Thanks.......... I've been trying to figure out how to groom my Lhasa Apso for some time. The #10 cut is helpful information. My Oldest Lhasa Apso is the problem. He is 12 years old, going blind, and tends to resist any attempt to trim around his nose.
Also, I'm not sure how to cut his hair, but I like it close to keep him cool in the summer, and require less frequent grooming...
What were you putting on the dog's legs from the shaker tin? And did you brush out the mats on the legs? They look so matted in the beginning, but you had nice plush legs at the end. What's your secret?
Thank you everyone for your comments! Please know that I had no choice but to brush this little guy out. If I hadn't he would still be a matted mess! I understand that some of the viewers did not agree with putting him through all that brushing; believe me I understand.
Liz i am in awe of what a fab job you did, my lhasa wags is like that at the min and ive started doing him myself, what is the powder you put on gus's legs? i'm finding the legs the hardest at the minute. How do you do the face without hurting them? many thanks.
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply! I don't go onto Youtube very often. The powder I used was corn starch. It makes the hair slippery and easier to dematt. If it was up to me I wouldn't have put Gus though all that pain. The only way he would ever get groomed is if I didn't shave him down. Good luck with your lhasa and be careful, over brushing can cause slicker burn and irritate the skin.
OK everyone knows that dogs hearing is much more sensitive than humans, right. Did anyone notice that the groomer was wearing ear covers cause of the the loud sound from the dryer. Hello!, can you imagine how the dogs ears feel
we use cotton in the ears for any animals that we are bathing and drying.... cotton is removed after the drying process is finished.... this can also be helpful with animals that are hard to handle when drying....
I groom dogs like this that are rescued and it breaks my heart. Do people not realize that this is cruel and VERY painful to your animals? I think that they should have been turned in for animal cruelty. If you dont want to take care of a dog then dont get a dog.
thanks everyone=] gus was mad at me during the first day of prepping but when he was all cleaned up he strutted his stuff! if anyones hiring let me know!
I am a dog groomer, and sadly i see dogs like this all the time. I hate seeing dogs look so uncomfortable, and some owners can be difficult to deal with on the subject of matted dogs. But its worth it in the end, after all that work to have a clean, happy dog.
Is that talcum powder in the shaker ?

I like how this groomer has the dog practically strangled with noose to make her job easier and faster

@audifan2002 if youve never groomed a lhasa that bites, you go ahead and try to groom a dog that bites with no restraints!!
