These are the right chords although they are not in the key of the Beatles song, which is lower than this one. These chords are perfect for someone who want to sing in a higher tone.
Thanks LuthDrix I can't stop watching the video and can you make a tutorial of basic strumming to yellow submarine oh yeah and guys stop picking on him will you you got something nasty to say don't say it
Omg FINALLY someone that can teach... all these tutorials make you do a bunch of stuff and you cant follow along THANKS Luthdrix your a great teacher!!
I've spent about 2 hours trying to learn off other youtube videos - which all contained barre cords that I can't do - and then I found this and I learnt it in 3 minutes. Thankyou!
I picked up the chords online, but when I tried to play... It vaguely reminded me of the song, but thanks to you I'm starting to learn! Thanks for the vid and keep up the great work!
If you're saying that these aren't the "right" chords then you know nothing about music. These chords are not wrong, they're just different. This guy isn't claiming that these are the exact chords played on the original recording of Hey Jude.
Just taken up guitar lessons and that is how I have been practicing with those chords but I like how this guys does it, he does makes it simple. I find B7 a bit of a fiddle to get the hang of but I will get the hang of it in the end.
Man, what's with the hatin' because the guy is playing in the key of A? Any song can be transposed to any key, typically to suit a singer's range - in this case, A-D-E (I-IV-V) is, as the OP said, geared toward a beginner. If you want to add the dominant 7th, play E7 at the appropriate point. Add the minor 2nd (Bm) and you're good to go. In short - the progression is correct...there is no "wrong" chord. (Yes, the G-C-D-D7 (Am) would be right, too).
Everyone who's saying it's in F major is right. I play the song on the piano and I've played the song while having the actual version playing in the background so I know that for a fact. The way I know it is F C Gm Gm7 F Bb F C7 F. And that's just for the first verse. Again, that's for the piano, but yeah. Not the right chords.
i play but am sending your videos to a friend who just got her first guitar you are a very great one to learn from as she lives away from me to help her thankyou !
I don't mean to be a hater here, but this didn't help me that much. It was a well put-together video and lesson but I feel like the chords don't match very well with the actual song.
Hey, tahnk you soo much for such a simplistic but beautiful way to learn how to play Hey Jude.
I never knew I could even play guitar, but after having watched and practising what you played in this video I not only have the confidence but a slight belief in myself in accoustic ways.
Could you please show us all how to play the rest of the song.Thank you so much
this was amazing. Thank you so much. Im officially stressed to the point of no return and for my first night picking up a guitar to unwind or at least learn how to... i owe you amillion thanks. I would have probably lost myself if it wasnt for this video.
wow great lesson for beginners..you have the chords all correct and you change on the right words..so either you are real experienced or a die hard beatles fan like myself lol..anyways thnx for the lesson i enjoyed it..wayno800
thank you so much! I just started and this song is perfect for me to play and I'm able to play it. And you are a very good teacher, not too fast or too slow. I think the chrods go great with the song!!! thanks.
hey-i'm just learning to play and your videos are by far the easiest for me to follow-you are a good teacher. I have been looking to try to play the rest of the song but I don't know where to find the music. Can you let me know maybe where I can find it?
Actually I have been playing for about 15 years. And the reason I chose these chords is because they are easy for beginners to play. Sometimes as a teacher you have to make the sacrifice and chose chords that aren't necessarily the exact chords/correct key for the song, so that your student can play it.
Also if you are paying attention you would see that the lesson is titled "Basic Strumming". This is a lesson aimed at beginners. Not picky intermediate players.
You are wrong! The chords are b7, e, and a
