Ohhhhhhhhhh Lisa....Jeeeeeeeeezass......Phew eeeee man! Let me take you out for dinner on Saturday night Lisa, wherever you wanna go we'll go, I mean Mcdonald's are just about everywhere now! Not sure? Well, whatever you want to eat I'm gonna supersize it!
this is no Paris.but Amsterdam Paradiso.I remember the all thing.the Stones came here in "incognito"for a couple of days to record I guess....good version of the song.xxTizi
My favorite Stones song. I noticed in the recorded version that when Lisa Fisher, or whoever it is, comes on, she holds the note longer. Though it's pretty damn impressive either way.
@waustin472545 The " whoever it is" is the then 21 years old Merry Clayton, a young gospell singer hired in the last moments, who sings the higher-pitched second vocal track as no one, even Lisa Fisher, ever sung. She suffered a miscarriage upon returning home after the recording, apparently due to the strain involved in reaching the highest notes. She's alive and recorded GS herself the next year.
@caravaggio31 I've heard Merry, many times. In the studio and out. I've also heard Lisa in both venues. Aside from they both sang with the Stones, there is no comparison whatsoever between the two. Lisa's voice is three of Merry's. Power, range, inflection, phrasing, Merry isn't even in the same ballpark. I suggest you listen to this you tube video: how can i ease the pain lisa fischer (the 1992 Japan concert). Comparing Lisa to Merry is like comparing A-Rod to your local Little League slugger.
SO fucking great when there is video coverage on ALL the band members, especially Charlie - the beat behind the whole band - and Keef, driving the rhythm, the roll. Gives me chills.
Charlies just crushing that kit! Man, that angel has some serious pipes! Perfect tempo too for this song, have heard it played too fast on some versions
Yep, I was in the audience, for free...

@caravaggio31 Merry's voice is anemic compared to Lisa's, do you have a working set of fucking ears?
Virtuosic1 1 month ago
@Virtuosic1 To your taste not mine. I recommendd you hear the vds of Merry singing Gimme Shelter nowadays. :-)
And, if you like a superb singer not a good one as Lisa, she singing Gimme Shelter here in 1970. =XCyTqnizcvI

My favorite rendition of Gimme Shelter ever...I saw this special on MTV when I was a teen and became a Stones fan for life.
Those '95 club shows were fucking incredible...I wish they'd recorded them all.
