Why does everyone speak so negatively about Xbox360, Nintendo, and Play Station? Even I believe some consoles are better than others, that can only be a fact. What defines a great console is its amount of features, and how great its hardware is, but what's important are its games. I would honestly play the Sega Genesis or the Game Boy over any console 1999- Just because I enjoy their games. Yes Xbox had Halo 1 and 2, but every console has a share of awesome games... and closed minded fans.

I personally love the Xbox and the Xbox 360. I think Xbox 360 is funner than Playstation, I have respect for the Playstation consoles and the Nintendo consoles. I bought the Playstation 3 when the console first came out, and i had it for 3 yrs and the only games that I loved were Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid 4.

I've been a fan of PS for some time but it doesn't take a genius to realize both consoles during that era had something the other didn't have. PS had it's extensive library and x-box had it's amazing computing power. Seriously, x-box was a f*cking beast for it's time. It loaded games faster, it was easier to mod, and the console had games with incredible graphics. I love the original x-box but 360 just seems like a failure to me. Much less reliable than it's predecessor.

Saw a friend playing KOTR, went out and bought an Xbox and it was easily the best console of that generation.
Still have my original Xbox which i got in late 2001 early 2002 and i't one of my favourite consoles of all-time just behind the PS1. The hardware was good which then allowed for great games to be made.
I have also owned a DreamCast, GameCube and PS2 all from early on in their lifespan but i think Xbox beats them as the console i had most fun with from the (128bit era).

Simple, bro. Microsoft, like Nintendo, was known for Quality. Well, normally. (PC-wise.) So most people no doubt banked on that, and were getting sick and tired of the quickly rushed Playstation games with 10 minute loading times for 1 minute cinematics on games such as Resident Evil 4 (Loved that game on Gamecube, but the PS did expand on it.... so much x.x) and games like FF-X....2.
Well, that, and America's love for the FPS genre. Nintendo was also suffering from a kiddy image unfortunately. Basically, the time was ripe for a viable third contender, and MS had enough money to burn to make it work. It still couldn't touch the PS2, but it managed to edge out the Gamecube in worldwide sales, which made the Big N realize it had to fight smarter, not harder for the next generation.
I hate how Microsoft just dumped the original xbox after 4 years (3 years in europe) and came up with a white rubbish botchery that failed like 90% of the time, you couldn´t talk about xbox 360 without mentioning the hardware failure and that scared me off into buying one, I later played X360 by my cousin who bought one but it didn´t impressed me, Perfect Dark Zero and Halo 3 sucked and so did all the other games or you could just get it on the PC.
I hated it when people said that the duke controller was too big... I have small hands and I thought it was perfect! I love the bigger controllers because I do better with them, especially with FPS games, I sucked with aiming with the S controller, but I was MUCH more accurate with the duke controller. Although... nothing beats the keyboard and mouse but that's MY opinion. I think I'll look for a Duke to 360 adapter thingie now! :P
I love both the original console and the 360, but wake up. That original controller was way too big! Until the Controller S released, I used a peripheral called the x-connector to use a PS2 controller on my xbox.

I actually even like the N64 controller even though a lot of people hate that one. When it comes to Playstation I have to say I HATE the controllers. They just don't fit your hands naturally. That said, I actually like a lot of the games the Playstation consoles has to offer.

When I decided to buy an Xbox360 or a PS-3, I started thinking about every PC I've ever had and how often it froze up, crashed or broke. Original xbox never had 1 problem. Xbox 360 suffered RROD, but MSFT sent me a box, I mailed it & a week later it came back fixed. Not a prob since.

I've been a fan of PS for some time but it doesn't take a genius to realize both consoles during that era had something the other didn't have. PS had it's extensive library and x-box had it's amazing computing power. Seriously, x-box was a f*cking beast for it's time. It loaded games faster, it was easier to mod, and the console had games with incredible graphics. I love the original x-box but 360 just seems like a failure to me. Much less reliable than it's predecessor.

xbox can't compare to playstation. Even the new xbox has a 55% failure rate and now it gets the red dot of death. The playstation has a 10% failure rate. Wii has a 5% failure rate. During Nintendo vs. Sega, I was Nintendo all the way bc NES and SNES were better machines. When playstation launched, I latched onto ps bc it was a better console than N64. Had Dreamcast, great machine but I ditched it after they announced they were stopping support. PS2 was a good machine, but overrated. Gamecube was decent, was behind the times.
Saw a friend playing KOTR, went out and bought an Xbox and it was easily the best console of that generation.

Still have my original Xbox which i got in late 2001 early 2002 and i't one of my favourite consoles of all-time just behind the PS1. The hardware was good which then allowed for great games to be made.
I have also owned a DreamCast, GameCube and PS2 all from early on in their lifespan but i think Xbox beats them as the console i had most fun with from the (128bit era).

they should have made an xbox slim before they made the 360, and not have let it bite the dust. the ps2 sold units until 2009. xbox was only 2001 - 2005. if they had waited 6 months, worked out the bugs, thought of ways to incorporate both system for this gen, we would still have the original xbox today.

The ring of death is not a issue with 360 anymore, and it has way better online capability than the ps3. The membership is only $50 a year. So even your poor welfare mom can afford that.

Simple, bro. Microsoft, like Nintendo, was known for Quality. Well, normally. (PC-wise.) So most people no doubt banked on that, and were getting sick and tired of the quickly rushed Playstation games with 10 minute loading times for 1 minute cinematics on games such as Resident Evil 4 (Loved that game on Gamecube, but the PS did expand on it.... so much x.x) and games like FF-X....2.

Well, that, and America's love for the FPS genre. Nintendo was also suffering from a kiddy image unfortunately. Basically, the time was ripe for a viable third contender, and MS had enough money to burn to make it work. It still couldn't touch the PS2, but it managed to edge out the Gamecube in worldwide sales, which made the Big N realize it had to fight smarter, not harder for the next generation.

As for the console, itself, got mine in the first months,
loved DOA 3, PGR, Jet Set Radio and Shenmue.
however.because of the poor support in Japan
they could not come up with more games,
so...although it had the second version of my all time favorite game,
Shenmue.it was not my favorite console.well, the 360 did well
in first years, still doing kinda well, but they need to come up
with a real strategy as for Japan...maybe releasing JRPGs with
a better time management, damn SONY!, lol.

I hate how Microsoft just dumped the original xbox after 4 years (3 years in europe) and came up with a white rubbish botchery that failed like 90% of the time, you couldn´t talk about xbox 360 without mentioning the hardware failure and that scared me off into buying one, I later played X360 by my cousin who bought one but it didn´t impressed me, Perfect Dark Zero and Halo 3 sucked and so did all the other games or you could just get it on the PC.

I hated it when people said that the duke controller was too big... I have small hands and I thought it was perfect! I love the bigger controllers because I do better with them, especially with FPS games, I sucked with aiming with the S controller, but I was MUCH more accurate with the duke controller. Although... nothing beats the keyboard and mouse but that's MY opinion. I think I'll look for a Duke to 360 adapter thingie now! :P

I love both the original console and the 360, but wake up. That original controller was way too big! Until the Controller S released, I used a peripheral called the x-connector to use a PS2 controller on my xbox.

@samus2260 I don't give a fuck about the looks of it, but it felt like holding a huge and heavy rock. So far I think Nintendo has been the best with their controller designs. I actually even like the N64 controller even though a lot of people hate that one. When it comes to Playstation I have to say I HATE the controllers. They just don't fit your hands naturally. That said, I actually like a lot of the games the Playstation consoles has to offer.

When I decided to buy an Xbox360 or a PS-3, I started thinking about every PC I've ever had and how often it froze up, crashed or broke. Then I thought about my PS-2 and how many DVD's I have watched on it and how it just works 100% of the time, without any trouble, Left it running all night long, whatever 10+ years going strong.

@omenroc1 how ironic bc I bought a launch PS2, and after a few months my PS2 wouldn't read purple PS2 games or psone games, eventually it quit reading any disc at all. I also have an 80 gb backwards compatible PS3 and I've had to replace the optical drive TWICE and I had to replace the cooling unit and reflow the motherboard bc of overheating probs.
Original xbox never had 1 problem. Xbox 360 suffered RROD, but MSFT sent me a box, I mailed it & a week later it came back fixed. Not a prob since.
