I cant believe you are so humble ... man you are my brother and so inspirational I would love to meet you.. I am from NYC and was also bullied, but you handled that very well. I am so happy that there are ppl like yourself... Just in awe at your strength. I would have tried and killed those kids in that school if i saw this going on I would loose it.. but you didnt , and im so proud of you... god bless you!!!!
Look at it this way- at least the incident happened in a classroom where the teacher was present and called security. Imagine if this happened in the street after school w/o any adults present, could've been a lot worse.
And everywhere you go you'll meet stupid people who operate only through the sheep mentality. It's good to know you're not stooping to their level and trying to get retaliation and escalating the pointless and idiotic 'gang war'. Ignorance will never fade away.
Great video ..... no ever tried to hit me in high school but i was very much a loner and i didn't care about popularity which made me an instant target i had people spit on my shoes and say very nasty things to me but no hitting. I've forgiven all those people because like in your situation i came to find out that they weren't obnoxious people they just wanted to be popular.
How is hitting, spitting, or generally picking on someone in order to be popular a more forgivable than any other reason? That seem like the worst reason of them all.
Some people will do the most dumbest things to get recognition. It's obvious that the guy that started the fight with you did it for recognition and then felt very guilty about it which is why he became so polite to you afterward. That is a good thing of course b/c other people are so cold hearted that they will take pride in hurting another person. It's very good to see that you're still alive today but very sad that Derrion Albert wasn't able to make it.
has really inspired me along with Khadijah's who was raised by a single parent from shelter to shelter and is now going to Harvard. Well, God Bless and Peace Dream!
all of stuff that took place from previous grades. I sometimes wonder if public schools were more strict, if Columbine would have ever happened. Seriously, being somewhat more emotional than your average boy, I really had alot of esteem and emotional problems that still effect me to this very day. But on a brighter note, I'm WAY better in high school because I hang around alot of kids with similar interests as I. So when I am called a 'lame', I just usually let it right pass me. But your story..
Yeah Dream, I've always been picked on ever since 2nd grade for being different. In elementary I would get in trouble not for starting some mess, but for retaliating in a negative manner to it. I mean I was really smart (had an IQ of about 130 in 3rd grade), but when it came to the problems I had, I didn't know how to handle it. In middle school it got worst physically as well as mentally. I remember I would just fly off the wall at every situation because I was so emotionally unstable from ...
and i mean i know its not right but the truth of the matter is "popular" kids have it easy while the less popular kids have it rough always having that popular kid pick on you and you cant do a damn thing about it i guess what im trying to say is its either bully or be bullyed i've done both in my life and i hated both i only bullyed to be COOL but i never felt cool
you know if that was me i probability would have stooped to his level and hit him in his fucking face but then again you have to ask your self IS IT WORTH IT and most of the time the answer to that question is NO
haha its cool..only thing i can tell is that i can actually understand u.. i have Jamaican neighbors and sometimes i don't know what the hell they are saying...
Well that's really the dialect and not the accent. My American friends don't understand me when I speak to my mom or other Trinidadians/Tobagonians in my dialect. I understand Jamaicans and other West Indians easily though, even when they speak in their dialects.
Yeah I've thought about it, but it's a bit hard to just turn on. I tend to switch to it when I'm speaking to other West Indians or people I'm really close with and know that they understand it. Who knows though, I may do it someday. :)
The drama starts in Middle School. I know, i was the outcast because i was different and i didnt talk to no one. They use to kick me, spit in my food, etc. Truthfully, stuff like this will never stop......................EVER. As long as there are demons and evil in the world, which will never leave, then bullying will never stop
Wow, you really had it rough. Apart from that incident and a few other squabbles I didn't really have many problems in that school. I just kept to myself for the 2 years I was there and then transferred to a school in Queens that was the total opposite of what I had to deal with there.
Reminds me of a song though the video to which I apparently can't post. Search The Offspring Come Out and Play Lyrics on YouTube.

I've been in a similar situation but it's too long a story to type here. Senseless violence is just that, senseless.

The inner city public school system is nothing more than a prison for teenagers.
