You have a plate or something on top of your piano which is vibrating with the fundamental frequency of C. You can hear pretty much every top C being played sustaining with a much brighter shine than any other note.

Nah, the furthest it made was what the cd was, which was the Original Off Broadway Cast Recording. And now as RENT is closing, I wish ttB! could take it's place

it was performed many times off broadway at both the NYTW and The Second Stage Theatre back when Larson was still with us. Later in 2001 it was staged at the Jane Street Theater in the form that we know and love today.
