Male cats do this all the time over territory or a female. They usually don't do much harm to each other; mostly noise.

Even a water hose isn't always enough to break up a cat fight as they have no interest in distractions or reason when they are in that mode. Only a fool tries to break it up by hand. If it is broken up, they'll run off and fight elsewhere out of your reach. A cat can throw about 10 blows+bites (combined) per second so keep your hands out of it if you don't want to bleed.

Well Mike, I happen to like animals a lot and think all domesticated animals should have someone to take care of them since they have a miserable and short life when they don't. Most people who allow cats to breed out of control don't keep the kittens - they give them away or let them run wild. Responsible pet owners don't bring animals into the world they don't want and won't take care of.

The best way to break up a cat fight is by making a loud noise like yelling, clapping, slamming something on the ground, or charge up to them like you're gonna jump on them. That usually startels them, ending the fight.

NEVER try to break it up by pulling one off or getting in between them! When you do that, you risk getting scratched or bit by the cats.

Lol, my sister's cats fight all the time and they rarely even get hurt. Usually just a few bites, scratches, and slaps. Most of it is just grappling and rolling anyways. It's really rare if a cat gets injured in a fight with another cat and I've never heard of any case of a cat fight where one killed the other.
