Plus they need to dress like this in certain styles because it's their skin that grips the floor during floorwork and also so that the muscles can be properly watched to stop them from doing moves wrong and potentially getting hurt. They also need to see the musculature to be able to gauge how fit they are and how much work they can put on the child. Parents don't make them dress that way, teachers do

That's what kids of ALL AGES need to wear when they dance. It's like wearing a sports bra to the gym. It's comfortable and flexible for them to wear. Plus, the dancing that Maddie does, you can't wear t-shirts and sweats and shorts. You need to be in clothes that let you move around the way she does.

She seems so comfortable with jazz here, why not on the show? On the show, she's still fierce with jazz, but her efforts seem a little more pained there, and she said herself that it "feels weird". This is just so fluid and flawless in comparison.

@thestuffykindofstuff I'm suspect about the results. I think Maddie danced as she always does, however, I think there may be some backlash, because of her story line on the show. Chloe is edited as the underdog and Maddie as the diva. Both are fantastic dancers, but I'm sure potential judges have seen the show and that may IMHO "unconsciously" factor in to their judging, especially if she is going head to head with Chloe.

Leaving Chloe entirely out of this, and leaving the fact that Maddie is the "diva" out, she still seems more comfortable with jazz here than on the show. She's amazing both times, don't get me wrong, but she does seem more like she's having fun here, whilst on the show she seems like she's being forced to do jazz, when she would rather be doing lyrical. I just found it strange.
