So that explains it! Trent reznor is hot!, the show did a very good job in depicting teen life in the 90's I think that is why so many people in that age range identify with it. I haven't heard of alice in chains in forever I have an older bro who listened to them all the time. Never heard of NY Losse though. I loved the spice girls and backstreet boys though, sigh memories.

The set is a great purchase. Every episode uncensored, albeit minus the original background music, but what they get fits too. The bonuses are nice; the Daria Day intros, Sealed with a Kick pilot episode, a music video for Freaking Friends and the script for the pilot episode of the Mystik Spiral spin-off show. Great purchase, and all I can say is...bout freaking time!

I remember the credits would close with other music more often than not and now it just uses the theme song for 99% of the episodes. Also, I see no censoring. I thought I heard somewhere that the movies were the edited ones but... I don't know. If they are I didn't notice.
It's understandable why they did not include the original songs for the DVD release, way too much royalties would have to be paid. Overall it is a good DVD set and if you are a daria fan it is worth getting.

As someone who's a teenager of this generation, I really wish I was subjected to shows like this on MTV currently. I vaguely remember staying up late at night, watching Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and Tool music videos, which my parents had frowned upon heavily. The history of tv shows and cinema will always be the place for lazy sundays (don't know what I'd do if I never found out about Ingmar Bergman), but I still wish I had a current/fantastic animated show for my generation.

Because they couldn't get rights for all the songs they used throughout the series without paying ridiculous licensing fees. Daria was made just before the TV shows on DVD craze and they weren't yet writing things like flat-rate song licensing for future DVD releases into the contracts when they started producing the show.

It's just the record labels, not the bands, but yeah, you're right. These are 10 year old songs that no one gives a crap about anymore anyway, so they would actually have a chance at reviving some interest in them if they'd let them be used.

Because they couldn't get rights for all the songs they used throughout the series without paying ridiculous licensing fees. Daria was made just before the TV shows on DVD craze and they weren't yet writing things like flat-rate song licensing for future DVD releases into the contracts when they started producing the show.
