LOL this was posted one day before my accident back in '09. Car pulled out and plowed into the side of my bike (car leg bike sandwich). I still have a fucking dent in my shin muscle area. Good times. Thanks for posting brotha!
i dropped my ybr today.....driving to fast for the situation and scraped my baby up pretty bad......hurt my rist and my pride.....been riding for 5-6 years and im still learning .......dont get cocky i gess is the lesson of today.....love the ybr tho...takes being dropped really well....very good bike for a berginner...60p indicator bulb and she good to go again.....if your learning or not....these bikes are great little machines, cheap, reliable, easy to maintain, you wont be dissapointed
first time i came of was at about 7 miles an hour the ground had gravel on it felt like such a prick the next accident occurred about a month later this is what i would count as my first accident the main road was seriously congested so i went on a side street bombed it at fifty and some prick reversed out of his driveway broke front wheel locked in about a second i was doing about 46-48 drove the bike home that night but i learnt my lesson cagers are fucking idiots never think one wont pull out
Sorry mate forgot to mention your spill, it gets to you wondering what went wrong and it hurts your pride but we ALL spill sometime, like you said its a steep learning curve, your alright though so thats a plus, good luck & ride safe
why dont manufacturers put bigger tyres on ALL small cc bikes?.....then these unfortunite things wouldn't happen to us as much(bigger tyres more traction)...
i totaly agree with you, small tires are good in straight lines but as soon as u lean it a fraction they pannic and try to drop the bike, suzuki had the right idea with the van van but i never liked its aperance
@ianpatterson123 not true, I'll take a 3inch tyre to the shoulder any day, its your riding skill that needs improving like knowing when you can lean it right over, wide tyres give less traction in poor conditions due to weight thats why field bikes have skinny tyres
@ianpatterson123 Bigger tires aint the answer buckaroo, skill is. I ride a 91 Beemer GS with skinny tires and it gives the fat tired sport bikes all they want in the twistys. I have beaten the hottest bikes with so so riders for years now. I finally came up on one I couldn't beat, on a brand new Aprilla Tuono, but I had my dog riding on the tank that day and my tires are bald as shit right now. ....I was able to stay with 50 yards for a couple of miles when it was down hill, up hill no.
only crash i had was doing my DAS: I realized that on big bike, its hell to u-turn, because handlebars only make restricted angle to rider's normal to front, so, just before my test I locked them to the right, and did my very slow over ambicious U-turn, and the bike started to fall. I decided to leave it right to last min to stop it, but when I put my leg down, i desovered bike was so heavy at that angle it didnt do anything... and bang! broken break lever and indicator... lol. was thrown clear
lol, you sound like a dentist looking inside a mouth in the first section.
Its good motivation to buy riding gear. Can reccommend textiles, and especially riding boots, and certainly gloves.
Its good to go mountain biking, because you have a few falls and it really hammers home how fragile 2 wheels is. glad ur ok. can recommend michaline tires too.
def dont touch front brake in wet unless upright, but sure you know that.
Forgot to mention, that roundabouts are notorious for oil and fuel spillages which when wet or damp are hot spots for front end loss of control on your bike. I have even felt the back tyres slip out at roundabouts, very unnerving. Don't be put off though, i started riding 19 yrs ago and both of my spills happened in the first two yrs been ok since,i just ignored the idea of leaning hard into junctions and aim to keep the bike as upright as possible especially in winter. Happy riding mate :-)
I know the feeling only too well. Crashed twice. First crash someone plowed into me coming from a junction at my right hand side at night time, was the lady in the cars fault. I was ok but the front end of my yamaha Dt was buckled to pieces. The second time reminded me of your crash. I turned right at a junction and the front end gave way, down i went got up again and saw a flat crushed coke can near my front wheel (culprit). Was fine a bit bruised. Both crashes happened at night. Take care mate.
yeah its gotta happen to us all some time so best to get it out of the way early in my eyes lol but the bruising is bad after a lowside especialy down the arms lol glad to see you came out ok tho :)
Your absolutely right there. I think riding at night is when you have to be more alert than ever, other peoples reactions are slower in the evening time and conditions get more slippery. Unfortunately having to watch people in cars left / right at junctions and roundabouts comes second nature as you know. I always ride left to the centre line of the road, that helps avoid a potential collision from vehicals on your left at junctions, saved me bacon a few times.
yup exactly, ive started waing at cars that see me at junctions and like you move over to the center when passing them, i treat every other veicle as if they havnt seen me so that saved me a few times befor, had a near miss with a white van and a taxi, both on 40 mph roads so that woulda hurt and i'd prob not be here if i hadnt seen them, but i try to aviod riding at night as much as possible but sometimes i cnt aviod it
The waving thing is a good idea the more noticeable you are the better. Funny you mentioned a white van. I have had more near collisions with the white man white van syndrome than i can count.
ah thats fair... On the honda CG its pretty much a solid bar going directly across the bottom of the frame connecting both sides... mounted to the casings... where as on most bikes you have pegs mounted to the hangers... the bar is cheap and cheerful but a royal bastard for going down low... yo dig that bastard into the ground and you will be chewing road in no time flat
i can imagin bro, thats why i dont tilt the bike too far in corners as i know my peg would be the thing that takes me out if i did, as for the bikes balance its great so that aint the problem with leaning thank god, its like you said with the peg being solid it will send the bike on a one way ticked to the road
thanks for the veiw my friend, yeah it wasnt that bad of a crash and i dont lean in the rain anymore thats for sure lol, only just fully regained my confidence after it and its all cosmetic and is now all healthy again :)
the bikes all better now ^^ i got all the parts replaced thank god lol yeah i allways have my protective gear on so minimul damage done to me thank you for the comment
Well Im certainly more concerned about YOU than the bike, so Im glad you survived with just a scrape on the knee. Let that be a lesson not to ride your bike in the rain around curves like that. /hug/
thanks :) but i heal by myself, i gotta pay for the bike healing lol nah it coulda been so much more worse than that, i am just thankfull i wore my gear, i will never ever ride without my gear on lol i'd be in hospital or the morge right now if i didnt
ohh ya gotta love the jack mate :) yeah i was lucky to get away with a road rash and major headache haha and the bike is just cosetic work, the ferings wernt touched thank god
Well at least both you and the bike are in one piece, I think you've just been initiated into being a true biker and the benefits of learning some bike maintenance and repair skills.
yeah i am lucky man, coulda been soo much more worse, iadvice it bro, best thing ive ever done is get my bike. just dont be like me and get stupid thinking your invincable or this happens lol
me too man, i'd have hated for any long lasting damage, i am still a bit pissed of at the little damage it took, suprised how little tho for a 30 mph slide
That crash is the same that happened to me today, we have even got the same damage. But yours was a bit faster, glad your okay too.

I came off mine on ice recently, TWICE in the same journey!
The left foot rest sheared completely off and the clutch lever has been bent back. Thankfully there's no scratches or dents.
Lesson learned!
Safe riding dude.

You got off with about the same amount of damage I got away with on my CG 125 when I caught gravel on the edge of a roundy about 2 years ago.
Good one though mate.
Are the pegs a bar mounted to the frame/casings or do they have a spring like mech so they dont dig in when you go down low?

their mounted directly onto the frame, the only thing between them and the road is the rubber pad that you saw cut up

Well consider it a lesson well learned. Nothing major broken.
The roads here in the US are slick as snot the first hour it rains. I don't lean so much as creep when the road is wet.
