ur ibanez ... Your play is good , just need a more fluency if u know what i mean

  • Appreciate that! And that is a Peavey Cirrus, not Ibanez,

    -Mark

  • god you make me look like a horrible bassist lol iv only been playing for about 6 months and cant play this full song

  • Well it sure isn't easy all over...take some time and practice it slow. Great intermediate-level song to learn!

  • good one mate! that sounds amazing and pretty kewl to watch you play for those who are learning. n1p

  • Awesome man, I really appreciate that!

  • solo is kinda off, but i shouldn't say anythig, only manages half of it :P

  • Yeah I don't disagree here. Wasn't the best take, but the best I could've done for just learning it.

  • ohvv great !

  • Thanks!

  • I love your cover! the tone is awesome guide me to it! :D

  • Wow, I'm surprised you think so. I actually didn't like it...wasn't using anything special toe be honest! Just a Cirrus 5 BXP with Dean Markley strings plugged into an Ampeg BA-115!

  • @MistaMarko

    No wonder :P

I havent changed my strings in a year and they were dull to start with :p

  • Yeah...should change them!

  • @MistaMarko

    Done :D

  • I wish I could paly, I got small fingers which makes it hard

  • Not at all man! I have huge palms and short fingers and I'm doing just fine. Just have to adapt to the instrument...takes practice!

  • Good looking bass, bad looking player..

If ur gonna play with ur bass that high, u need to take ur right arm more forward. The angle of ur wrist is something u don't want.

  • Thats the worst advice Ive ever read. There is no right or wrong place to hold your arm. If its comfortable for the kid, thats how hes gonna play.

  • Haha, only that proves ur a bad player!

it might be comfortable to rest ur arm like that, but when u learn how to play hard things, u will realise it's not going to work.

  • I can play "hard things" and have never had a problem. Technique is subjective. I don't see any videos of you playing, so hush.

    -Mark

  • @MistaMarko, I'm not sure what the other guy was getting at, but by having your wrist straighter you will find it a lot easier to put more power in your playing. It might not be your style to play like that, and i'm not saying you're doing it wrong... hell i've seen some amazing players anchor their wrist like that. But generally with metal bass playing you get the traditional heavy, punchy sound from a harsher attack on the strings. Give it a try if you haven't already =)

  • @stonedparyah My technique has changed a bit since I posted this 3.5 years ago. Given I still bend my wrist, but it's a tad straighter, and I'm able to put plenty of power even when it's bent. I've tried hard to change but muscle memory is a hard thing to change from a technique standpoint, so I sort've just found the happy medium.

  • @Pj311foo thats true, there is no right or wrong way... but if you have your wrist straighter then you are allowing more freedom of movement and power to your fingers. it's a good habit to get into =)

  • @Pj311foo That's not entirely true, while holding your arm this way, you could get injuries, and that's not some random bullshit I just made up :P. But ofc that doesn't always happen.

    Greetz,

    Staf W.

  • Great playing & great shirt (Y)

  • so i cant spell, big deal

  • so i wear my bass high, big deal

  • sorry, im just jealous cause you own me on that song, good job your fade to black solo kicks ass to by the way, you should try Tornado of souls by megadeth that would sound crazy

  • haha im just messing dude. i'll look into that song...can't remember if i've even heard it or not. thanks a lot though, definitely appreciate the compliments.

  • lol dont worry i wear mine so much higher dont why just more comfortable for me some reason also im into alot of jazz/fusion ect so i have to be able to reach the notes :)

  • Agreed!

  • Not to bad on the solo! Yeah that is the hard part too!

  • Thanks!

  • dude i have to say, you've improve an incredible amount since you made this video. i've listened to some of the songs off your "Absolute Zero" album and i really enjoy your bass work. mad props dude.

  • Definitely man, thanks so much. This video is about three years old now, and I've been playing for five, so think about it! And, appreciate you checking out Absolute Zero, and hope you enjoyed.

    -Mark

  • you play that bass awfully high, are you in in the beetles

  • yeah I'm in the "beetles".

  • Can i have your bass?

    Seriously gief a 5string guitar ;(

Pretty out of rhythm playing tho, especially that first solo was really bad.

  • What first solo? Nothing was out of rhythm here to the extent you're saying.

  • What is your bass?

  • Peavey Cirrus 5 BXP.

  • thank you

  • sure

  • i like how the intro sounds like a motown song.

  • i like chevelle

  • beautiful fucking bass but I cunt hear shit..

  • thanks. yeah i do wish it was louder. too late now!

  • is that really how you play the intro? I´ve always used distortion and played the intro like the album version

  • yeah that really is how i play the intro.

  • well, anyway that was really nice bassplaying man. i like to play the intro with distortion though, but then again: nice bassplaying

  • It's chords, the intro that is, you can find it floatin around on the internet or you can buy the book.

  • a bit sloppy although i have the impression that the riff on 1:50 is played wrongly

  • Nope, it's right.

  • it sounds funny but i think is right... anyway, if ANYONE but Cliff plays Orion it would sound funny coz he never played the same rythm of the guitars

  • makes my ears feel good

  • thanks man!

  • Nice bass :)

  • thanks

  • what bass is this ?

  • Peavey Cirrus 5 BXP

  • really good man,

a tip, in the bass solo part (that clean beatiful riiff)

try to set chords, it sounds better

  • Very Very good, just at the 1:20 bass solo try to make flow better and smoother, not as choppy, still well done!

  • Appreciate it..i agree! Video is about 3 years old..hopefully I can do better now!

  • practice solo more and buy fuzz pedal, you really need it

    5

  • Thanks

  • This is the best Orion cover I've seen on YouTube.... keep rockin' dude

  • Very flattered to hear that man, appreciate it big time!

  • Do you use the low b in this at all?

  • Yep, watch again!

  • dude that was pretty damn good

    cliff wud b proud

  • Appreciate it...I hope so, lol.

  • get a new t-shirt?

    abbey road is amazing.

  • Indeed!

  • holy crap man u are really good, 10 out of 10

  • Appreciate it dude!

  • GJ, quit being so stiff though! lol =)

  • I agree...was a stiff video!

  • you could sit in a rocking chair! (pun somewhat intended)

on stage that could be your trademark!

oh oh and you can knit a sweater in between songs, and when the concert is over you throw it to the crowd!!! :D!!!! EPIC!

  • Haha, interesting...

  • i love your bass, but you should get a new t-shirt

could anybody list me some arguments for using a 5-string?

  • dont use 5 string for Metallica songs.

    Cliff Didnt

  • well I think rob uses them at least sometimes, and metallica is much more than cliff burton.

generally, what is an argument for using 5-strings?

  • what does it matter............ the fifth string doesnt interfere with the oter 4.. its just a a lower b if you dont use it its no diffrent than a 4 string

and the argument cliff didnt is pretty rediculous.. not everybody that wants to play metallica need to buy his equipment...

  • this guy is right rob plays a five string in most of there songs it doesn't make a difference

  • Oh, yeah, Call of Ktulu is on a 5 string too.

  • call of ktulu isn't on a 5 string. Cliff only used a 4-string. the only real argument for a 5-string is if you think you need one, otherwise a 4-string works jsut fine. But you can do some fun stuff with 5 strings, especially if you use a pick

  • 6 strings are fun to solo on, but 5 string are the best compromise on any level, playability and usually value and price wise.

  • Thanks guys!!

  • i love it!!for me one o f the best covers o fthis song on youtube!

  • Nice Peavey Cirrus

  • dude you are who i want to be with my bass playing lmao

this was brilliant , could you please please send me the tabs if you have them written down

  • nice cover!

  • Thanks man! : )

  • This is one of my favorite bass songs. Good job. Orion is exciting

  • What's the model of the guitar?

  • Peavey Cirrus 5 BXP, Qualt Tiger Eye finish.

  • Так себе......неочень....

  • Hey man I got a question.

If you play guitar(just and example)and you decide to learn bass would you do it?

  • Yeah! Go for it!
