@aus2045 - yes there are many people in the same situation. The academia are not really interested unless you have letters after your name.

All you can do is publish your findings (photos) on the net and hope they get noticed by the right person.

I have found many strange and some very large bone fossils near Rockhampton, Australia. But no matter how hard I try, no one takes me seriously. Apparently you need a degree to gain attention from the authorities. So I have been slowly building a private collection. And I am happy to say I have several vertebrae and a jaw bone that looks very similar to Baryonyx. I just need to find the hip or legs.
