  • @Evangeline30575 lol no clue, I didn't write this comment.. it's the first time im hearing this song O.o

  • what is chemo limo?

  • I adore her, she's so brilliant and original!!! I mean: "crispy crispy benjamin franklin" ¿? wtf so and yet amazing

  • "i can't afford chemo like i can't afford a limo" this might be a stupid question but: do you have to like, pay for chemo or other medical treatment in the US?

  • @rebinsparkles yes. All of it.

  • @rebinsparkles lolyep. it's considered bad socialism if anyone even mentions otherwise.

  • I kinda feel like the piano part where she sings the "no thank you, no thank you" thing is supposed to sound like hospital sounds..brilliant

  • Chemo Limo (demo)

    Demo fits there

  • best line ever in a song Crispy Crispy Benjamin Franklin

  • oh my goodness i love the ; no thank you no thank you part <33

  • i love the way you can hear that she is smiling when she sings 'i knew it was a dream, right away i called the limousine company'.

  • When the song cut off, I swear my heart just sank and for a moment I was in utter despair. I wanna hear the rest of the demo!!

  • sad, but beautiful song.

my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 days ago. i don't know whether i want to keep listening to this song or not...

well whatever happens, it's part of God's plan.

  • @ivysaurr

yes its strange i use to love this song and now today is the first tinme i hear it sing my dad was diagnosed with cancer in august.

  • Her voice is haunting. THis song gives me goosebumps

  • this woman is a goddess amongst humans

check out my cover of this song if you get the chance!

  • Something about insurance policies

  • I don't understand why spitballz got 6 thumbs down? Someone wanna explain that one to me?

Oh and, great song, shame it's not the full thing.

  • aj waj

  • Soviet Kitsch is actually one of my favorite albums by Regina. I mean...her other albums are awesome, but I love these piano parts.

  • Such a lovely but sad song, it makes me cry each time I hear it. Absolutely one of her best songs!

  • Best Regina song Ever

  • Do you think the naroter of the song is a man or woman? It could almost be either. (Not regina, I know that sher is a girl)

  • MAKES ME WANNA CRY :'(

  • shit. it's not the whole song :(

  • Do wish I could hear the whole song.

  • When she says, Barbara she looks just like my mom, it gives off the impression that her mother had cancer & she is worried about her Barbara getting sick too. My, I must say. These lyrics are brilliant. I never get tired of hearing this song. There are so many ways that this song can be interpreted, its truly a work of art

  • i luv dis song. my sis showed it to me last week and i didn't like it at first but i like it now. its awesome!

  • it is mama !!!

  • I heard mama too.

  • Alec, I was gonna say "that's stupid".

But then i decided to pull out my phone first, and started listening to it, and damnit it DOES sound like that! haha. :D crazy.....

  • regardless to what lyric booklets or sites may say, I've always heard it as:

But mama gonna go out in style.

  • After hearing an interview with her on the CBC, I think she would totally love that. The kind of artist that leaves interpretation up to the listener.

  • I have the Soviet Kitsch CD by Regina Spektor, and in the lyrics it says she is saying "but mama gonna go out in style." I thought those were the lyrics?

  • same here

  • same here

  • Who cares what her sexual orientation is? I don't. She's an amazing song writer, singer, and person(based on the interviews I've seen). If she's lesbian, so what? Gays and lesbians are generally nice people anyway. If you think poorly of them, well screw you.

Regina Spektor is amazing, and so is this song.

  • lol i hit the poor comment thing by mistake....it was suppose to be a thumbs up comment!!! i sorry!!!

  • lol no she's just interpreting the story of someone with cancer

  • she's refusing to have chemo for cancer because chemo takes a lot out of you...and sometimes just leaves you weak especially if you have to do it over and over..so she'd rather not do that...she want's to go out in style hence the limo

  • hahahah

  • that and also its about how her health insurance cant pay for her chemo

  • it's cancer

  • can anyone explain me what does she means in this song?

  • Listen to the lyrics.

She had a dream that crispy crispy Benjamin Franklin came over and babysat her kids.

    (=

  • Hahahahahahahaha XD

  • it's about cancer!

  • No she doesn't have kids, It's just a song inspired by mothers with Cancer.

  • does she have kids? i don't think she does,,,,

  • i absolutely adore her. i just saw her live on friday, the most amazing thing ever!

  • i dont understand how so much brilliance can fit into one person

  • best description ever

  • I LOVE REGINA SPEKTOR!

yesterday i went to her concert in Amsterdam, she was great! even better than on cd.

  • saw her a couple of years ago and said exactly the same.

live is such a different experience.

    x

  • oh i'm so jealous..I wanted so bad to go to that concert :( but i had to get a flight to my home country on the exact same day T_T sigh

  • wow. that song is so pretty. i went to a Company Of Thieves concert and at the meet and greet the lead singer told me to listen to this song when I told her my name (because my name is Barbara). Regina has such a pretty voice.

  • YOU SAW COMPANY OF THIEVES.....wait back up......YOU WENT TO A CONCERT WITHOUT MEE???? WHO CARES IF U DONT KNOW MEE....TAKKE MEEEEEEE!!!!!!! haha lucky goose

  • this song is so gorg

almost makes you want to cry

  • this song i kinda scary:/

  • holy shit i must cover this shit

  • Dear Regina,

i love your music it makes me melt inside..

    kaygreatthanksbuy.. :D

  • i love this, i can totally visualize this in my head.

  • I agree :]

Most of Regina Spektor's songs are like vivid, melodical stories... :)

  • several of her songs are love songs to other women.

  • I've been getting alot of crap over ths so what I want to know as a BISEXUAL is why so many seem to be offended by someone suggesting she might be too?

  • All im trying to say as an artist and someone who is very intuitive and empathetic is she definitely seems like a lez to me, if you can read between the lines. I have both her albums memorized and have sang them kareokee to manys delight and im a guy so im not like some heckler or anything. I Just think we can sense our own.

  • Still im not trying to harp on the issue, but I have written songs and poetry. The number one thing is to draw from your own experience, express yourself and what you think and want to convey to your audience. Usually that audience is yourself. So im still in the dark if anyone could tell me where there is a definitive answer i would love to know.

  • This is the first Song about Cancer that I can finally relate to.

  • it makes me think of my mother who died of a brain tumor just over a year ago.

  • wait ive always wanted to know does regina actually have kids?? i mean she talks about them in this somg and idk if it was like a lil story she made up or if she actually has kids???

    Help me here.....?

  • all of her songs are stories. it has nothing to do with her.

especially since this song is about cancer....

which she doesn't have. *knock on wood*

  • oh ok cuz i wasnt sure lol thanks for letting me know although i do know that in the song that time the birds she sings about are true she did try to save them when she moved to the Bronx

  • Comment removed

  • shiftymerchant:what makes u think shes lesbian?I've never heard her say it.i'd love her to be lesbian though lol.

  • ...how could you possibly come up with that?

anyway, she dated a guy from the strokes, so something tells me she isn't..

  • I don't know, Im just going off of her songs she has more than one that suggests it. If you listen to summer in the city, it's a love song to a woman. There have been references to it in several others. Why would she write love songs for women? Just saying I would really like to know for sure, but I don't care I would love her no matter what. And dating a guy doesn't mean anything. There are gay people who are married to the opposite sex ,it doesn't make them not gay.

  • she writes in points of view all the time. like chelsea hotel- its's a love song to a woman, but it's quite clear in the lyrics that the story teller is a guy.

oedipus- she's not really a someone from a greek myth.

  • ":Spektor's songs are not usually autobiographical, but rather are based on scenarios and characters drawn from her imagination." - from her wikipedia page.

  • It's a funny thing that you choose to present these theorys about R's sexual orientation, based on the lyrics of some of her songs as a comment to a song about her a) having cancer and b) having kids. But maybe not so funny, just lacking in taste.

  • Well actually it's a song about her dreaming about the future but whatever if you look back a page you will see what started the comment but now im seriously thinking of removing them all. Im a huge fan of hers, I don't care what she does but a lot of other fans seem to take great offense as to her sexual orientation. I just have one little opinion everyone is entitled to their own, yours as well.

  • If summer in the city is about HER then whats the bulge in her pants that starts to rise? lmao.

  • Summer in the City is about her, or just some random girl. But in that part of the song she's commenting on things she's seen happen in the city.

  • It's from a male pov.

  • Why did it stop in the middle of the song? Just asking.

  • because its a demo

  • i've listened to so many of her songs, and still, her voiceis sooo unique! i've never heard another onelikeit. amazing!

  • i prefer the other version.

    silly WMG :(

  • I like this version more, she's clearer.

  • me too :)

  • this is one of my favorites....

  • This is a terribly sad song.

Regina did an amazing job, as always.
