Just bought the Complete Collection off Itunes. These guys are the best! Got to see them a few times at the Knights of Colombus Hall in Fresno. Those were some fun mosh pits.
I was at Cornerstone last week and was talking to The Crucified's bassist. He said the band's show at Cornerstone in 1995 was a reunion show as they had broken up in 1993. Last week was their first reunion show in 15 years.
In September 2008, the band was able to acquire their music from Ocean Records and is currently putting together a commemorative box-set to be released June 30th 2009 via Tooth & Nail Records. The band also recently began offering new T-shirt designs that are available from Zambooie. The band will play their first show in 14 years on June 14th 2009 at the Calvary Chapel in Diamond Bar, CA. I feeel the same way hskerman, I am not sure what extolier is trying to prove other than Salomon had a human moment at some point in time.
I have met the Crucified before and they are very genuine guys, despite the fact that from time to time, one of them may have had a problem.
And judging someone over one period of time is akin to some of these idiot preachers and their "Billy Graham is going to Hell" because he misspoke on the Larry King show at the age of what 90 something?
I just wish he'd be specific and say what he really finds so dang troubling.
Anyway, just got home from seeing The Crucified play and the guys still shout the message with BOLDNESS! As Sonny from P.O.D. encouraged all of us, let's go out and take a stand for Christ and speak out to the unsaved. Let's stop the bickering on YouTube message boards with other Christians and take Christ's message to the masses! After all, that is what we are called to do in the first place.

All of that being said, I was done with this video months ago,and done commenting on it.
I bear a crown and thorns tat on my right bicep just like Marks, I own or have owned all the music.
I've been in contact with Greg Minier, and Mark in various blogs, and on MySpace as well as Jimmy Brown from Deliverance, and they have all admitted to struggling with their faith. We all do.
God gives us the key, read His word and apply it. Mark wouldn't and hasn't defended himself as much as you all have.
Who cares? A tattoo means nothing if it isn't in the heart.
No kidding! Did you think this up all by yourself?
Mark DOESN'T HAVE to defend himself to you. I am really good friends with Mark, Jeff and Dirk. Never ONCE have they denied their faith. In fact, I find them to be more real than high and mighty clowns such as yourself.
You are no better than someone saying heavy music is evil for the beat or that the music isn't evangelistic enough. Wake up!
When did I say anyone denied anything? I said struggled.
I am high and mighty for saying you don't know Scripture? You obviously don't. If you've never struggled in your walk, maybe you've never really know Christ?
We all struggle.
I still listen to metal, play music, and think it's a great evangelistic tool, but the "evangelism" comes from music's lyrical content, not from the writers claims at Christianity.
I'm still waiting for even one scripture to refute a single thing I've said.
Violently opposed? Really? Did I threaten you or something? Are you that weak-minded?
Once again, what does ANY of this have to do with The Crucified and Mark Solomon? Get off your high horse and learn how to carry on a conversation in context.
Have you even gone back to my first comment on this video? Go there for the "context".
As I sit here pondering why I feel so strongly about Mark, and Greg and The Crucified in general. I realize that it IS all my fault. As a young Christian (18 years ago) I put too much faith in what they were doing ministerially. Expecting that they would continue on in study of the Bible and continue to be ministers was too much to hope for, and that broke my heart.
Yes, and we are ALL still wondering what the heck you are ranting about, or against for that matter. You've made NO case.
Your fault for putting faith in people instead of where it truly belongs. People have frailties and if you can't handle that then you really should join a different faith.
Please, let it be so! But we've heard that "story" from you before also...
Keep throwing out judgment. We can all agree it will come back to you ten fold.
Evangelism comes from PERSONAL contact with people, not through the music or even the lyrics. If that is the only evangelism you know, then YOU are once again the problem.
YOU have yet to point to ONE single fact on why you are railing against people, especially Mark Solomon. YOU started the fight, not him. So it is up to YOU to bring facts and information to the table.
To finally finish this, try a song Mark wrote himself when he still understood the rules. The truth of this song hasn't changed, just his, and apparently all of your perceptions of it. Back to the Cross you did it once you did it twice you've sinned again, and spit on Christ you asked forgiveness the other day same sin repeated, don't you get it? you don't know how to repent wearing grace thin, it's such a shame no willpower, lack of loyalty a new excuse, a dangerous game
repeated - you've sinned again weakness - you mock God mercy - your credit card you can't fool God - God's not mocked as the dog returns to its vomit so the fool returns to his folly will you learn from your mistakes? will you turn from your sin? you face the world and turn from God that's your bag and it's so wrong you don't know how to repent
The fact that literally every who has read my comments disagrees with me only further reinforces my belief that where goodness and righteousness once was, there is now rebellion and strife. We all must outgrow the angst that feeds this style of music, and grow in grace. I ate, slept and breathed the Crucified and other metal acts of the time for a decade, and grew very little, beyond growing a healthy hatred for Satan. Eventually the scriptures must change who you are, or you will be lost.
We come to God on His terms, not our own. We don't make the rules, we follow His. He chooses us, we don't choose Him.
Christians who swear, drink, smoke weed, and defend other "Christians" who "do their own thing"", are the reason no one cares about the cross anymore, churches are full of people who have no understanding of the scriptures.Jesus had 12 Disciples not 20, 000, because he preached against sin and hypocrisy. You sir, are the ignorant one.
And yet you are the one typing and judging people ON AN INTERNET FORUM that you don't know. Nice one. Makes me want to go out and be a better person so much more! NOT!!!
The Word of God isn't different for me than it is for everyone else. It is what it is. I know what the Crucified once did for me, and I know what Stavesacre isn't doing now. That was my entire point. The Bible says what sin is, and what it isn't, repeating what it says doesn't make me judgmental, it means I understand the rules.
Once again you prove that you are in the wrong. Thank you once again! Why don't you go find a little town in the middle of nowhere where you can follow your own narrow-minded view of Christianity, where the only people around you you approve of and are infallible (at least according to YOU, since that is all that seems to matter)
WOW, now YOU are speaking FOR God! Congratulations.
Like I said, go find yourself a small town in the middle of nowhere surrounded by people who actually give a care about your narrow-minded views. Because I, for one, don't.
The fact of the matter is that you are throwing the words of Christ out at other people as judgment. THAT IS speaking for God, and only proves how depraved you really are.
Like I said, go find somebody who cares about what you say, because everybody here knows that YOU are the one that is lost.

The Crucified, Deliverance, and Vengeance Rising all left a generation in the lurch. They were felled by Satan. Their ministries never matured, and the life changing music stopped.
Then we wonder why the Christian music "scene" has become so fake, and frustrating for guys like Mark. Perhaps if he had remained at the forefront the next generation of bands would be writing scripture instead of trying to copy the world.
A big responsibility, sure, we all bear them as we mature in Christ.
Well, if you would have gone on to read the rest of his book you would know where he IS doing ministry... who are you to say that just because he isn't doing stuff like he did with the crucified that he is no longer a threat to satan? (continued next comment.)
You're kidding me right? Mark Solomon from The Crucified and one other member went on to form Stavesacre, whom were active from 1996 - 2006, then got back together recently to record a new EP. Two members from Vengeance Rising are currently in the Christian metal band Once Dead. You need to specify and mention that the only guy from VR who fell away was Roger Martinez. Please get your facts straight because Deliverance did not fall under the traps of Satan.

If you scroll back you'll see my comments were in regards to the "frontmen" of the groups. Last time I checked Fearful Symmetry wasn't a Christian group, and neither is Stavesacre. Most of the other members of all 3 groups have remained faithful. Greg Minier, George Ochoa, Glen Mancarusso. Larry Farkas..etc. Praise God for that. The "mouthpieces" that the Lord once used for His glory have become something else. Roger fell the furthest, but is he any less disobedient than the rest?
I can't recall who's in Fearful Symmetry, unless it's Roger Martinez. You need to go back and listen to Stavesacre's albums because many of their songs are spiritual in context. Why you think they're not Christian is beyond me.
extoiler, please worry about your own walk and stop judging people. who do you think you are? no one has to rise to your idea of a christian life. when we die god isn't going to ask you how we did. you aren't a link the the chain of distribution.
its well and good to model your life after christ and perhaps you've convinced yourself that you are good enough at it that you are christ or at least have achieved some priveleged ground where you can speak for him. you haven't.
Hey, I was at that show! Front stage left, got to shout into the mic a couple time, and Mark jumped on me and my friend a couple times. Thanks for posting.
I got my nails and thorns tat in 1994. Same as Mark's, on my left shoulder, only smaller. It's a shame that the spiritual stances taken by some of the most influential front men of that time have waned. Jimmy P. Brown (Deliverance) Roger Martinez (Vengeance Rising) and Mark Soloman... Ministerially they have all become non-threats to satan.
While those they ministered too have gone on to become Pastors, Worship leaders and Missionaries. Please join me in keeping those 3 men in prayer.

I actually did read the first chapter and didn't need to read anymore. Claiming to be a Christian and actually following the instructions laid out in the bible are two different things. Refusing to actually "minister" in concert, calling out established Pastors, using mild profanities and street language in your writings, etc are all things contrary to fundamental Christianity. And those aren't judgments, they are scripturally based concerns. My heart broke after reading that chapter.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Also, to further clarify, I never said he had "left the faith" I stated he was no longer a threat to satan. You can't throw out the lyrical dynamite that Mark did with The Crucified and then say "Hey, I'm not a minister, get off my back!"
(cont. from before) maybe he changes peoples lives in one on one encounters with people on a day to day basis... as a front man of a band he struggled with pride... and hypocrisy, so maybe he did not feel called to that avenue of ministry after he finally got his life back in order... he was not living for God during the crucified years... i beleive that he has found a deeper walk with God than ever before... it's a shame that you are so quick to judge him without even knowing his story...

I will leave this conversation before it degrades into something no Christian would be proud of. Arguing doesn't become us. But I challenge you with this. Since you have read the book in it's entirety, and I haven't... Back up Mark's stances( all of them) with the Bible, if you can't, then he is wrong, period.
The Word of God judges our actions for us, that's what it's there for.
Prosper in Christ my friend, and enjoy the old Crucified videos!
good on you barnavkristus1 ... and i don't even know where to start w/ "extolier". put it to rest. enjoy the music and the many, MANY lives changed by Mark and the other bands mentioned. don't waste your time judging or assuming you know the intent, struggles or God's purpose for any man or their message. there is no scorecard in this life, only God know's people's hearts.
Heck yes! Love the Crucified! I got saved in Oct of 1988 (I'm 41 now) and I still got my T-shirt from a show I caught in '89 at a place called "The Basement".I have all their stuff on my i-Pod...this never gets old.Gettin' my Nails and Thorns tattoo soon.....God Bless The Crucified...
I was there. What Mark shared about the band and why they split was really kool too. The honesty and vunerablitity had such an impact on me. Ive had a chance to talk to Mark a few times and he was so humble. I was a stupid kid the first time and I wanted to talk band this and that. We were at cstone and he said can we just hangout and talk about other stuff. It was kool. Because I learned that this was a person not a rock star. Everone should try to find Outercircle.
1991 I was in San Diego and found the crucified on tape. I looked everywhere for a (CD Towers etc.) No luck. Some dude heard me wearing out the tape and said they saw this band on a T.V. in a Christian book store. I made my way down there and a lady led me to a microfiche and I looked it up and ordered the CDs. I became a Christian in 1997. The Crucified was a part of it. I just recently hunted down Straining Life. Awesome!
Wow and like...wow. Footage of The Crucified finally on You Tube! I became a believer in 1991 and one of the first tapes I bought was "The Pillars Of Humanity." Still have my original copy too. Never got to see these guys in concert (I couldn't go to their reunion show in June '95 at The Flipside because I was graduating high school and had prior committments). I've seen Mark Soloman twice though, once with Stavesacre in '98 and once when he joined The Blamed onstage in '95.
Just recently got into The Crucified as their stuff is raw and not cheesy lyrics with a cliche punk sound. What are some other bands like them?

Please join me in keeping those 3 men in prayer.

you need to read Mark's book... Mark has NOT turned his back on the faith... it's a shame you'd be so quick to judge

Also, to further clarify, I never said he had "left the faith" I stated he was no longer a threat to satan. You can't throw out the lyrical dynamite that Mark did with The Crucified and then say "Hey, I'm not a minister, get off my back!"
Romans 11:29 (KJV)
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
I have struggled in similar ways myself, we all have. Once called by God, it no longer matters what we want. It only matters what God wants from us.

(cont. from before) maybe he changes peoples lives in one on one encounters with people on a day to day basis... as a front man of a band he struggled with pride... and hypocrisy, so maybe he did not feel called to that avenue of ministry after he finally got his life back in order... he was not living for God during the crucified years... i beleive that he has found a deeper walk with God than ever before... it's a shame that you are so quick to judge him without even knowing his story...
