@wrinkledlemon He didnt take it out, if you look at the production tab, the Warp Gate Research keeps researching. The Cybernatics core was powered by that lone pylon, so if it was taking out, Warp Gate research would've ended.

Mostly, I notice stuff like this when I run into problems like the one you just mentioned, but sometimes it doesn't work. What you should do is to look at the tabs :D

He tries to do that, but Red's Zealots can damage Blues, and with minimal micro the probe can be kept safe since it is faster than a zealot, allowing Red more hits on Blue. It's all situational.

Another reason to not attack the probe is you can damage the cannon quite a bit before it has finished warping in, if you chase the probe you get no damage done, and the probe is still alive (assuming a competent opponent), accomplishing nothing.
