What I loved about this film was that it isn't just another Nightmare on Elm Street sequel: it's a postmodern metafilm that unnerves with the idea that reality itself has multiple layers, all of which can become nightmares.

Even without Freddy, who was actually frightening in this movie, some of the themes (such as predetermination, self-fulfilling prophecies, losing control of one's own life) make the film positively terrifying.

I have to say it was pretty good. I like the regular Freddy a little more and I think it'd be even cooler if Robert had more of an on screen role playing himself or fighting Freddy (and why he was acting all weird I don't know but maybe it just comes with the character). I agree with Child's Play, but WCNN brought Freddy back to the name of horror rather than black comedy. After the first and second Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy was a joke. This movie made Freddy darker and creepier, the way he was intended to be.

But hey, that's just one slasher buff's opinion. You can think whatever you want. I don't really care. = )

Alright I kinda take that back. ust saw it tonight. Half of me liked it, the other hated it. Part of me liked the new look, story, the fact that Freddy got right down to business and didn't joke as much, and it's idea that this is the real Freddy, but a bigger part didn't. I'm just used to the idea that the series Freddy was the real one, and wasn't all that comfortable with the idea that the stories before were all movie's within the movie. Still it was pretty fun to watch them fit in the cast.

I like the original Freddy look more. He looked far more burned, and he isn't really supposed to be like this. He's kinda more humorous and less evil looking (and that's saying something). I don't really like remake's all the time but this could be good. I just bouht the 5-FvsJ pack today and I'll check it out since I LOVED the 1st 4 pack! Rob is AWESOME for never giving up Freddy! But as he said in the commentary of FvsJ to the idea of a sequel 'The glove still fits!". Rob RULES!

Okay, this is what the movie is about. All the actors and actresses from all the freddy movies play themselves. Robert Englund plays Robert Englund. Wes Craven plays Wes Craven. Freddy won't stop untill Heather decides to play Nancy, because nancy, in the movie, was strong enough to destroy him.

i enjoyed "new nightmare" , because at the time, the plot idea of a movie about a movie was still not being used as often, plus it brought back Heather Langenkamp ^_^ Freddy appeared much more dark and sinister in this film, the way he shouldve remained in the NoES franchise.
