If a future X game really wants to make an emotional impact, the story will have you visit this area, then later the antagonists will tear the place and planet apart. Like President's End.

Except they rebuild it by the next game, because it's too awesome a place to completely remove.

@novato455 you don't need to struggle in the beginning. You could just use the command console/editor thing to get some money in the beginning and/or improve a notoriety with a race to get you started. I prefer to sit back and explore and rummage around the beautiful universe than do crap like manual cargo shipping for 10 hours in argon prime and home of light so i can buy an ore mine or Sector traders.

x3 reunion is one hell of a game, the problem is that, it is so hard to get money in the begging, some heavy fighter ships moves to slow for my taste (it could take you more than 17 minutes to get to some far sectors), and if you wanna go bandit hunting better bring a fellow wingmen (alltough you can take 4 by yourself it takes, luck, skill, and tactics in order to win)

@sartanko no, they disabled it because it was unnecesarry. You can use cockpit mods to implent it, though.

If the developers truly took the cockpits out for being "unnecessary", then we've reached a sad point where the customers know what they want and the creators do not.

Cockpits added to the immersion and atmosphere, which is everything this game is about. That is why the mods that put the cockpits back in are so successful.

@repatomonor21 IMHO it was kind of a stupid idea, it is much less immersive that way; now when I pilot I feel like I'm hanging on the surface of my ship. They should have made it an option.

@repatomonor21 Well at least in Rebirth they will add it back. It's just for one ship, but a cockpit nonetheless. And what a cockpit ! The entire interior will be modelled !

@Axel6430 And not to mention the rest. For example, landing on your capital ship will be possible. You roam around the ship, get to it's bridge, tell the crew your orders. Improvement or drawback? Definitely the first one.

@ElHyperion You missunderstood something. X-Rebirth will only feature a single ship that you can fly, X-BtF style. You will still be able to own an armada though, you just won't be flying them.

Well at least i hope the cockpit will be pretty much awesome and interactive. But wasn't Bernd or how is he called telling us that you just won't be able to fly the M1 and M2 class ships?

Your own ship (the Albion Skunk) will be detailed as much, that you can walk around in it, talk to it's crew members, the people you hire on it or for example, talk to a hired station manager while you transport him to the station in your ship. You will also be able to board capital shop and propbably will be able to sit in the captain's chair, but you won't be able to drive it manually, more like talking to your crew members. @repatomonor21 ...talking about, watch gameplay vids of Star Trek - Bridge Commander, the system should be similar. Also, the command console will probably be banished, as you will indirectly contact your ships/squad leaders and tell them what to do via transmitions.

@repatomonor21 From what I read on the forums, you'll be controlling your other ships remotely from the skunk. It basically means that unless your skunk gets blown away you won't be seeing the game over screen.

This has SO earned a place in my favorite Video Game Tunes, along with:

- BG 2 Throne of Baal Main Theme and Dragon Battle Theme

- FF7 Main Theme (orchestral, from the Reunion Tracks CD, although the ingame midi was pretty awesome to begin with.)

- The brandnew Sara System Blues (Starcraft 2)

- Max Payne 2 Menu Theme (Which is similar toMax Payne One - but played on a Cello by... Kivilaakso from Apocalyptica)
