  • the numbers on the sight are in 100 Metres. you can adjust the sight from 100 metres to 2 kilometres

  • @nick21sammy Thanks. I got that figured out fast. I need to do an update since I have some more stuff with my rifle and know more. Thanks for the comment and video response.

  • got the same gun very nice video

  • @joydivision808 They are great rifles!!! Thanks for the comment.

  • How on earth did you find a 98k for only $300 ? is it demilitarized ?

  • @PiwaiGee Luck at a gun show, with a good dealer as a friend to get another dealer to give me a little break.. lol It is not de-milled. works 100% correctly. It is not a prop, or blank only, or reproduction.

  • The best bolt action ever!

  • @mrleman1987 I do agree... It is an amazing bolt weapon.

  • nice video man, really nice.

  • @fallschirmjager0000 Danke... Did you see my German Kit? Check out my channel.

  • very nice vid,top 98k number one of bolt actions.................greetings

  • @ralframons Thank you.. It is an awesome rifle!

  • Nice rifle! I love World War era bolt actions. And I noticed your shirt. Are you a firefighter?

  • @bjpw1234 I am a Volunteer FF and a paid EMT. I agree, the war era bolts were some sweet freaking rifle!!!

  • @emtffzartman I just joined my volunteer dept. a week ago, I'm also taking an MRT class at my high school next year to get my MRT certification, then I'm going to try to get my EMT after that. I plan on trying to become a paid FF later in life, so I figured this would be a good place to start. Thank you for your service! Anyways, I'm particularly fond of the Springfield 1903A3 and the Lee Enfield No 4 MK I. I'd like to get both those rifles. That is, If I could even find the Lee Enfield haha.

  • @bjpw1234 Thats good. I love doing what I do. Gun shows are a great place to find older rifles like that. Keep looking and saving up for it.

  • I would also know how much a 7.62x63(30-06) bullet costs. The cheapest 7.62 cost aprox 7 Norwegian Kroner. (1.27 US dollars) How much does a bullet costs in US?

I would also say that you can use .308 in the k98 (7.62x51 NATO) but you might blow up your chamber. We call it for .308 idiot. :)

  • @gavamild My rifle is a 8mm Mauser round only. I can use 308 blanks, but not live rounds. From 50 cents to $1 depending on the round. That is per round.

  • @emtffzartman wow thats cheap.well thank you. Have fun.

    gavamild :D

  • @gavamild Welcome... You have fun too...

  • I was hoping for a Bang at 1:40 xD

  • @TheSkarsbo Sorry.. I am a little bit more intelligent than that..

  • The sights show up to 2000meters, but it may not reach that far, and it`s not effective. The effective range for the mauser is aprox 100-600 meters. :)

  • @gavamild But in a mass of soldiers shooting the bullet will go 1500-2000 meters... You are correct though for shooting solo..

  • @emtffzartman yeah of course. :)

  • Great post! First class...with basic necessities that need to be taught for every User purchaser.

  • @cmoney8503 Thank you very much!!

  • The sights graduate to 2000 meters.

  • @rrhmorgan Thats a long way to shoot iron sights...

  • @emtffzartman Hey man, I didn't design it :P Same with The Mosin Nagant. We'll call it "ambition."

  • @rrhmorgan lol... Ambition... lol Thats a great name for shooting it that far. But I guess there comes a point that volume overwhelms accuracy. I have never looked at a Nagant that close, good to know. The Russian stuff just looks odd to me. Thanks for the comment.

  • @emtffzartman Yeah. The designs came from a time when war was changing from a gentleman's game to the trench warfare that made WW1 so brutal. At the time the 98K and similar rifles were designed, this long-distance warfare when large volleys were more important than dead accuracy was still very much thought of as the "proper way" to fight a war. Out of necessity, the designs were changed to carbines and such to compensate for more personal warfare, but the sights remain unchanged mostly.

  • great review!!! well done

  • @TheMcChazzle Thank You very much.

  • hey what is the mauser with the straight bolt ,is it just 98

  • @bobiscool308 Yes. It is the 98 GEW (or Gewehr, that is "Rifle" in German). That is a longer rifle and it could not have a scope mounted in the normal location (over the action) due to the handle. Plus troops could operate the bent bolt handle better and faster. This is a change that you will notice on 99% of bolt action rifles of today.

  • @emtffzartman thanks alot man

  • @bobiscool308 Not a problem. I am here to teach.

  • the sights do go up to 2000m... its not for a single rifle to shoot a single target at 2000m. its made for 500 to 1000+ rifles shooting a volley from trench to trench into an enemy charge up to that range..their are storys of the germens nailing brits at around one k using that technique...

  • @mickatron1911 OHHHH!!! SNAP!! I did not know that, but it makes a lot of sense. I just never thought of it like that. Thanks for the info..

  • @emtffzartman no probs mate.. :)

  • @emtffzartman its a pretty good idea.. think about 1000 98s shooting 5000 rounds in around 30 secs..that would mess with someones day lol

  • @mickatron1911 It sure is amazing.. I would love to see it in person, from behind the line of 98's that is.. lol

  • that is a nifty gun

  • sure is..

  • Sweet rifle Paul. I love the 98, I have a Mitchel's Mauser and I like it but I am working on getting a real nice one I just have to stop buying Glocks first. Excellent video, if you fire those old surplus rounds the have corrosive primers so be sure to clean your barrel and breach with some Muzzle Magic first it's for black powder rifles but it will neutralize the salts in the primer then clean it with your normal process. Great video, best rifle ever!

  • Eww.. Glock.. well to each thier own. I am a Springfield XD fan personally. I clean it everytime i shoot due to the age. I was told to stay away from Mitchel's. Heard they sell mainly pieced together parts..

  • @emtffzartman

It's not pieced but the bolt is made to match everything else is right. I wasn't looking for a collector I wanted a shooter and it's perfect for that when I find a good Mauser I won't shoot it, it will only be display the Mitchell's works geat and is fun to shoot. I have the XD40sc but love my Glocks I'm selling my XD to fund my Glock 21 purchase...hey at least it's a .45 though.

  • Well I had to find a happy medium between collector and shooter. Ya know the whole reenactment thing. If your going to have a Glock at least its a .45.. It is .45 ACP right? Not GAP??

  • @emtffzartman

Yeah .45 ACP only I'm not a fan of the GAP too hard to find ammo.

  • @emtffzartman Hey also looking to move to Pa. in the next few months from NJ any suggestions on towns to look? want to stay in the Philly to Allentown area but don't like Allentown much,Later man.

  • Well first of all if you need me to make a couple videos on how to use PA Traffic Circles, Pump your own gas and Make left hand turns without using a "jug handle" I will. Ok, Sorry I hate NJ.. and that was not even to mention the gun laws.. I live near Gettysburg. Its a nice area but is a long drive to Philly. I am not sure where near Philly is nice. I would stay away from Allentown too.

  • @emtffzartman

Thanks man some of those help the Jersey idiot videos would be great. I hate Jersey too if I left today it wouldn't be soon enough. I'm looking in Bucks county like Doylestown and the town of Nazareth north of Allentown. I lived in Philly in the Navy but I want to be out of the city. Mostly that area cause I'll still be working in NJ at first.

  • Bucks county is nice, I have been there and like it. I might just make a few "Help the Jersey Idiot" video's for fun. lol I hope the move goes well.

  • Yea but what year was it made? Mine was made in the Gustoff werke in Weimar Germany in 1944 symbolized by a single or double 4. the codes range from 1934 to 1945. My rifle too served on the Russian front.

  • Sorry, I forgot to say that in the video. It is a 1941 rifle. The location I did state is "DUV' markings.

  • By the way what are the factory codes?

  • I say the codes in the video. I am also a big fan of history. I can not wait to get all of my gear and do some field time with my SS FJ group.

  • Sorry about that. Even though I'm only 15 I love history. I sudy a lot about WWII. I personaly think this wasthe best rifle disighned. I own one of these rifles. They are fun to shoot but it gives a pretty good kick

  • I've never seen anyone on youtube show how to disassemble the bolt on a Mauser. Thanks.

  • If you are going to make a vidio of a rifle at least do your hmwk.

The #,s on the rear sight mean meeters x100 and has a range of 2000 meeters.

  • Well I said I just got the rifle. No need to be a jerk about it. So people shot 2000 yards with iron sights?... yea, I am sure they did. Thanks for the info. I figured that the markings ment that but didnt think shooting iron sight that far was realistic.

  • I know where you got that Tee Shirt. HAHA

  • Heck yea.. that was a good trip.
