  • I can't ever see these two finishing their route in time.

  • LOL Always a classic!

  • Like the "Rita Moreno Tribute Page" on facebook

  • The word was obviously Boob.

  • Hey You Guys ! ! ! !

40 years later it's still hilarious

  • Comment removed

  • The missing word is "Jello Pudding"

  • Kjempebra hihihi ;)

  • This was and will always be one of my favorite shows on Public Television that was ever made in the United States.

  • "well, that's the kind of problem you run into, you see..." LMAO! This show was awesome! Didn't talk down to us just cause we were kids.

  • Not even a white handlebar moustache can affect Cosby's coolness!

  • Rita Moreno is such a cute Taino!

  • The person who disliked this couldn't piece this together! B-O-T-T-L-E!!

  • @dvdtrr

    I think it's B-U-C-K-E-T.

  • @JunDageki Shut the fuck up! They don't want chicken you dumb trick!

  • Bill Cosby!

  • I watched Rita Moreno as the Psychiatrist on HBO's Oz and I could not imagine her hollering loud like that. I watched this show years ago and I always wondered who was the person who did that crazy assed yelling..........LMAO

  • "First of all we don't deliver bananas and besides it makes any sense to leave ONE banana of milk." LMAO Oh Bill.

  • Thank you for posting this. Do you have the "Hey You GUYYYYSSS" musical number?

  • LOL selling milk long before he sold Jello Pudding.

  • we can have milk delivered at my Apt building, still now. But it is in the regular non glass containers.

  • This aired three weeks and one day before I was born.

    Dawn

  • who in the hell disliked this? regardless on the longevity of the clip, it's still a classic! thanks for posting :)

  • OMG...it's Sister Pete from Oz. Wow. :| LOL that's awesome.

  • I think milk deliveries went out with pay phones

  • @FlamingoKicker Don't forget about ice delivery...though that went out many, many decades before the payphone.

You can STILL have milk delivered, these days. Oberweiss Dairy has a delivery service, I believe. I've known of a handful of people in recent years who have had milk delivered -- Oberweiss even uses the old, thick glass bottle! But your right, though, it certainly isn't anything like the old days, when nearly every home had milk delivered.

  • i watched all of this

  • lol hehehehehehehe and cool billcosby who does cool vice overs like fat albert extc and tvseris the coby familly and new fat albert live action movie anamation combo and is in the movie too i never knew he is the oringal cool tv seris electric company i new morgan cool freemond is:)

  • Rita Moreno is 40 years old here. She don't look a day over 30.

  • rofl @ Bill pointing to the words with a milk bottle. Wasn't the 70's the best? They even had milk-women in high heels.

  • i wast wondering where that came from. "HEY U GUYS!!!!"

  • wow, when i was a kid i had no idea that Rita Moreno was such a knock out!

  • This made my day, I love the electric company :D

  • So many sense memories coming back to me now...

  • Haha, Rita Moreno is AMAZING.

  • Of course Rita was famous before this...hello ever heard of West Side Story???

  • So funny. I crack up every time she yells, 'Hey You Guys

  • One of the most iconic female yells of all time. Right up there with Carol Burrntte's Tarzan

  • itz so clear

  • white mustache .....black hair.....lol.....great show.

  • Such a Taíno! Cute!

  • Notice the REALLY cool way our shows taught us how to behave socially? Kids just ARE NOT getting that anymore. It's a shame!

  • lol shes like locke from the goonies. HEEEEEEY YOUUUUUUU GUYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!@!!!!!!!

  • @mamaluigitoyou What do you mean Locke? The goonies weren't on Lost. Sloth yelled Hey you guys.

  • @rbh1138 I meant sloth LOL!

  • Thank you for posting this! This is the first time I saw this since I was in the second grade and watched this in school!

  • I had to look this up after Family Guy did the yell and the song. Also that old pinball thing from Sesame Street.

  • Is that Bill Cosby?

  • I wonder why Bill put on a fake mustache for this bit? Somebody let me know. God bless!

  • omg the clip is cut short! wtf did they figure it out??? omg!

  • THAT'S where "Hey You Guys" came from???? I had no idea! I watched this show as a child all the time and never had any idea what the hell that was about during the opening credits. You weren't supposed to know what the heck it meant, you just accept it because it's what you're supposed to like. I think that's why memes seemed almost commonplace by the time the 2000's came around, at least to me anyway.

    I am disappoint.

    I can haz cheezeburger?

All ur base are belong to us!

    HEY YOU GUYYYYYYS!!!!

  • I liked some of the characters but found the show to be patronizing. They made us watch this in the 2nd grade back in 1972, when we everyone in my class knew how to read. It always bugged me that the show assumed everyone watching was only 5 years old and did not know how to read.

  • wow

  • I'd hit it.

  • "ive got it a truck of milk" um ok LOL

  • I used to watch this sometimes back then. I lived in the country and it was one of 3 channels, though it didn't always come in lol. Oh the good ole days of home milk delivery in real glass bottles!

  • This is now my ringtone.

  • self-reliance

  • rita moreno AND bill cosby

  • I just watched these two on PBS as Cosby was getting the Mark Twain Award. Rita sang a jazz song to Bill and in no way could you tell by her voice she is in her 80's or pushing her 80's. They were best friends for over 40 years. What a woman still. Wow.

  • @RickE1poker She will be 80 on December 11th.

  • only looked this up cuz of family guy

  • OMG ITS BILL COSBY ;D

  • this is pretty funny :-)

  • It does not take much figure out that the B is Bottle. They are making it seem

challenging.I know its a kids show.

  • @doulasc You'd be surprised with what some kids would come up with to go there.

  • These shows are funny.

  • I was in a NY city Public School and we watched stuff like this in class, the teachers used to turn on the TV and there was something set up with one of the PBS stations.

  • WOW!! We would watch this in 1974 in my 2nd grade class...I am not sure how my teacher was able to record it...DID they have VCRs back then?????

    LOVED IT!

  • @Yabbadabbagirl Hi Yabba. Yes, they did have early Betamaxes back then, but most likely you watched it live, since I also watched it live in 2nd grade, but that was in the premier year of 1971-2.

  • @zenarcade64 Hey thanks for letting me know...did not know about BETAMAXES!!! I always thought my school was rather progressive for it's time! I LOVED the ELECTRIC CO and am glad you posted this ...MEMORIES!!!

  • @Yabbadabbagirl Yeah, we watched a lot of shows in the '70s in the classroom - "The Letter People" especially comes to mind. And as zenarcade64 notes, it was all live. The teachers probably made their lesson plans around the shows!

  • @Yabbadabbagirl: Betamax VCRs came out in 1973. Before that, there was the Umatic format released by Sony in 1969...schools and TV stations often had these (a few TV stations and production houses still have these machines to transfer those tapes onto more modern formats).

  • @Yabbadabbagirl: Betamax VCRs were on the market by then (1973); before that, there was the Umatic videocassette system (also made by Sony; introduced in 1969, this was used mostly by TV stations) and open-reel video recorders used by schools to record programming from public TV.

  • @Yabbadabbagirl reel to reel

  • HEY YOU GUYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awww man. Too bad this was not the whole skit. I have not seen these skits since I was a kid. Flashback to the days of milkmen.Too Funny!

"Milly, its 4:30 in the morning."

  • Yes indeed Rita famous before this, winner best supporting Oscar in West Side Story as Anita, and she was in one of the best musicals ever Singing In The Rain

  • The new electric company is shit on a bun. It teaches nothing but stupid rap songs that have no educational value.

  • Well, Mr. Li.

Any baby can deduce that the NEW "Electric Company"

is nowhere as classic as the original, but it DOES

ACTUALLY (if you pay attention) manage to successfully

blend a modern twist with the spirit of the original.

I find it to be the best thing to ever happen to public TV

in almost a decade, and also the best thing Sesame

Workshop could have ever done SINCE changing their

    name to Sesame Workshop. (Oy!)

    > Professor DLC

  • I remember when Morgan Freeman was in "Driving Miss Daisy" I saw the commercial on TV and thought, "that's the guy from Electric Company!!!!"

  • Cos' moustache was obviously mismatched,

  • Rita Moreno was hot back in the day, love the way she says "HEY YOU GUYS!!!"

  • @mojay11 Agreed!

  • Bill Cosby is so cool chewing that gum... You don't wanna yell, it's 4:30 in the morning you can't holla like that

  • wasn't there a sketch where Rita was too tall to dance or something?

  • now thats all people say is you guys this, you guys that drives me crazy

  • call me crazy, but I could swear Bill Cosby sounds like Andy Griffith

  • Ya Rita! !!!! Her and the asian girl in the EC musical group,THE SHORT CIRCUS. .... what ever happened to those kids?.

  • this shit is fuckin funny as shit

  • the new one's better

  • Love Rita

  • HEYYY YOUUU GUYYYSSS!!!

  • If you want to see Rita looking especially glam, search "Golden Girls s2 Empty Nest".

  • Nowadays, leaving a carton of milk at my doorsteps like that guarantees me NOTHING! Those young highschool punks have no respect for anybody!!!

  • DynaMo-reno...now with "Mr. Dad" Cosby!

  • HEYYYY YOOOOOUUUUU GUUUUYYYYS!

  • ...just be quiet. ;-)

  • Rita Moreno was hot!

  • she still is in my opinion

  • @denzelsnipes69 Ah, yes. Back when the country was full of Baby Boomers under thirty. Eye candy everywhere, to be sure :)

  • Wait Rita was 40 years old when this show came out? I've never seen this show before but from this clip she looks like a teenager!

  • Jakers! Rita Moreno was quite hot back then!!!

  • check her out in west side story

  • That "Hey, you guys! clip from episode 19 from that date, Thursday November 16th, 1971

  • "It's 4:30 in the morning. You can't hollar like that" LOL. Cosby & Moreno were great together.

  • I like this video. but I like the new lol.

  • hahahhaha, I soooo miss Ms. HEY YOU GUYS!!!!! - love from Manila, Philippines!

  • In another sketch, the Baxters went on vacation and hired this pair to watch the house. The Baxters left them scrambled instructions: "Pick up the dog, walk the plants, and water the mail."

The woman has to figure out how to unscramble them.

  • And how exactly is his squeezing her upper arm supposed to stop her from yelling?

  • This is incomplete

  • I know, sorry, but couldn't get the whole clip. Anyway this gives the main jist of it. Actually this wasn't the very first "Hey you guys" skit, but one of them.

  • @watsyorproblum41 Just try to figur out the rest of the clip like thet did the sign.

  • It's amazing how many people were on this show and were famous later on! (Like Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby, and Rita Moreno)

  • Yes, but Rita Moreno and Bill Cosby were famous long before this show. Actually Rita Moreno was told not to do this show because it might hurt her career, but she loved CTW and stayed with the show the whole time. You're correct about Morgan Freeman though. He was unknown before this show.

  • Quite interesting,

As famous as Rita Moreno was before "The Electric

Company", the greatest irony of it all is that the show

    made her EVEN MORE famous.

"The Electric Company" practically immortalized Rita

and from there, people started finally acknowledging

her role in "West Side Story".

    And another thing, Zen...

Why did you cut the clip so short?

    > Professor DLC

  • @zenarcade64 bill cosby was originally on I spy and the first bill cosby show series (no kids yet) and of course fat albert and then the electric company. Rita moreno was the sister of maria in west side story

  • @moxie96 Wasn't Fat Albert later than Electric Company? Or, at least during the same time period as the later episodes of EC? I watched both as a kid, but I always thought Fat Albert came out when I was a little older...I could be wrong, though.

  • Plus, Skip was in the original cast of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown which was huge Broadway-speaking, so he was not as famous as Rita or Bill but was rather well-known.

  • And Judy Graubert was a familiar face from tons of TV commercials.
