As former station manager Bill @ KEOM 88.5 Fm used to say "You only thought they had gone away"......Disco is alive and well today in 2011! The first of it's kind disco party in Branson Missouri was a blast on May 13,2011. The Village People's tribute to our service personall was very respectful. Maxine Nightingale and Taste of Honey did an awesome job as well. It was a pleasure and an honor meeting Maxine and getting her autograph.
I miss this,,,you realize the most dangerous thing in the world in 1978 was Disco? Seriously, that was the most peacefull time in america as we were tired of Viet Nam,,,,and the 80's crap hadn't happened yet
*Laughs* I can remember when the "Popeye" cartoon TV show had Popeye and Olive Oyl going out on the town to the "Slipped Disco"- a joke that only an adult would have gotten at the time. Now most cartoons have split plot lines- for both the kids and the adults.
The 1970's were unique in that the nation was spiritually tired. We'd completed 10 years of war in Viet Nam. The "Hippie/Flower Power" Generation gave way to mortgages, and children just like you. Then in the 1980's the flower children took over wall street and the 1980's became the decade of greed.
I always try to hide these if somebody comes to my house. It's really shameful to admit you bought these collections. But everyone seems to own them, anyway.
