  • replaying 6:00 over and over and over again. AMAZING!

  • 6:00 and on is the best part!

  • This is my second favorite finale!! My first is Brahms Symphony 1 4th Mvt. This has theb best endning to an ending mvt. though :D!!!!

  • 5:13 my favorite part

  • @Chessmapling that, and the 7 measures of build up before that :)

  • Whoa Woodwinds, settle down its not a dance competition, you are awesome, everyone notices you that's enough.

  • @emdb1981 Hah, it seems to be that one clarinet player who's the most carried away, complete with finger splays between fingered notes.

  • Here's my musical sandwich: Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Night on Bald Mountain, Sibelius Second Symphony 4th Movement, and then Moonlight Sonata again. Try it everyone. It's beautiful.

  • Does anybody know if the melody starting from 1:00 in this piece is a quote of anything. It sounds somehow familiar to me.

  • 2:20 just awesome

  • outstanding! the syracuse symphony youth orchestra is playing this for our last concert! so excited!

  • @kiwihead441 id say we did pretty good!

  • When I was 15, I played this in my youth orchestra. Its an incredible work, but again our band was for those aged 14-18 with a minimum grade standard of 6. Surely they could do something more a little more challenging at the proms?

  • @acl1022 Challenge is a matter of autonomy. This is incredibly challenging to perform if you have the personal and group standards for it. \Really, that comment is a bit of a slap in Sibelius' face.

  • @freekydeekydutchVI well said. I really wonder if that youth orchestra he is talking about really was able to play the music (probably only the notes at most)

  • @acl1022 you're a fool. This music wasn't written for some youth orchestra in the first place. It's music right from the heart of the composer.

Most annoying comment which makes many who reads this wonder if you really know what music is about.

  • the movement of this orchestra is amazing, and it really helps them play. i play bass and i get so into the pieces, even with a 6 and a half inch instrument in my hands, im swayin, swingin, kinda makin an ass of myself, but i feel the music, which is what classical music needs to be outstanding

  • This piece is simply amazing... i got goosebumps at @5:12

  • there are 12 bases u can tell at 5:42

  • i agree haha. i would move when i'd play violin. even when i played this song but they look ridic

  • Fantastic performance...apart from all the waving around when they play in the woodwind. I know they're "getting into it" but it's so irritating to see them doing snake-charmer impressions while playing. Amazing playing though!

  • As a clarinettist, the first clarinettist looks fucked.

  • I played this song my junior year of high school with the South Carolina 2009 All-State Orchestra at Lander University and Dean Angeles was our conductor and it is probably the best orchestra I'll EVER play with and we made him cry when we got to the point of 5:15 and he went off the podium during rehearsal and was out there for about 5 minutes. It was so amazing. I'll never forget that monent.

Truly this is one of the greatest songs ever.

  • @PelionHurdles5 Who was singing?

  • 5:20

    lol nice trumpet intro

  • um...some of the musicians look like theyre in their 40's or 50's. Like the principal trombone with the wrinkles and the balding head?

  • 5 string basses??? really?

  • if you look at 5:35 there's actually like 10 or something haha

  • @cazam At around 4:30 you can clearly see they're are at least 7.

  • @cazam

8 is standard for an orchestra of this size and a work of this kind, and in one wide shot 8 basses is what i saw. I was a bass player and have played this work several times

  • Especially the elf oboist. Watch going into 4 minutes in. Her ears look pointed.

  • "basically for a youth orchestra"? Nonsense. This is a superb performance, even some professional orchestras would play that worse!

  • Comment removed

  • true, but it's still a youth orchestra and i meant that this is one of the best youth orchestras in the world

  • @SorgenkindDesLebens not some, most! this is an amazing performance!!!!!

  • I love it

    This is so amazing

  • I totally agree with you

    I love Sibelius Symphony No.2

    It is like a masterpiece

  • It is "like" a masterpiece? It simply IS a masterpiece.
