  • i agree totally with gay marriage; you marry someone because they make you happy, and you want to spend the rest of your life with them, and if they happen to be the same gender as you, so be it!

But i think being homosexual is a choice. if it isn't, who's forcing you may i ask? God? I think not.

I think homosexuals are the bravest people on earth, becuase they take all this crap from homophobes. They do have a choice. Prop 8 is crap.

  • hey nice to see someone who agrees with and supports equal rights for everyone..

i think though, that being homosexual is not a choice, it is just something you're born with or whatever, just like being straight. you can't help it. but it's the choosing to come out and be one with yourself in front of the world is the hard part for homosexuals.

  • You are a dumbass. How can the definition of marriage be an invisible being? WTF are you talking about?

  • very good video, wish all ppl could see the truth that all ppl should have the right to get married to the person they love, be it gay or straight.

  • Wow. That was a great video! You made really good points and I completely agree. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION PPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing can justify what yes voters have done.

  • Look, I'm against homosexuality, I don't hate gay people, I just see what they're doing as wrong. I doubt anything reason I have to support this is going to convince you, so I'm not going to bother.

  • they're not doing anything, they can't choose to be gay, its who they are. its like saying i don't hate women, i just see what they're being is wrong.

  • Look, people. You are taking away people's rights. It doesn't matter what your excuses are, in this free country, depriving one group of people of a fundamental right is unconstitutional and is not what we stand for. If you think you have the power to take away a right of someone who never harmed you, then move to England. Or somewhere other than America. Because when people live in America, they are supposed to feel equal. They are supposed to be free to marry whomever they please.

  • Gays have the right to marry. The right to marry someone of the opposite sex. If a minister chooses NOT to marry a same sex couple who isn't even in his congregation he gets sued and loses his privilege to preach. If a church refuses to marry a gay couple, they get in trouble with the law. They lose their tax exempt status. What would happen if they lose their rights to choose NOT to marry a gay couple? How is THAT not taking away OUR rights???

  • gays do not want to wed at churches where they know that will happen, obviously. they would choose to wed somewhere where they know they will be allowed to marry whom they choose!

  • If that's the case why are gays attacking the mormon church, when only 2% of the people who voted yes were mormon. Gay People have placed bomb threats at their temples, and personal threats to individuals. Yet they claim that mormons don't know what they're going through. It used to being legal to kill a mormon.

  • hardly any gays hate mormons okay, dont get defensive.

  • Straight people have the right to marry the person they love. Gay people do not have that right. Prior to prop 8, courthouses could not discriminate against gay people for CIVIL marriages. Churches were free to discriminate for RELIGIOUS marriages. So what you say is not true. Regardless, it's an oxymoron that you would have the right to discriminate.

  • so what the heck is your position on this? im assuming your yes on 8?

  • How is it that a minister can refuse to marry a hetrosexual couple and they cant sue...but if a minister refused a same sex couple they could sue? Makes no sense. Must be another LIE. A minister can choose who they will marry, straight or gay. So we have not taken rights away from you....but you have taken them away from gay couples.

  • straight ppl can sue if the minister refuses to marry them. idk, but that doesnt matter, because that's not the point! its not about the money! i'm saying gay people wouldn't want to be married in churches that don't want them to marry. what kind of an ideal wedding is that?

  • Your right, why would I want to ruin one of the most important days in my life with the chance that some BIGOT might inject HATE into it. The day is all about LOVE!

and NO a minister can not be sued if he refused to marry a hetrosexual couple for any reason. A lie to gain sympathy for a bigoted cause. A hetrosexual can always go to the court house and obtain a civil marriage license. Gay couples can not.

Only in America can the oppressor play the victim card and get sympathy.

  • true. oh okay i thought u were against gay marriage.

  • Who gave you the right to redefine marriage for 98% of the population ?

    What about their rights ?

Why dont you create your own world with garriage as an institution ?

    Do not be a thief

  • you act like we are banning heterosexual marriage. we are not! what ABOUT straights' rights? they will stay the exact same, this law does NOT affect straight people at all!

  • and by the way, these people are HUMAN BEINGS. do not treat them like the dirt beneath your feet. do not call it "garriage", that's totally offensive. and do you understand how similar you are acting to those against interracial marriage? please.

  • You are basically calling me a racist and preach me about being offensive.

I love interracial, intercultural, international, interreligious marriages. They bring peace to the world by being bridges of understanding

SMS "marriage" and marriage cannot coexit under the same name because they are completely opposite in concept That is pretty simple and obvious. it is not about hate, discrimination, equality, civil right.

  • no, they are not completely opposite in concept. the true definition of marriage is love. why do you care if they coexist under the same name? we are all human beings..we all marry for love. you need to open your mind to the fact that your "concept of marriage" has not always been the only one and times have changed.

  • Times always changed. That's do no mean a thing.

if the true definition of marriage is love, then I can give this definition to every thing like

I love cheese, I love computer, I love money etc...

I do not want to be married to any of these things.

Your definition is not true and quite shallow.

With time, you will change as you wrote.

  • oh stop it, you know what I mean about marriage and that's a lame comeback. Please, let me clarify: People marry for other people because they love them. Are you ESL or something because the way you write really just doesn't even make sense.

  • actually, the true definition of marriage is: "the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc."

  • but why are we worrying about some definition, some rule, when we're dealing with real people and their feelings?

  • btw I'm sorry I called them homos, it was uncalled for.

  • because that contradicts what marriage is! If you want all the same rights as a married couple, get a civil unity, and they will give you all of the same rights and benefits.

  • if gay people have all the same rights as married people, howeve they can't get "married" then why the hell should they care whether or not they can call themselves married. you can't really call it discriminatory because all proposition 8 did was declare what marriage is. that being the case they can't get married, but why should that stop them from having a relationship or even care what people think. And yes if I really wanted to I could turn gay, because thoughts control our emotions....

  • and if I started dating other men, it would gross me out at first, but the more I subject myself to that type of living, the more I could be attracted to other guys. the same principle applies going the other way. Whether you are gay or straight all depends on the choices you make.

  • the only thing that Proposition 8 is doing is protecting the definition of marriage! All you homos are going around crying that it's taking away all you're right's? Shut the hell up! Proposition 8 doesn't take away any rights, and anyone who is trying to compare this to the black rights movement, doesn't know what the hell they're talking about! You all chose to be gay, which if it's something you want to do then go for it, but you can't have a man and a man married,

  • the definition. so, we're worrying more about a SENTENCE than real PEOPLE? don't say "homos" like that it's offensive. NOBODY CHOOSES TO BE GAY. why someone choose a life where people will shun them? yes, i CAN compare this to the black rights movement. stop pretending to be all saintly being so accepting of race. But why do you think it's okay to allow some people full, valid marriages, but not gays?

  • Yes you did CHOOSE to be gay! it's allways a choice! Some people might go around having mancrushes on all their football buddies, but that doesn't mean that they're obligated to marry one of them! They can still choose to refuse those...feelings, and they CAN still be straight! Also Why should you even care if they can or can't get married? they get the same legal rights with a civil union.

  • how do you know if people can choose to be gay or not? can YOU choose to be gay? Can YOU control your feelings for women and force yourself to crush on men? (assuming you're a guy). no, you can't, because it sort of grosses you out, right? well thats how it feels to them! it's not their thing, it grosses them out a little.

  • i know a man who tried to force himself to be straight, he married a woman and had a kid, then announced he was gay way later in his kid's life. she must have been hurt by the fact that he was living a lie, that she was born because of a lie..but this is what happens when society pressures our gay citizens to be striaight. they think they can make themselves be gay, but they can't take it anymore, and end up hurting more than one person.

  • ...in which case, you could argue the way to protect your children was to vote NO on 8!

also, i care because heterosexual couples are allowed to call what they have marriage and gay/lesbian couples are not. gays don't say i do. their marriage is counted as "invalid." all of this is discrimination. technically, they have the same rights. great. but disrcrimination still surrounds their "marriage." oh wait, you're not allowed to call it that.

  • sorry thats a myth put out by those who support prop 8

being gay is nto a choice

  • black people are one part of society, so are gays. therefore they should all have equal rights. your personal beliefs about marriage cannnot inflict on the law: the constitution states "every man was made equal", be he gay or straight. and who says you can't have a man and a man married? how will this affect YOU? what is going wrong in your life because of this? and why do you think you're so superior to them, that it is your place to decide who others want to marry.

  • you dont choose to be gay

"the only thing that Proposition 8 is doing is protecting the definition of marriage"

if that was true it would be about banning divorce not gay marriage

  • be gay all u want...dont go about making the whole state learn about it...adam and eve not adam and steve

  • Adam and Eve were both WHITE but we allow interracial marriage!

  • ok honestly you can't even compare interracial marriage with gay marriage. The only thing that sets apart two races is the color of the skin, and a few facial features, that's it!! Getting married is like putting two magnets together, a positive and negative attract two each other, but if you try to put a positive with a positive, or vise versa, it won't work! you could force them together, but it will never be natural

  • its not about physical appearance. it's about fear of someone who is different than you. People feared/disapproved of blacks, they banned interracial marriage. People fear/dissaprove of gays, they ban gay marriage.

  • i think you're a bit mixed up...if two women or men wanted to be together, then it seems natural to them. and what are you talking about forcing them together? you're the one forcing them apart! also, your views on marriage seem rather sexist. and why does marriage have to be one man and one woman? that is NOT how it has always been, there have been lots of gays throughout history. people can decide for THEMSELVES what is natural for THEM.

  • Anyone against gay marriage or homosexuality in general fucking appall me. Not to mention half you self-righteous religious freaks would lose it if anyone tried to suppress your rights as a human being like this. Who cares if you don't think its right? You don't have to marry a member of your own gender so don't worry about it.

  • Amen

  • Prop 8 is defeated-Gays get married-Churches won't marry gays-Gays sue churches-Churches no longer perform ANY marriages.Affects ALL. Gays want to adopt-religious adoption agencies don't adopt to gay couples. Gays sue-Faith funded agencies no longer provide adoptions in CA. Expanding Dom Partnr legal definits to include benefits like marriage?I would support. You shouldn't change an institution like marriage to fit your needs. Yes on 8, and yes on a new bill to expand Dom Partnership rights.

  • That's quite a few insane conclusions there. Unfortunately things don't quite work that way. You shouldn't try to take away someone's basic rights to fit your religion. The USA is not supposed to be a religion based country. Also, contrary to what you seem to believe, you don't have to be married in a church to have a marriage license. How do you think athiests get married? Pretty simple, really. As far as adoption goes, there are alternatives to religious adoption agencies.

  • ahem, why would gays want to wed in a church that hates them? Gays would not go to religious adoption groups because they know they won't get a child from there. People don't wish to be domestic partners someday with someone. Because that is DIFFERENT than everybody else and YOU KNOW IT. THERE'S NO GETTING AROUND THE FACT THAT THAT IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO SINGLE GAYS OUT AND MAKE THEM FEEL DISCRIMINATED AGAINST AND DIFFERENT THAN THEIR PEERS. NICE GOING.

  • VOTE NO on PROP 8

Despite what Prop 8 supporters claim Prop 8 does in fact take away rights which include pension plan survivor benefits, no guaranteed leave when family member is ill, long-term care insurance, state veteran benefits, tax exemption of inheritance, exemption from testifying against spouse, tax exemption of assets between spouses and marriage. Please vote NO on prop 8.

  • thankyou, finally some of the No on 8 people are finding my video. i saw a Yes on 8 rally the other day, i shouted prejudice at them.lol.

  • The gay activists want to create a protected class. They don't want equality - they want elevated, special status. If they get what they want - the litigation already taking place will continue. YES on Prop 8 protects freedom to speech, religion and thought. If it's equality - Calif already provides all those rights. If it's a name to make them feel good about their unions - then let's take time and think clearly and not act rashly.

    VOTE YES on PROP 8

  • Geez Antony1985, if you actually dated women, which you don't (or better yet, they don't want to date you), you would not be so obsessed about homosexuality.

Besides, you live in Texas -- why are you inserting yourself into California elections?

  • Yes he does and did! I'm one of his ex girlfriends! And he's right homosexuality is wrong!

  • You know your ex-boyfriend is gay, right?

  • why is it wrong? answer this, then keep asking yourself why. Eventually you'll come to the conclusion that it is NOT wrong, you're just not used to it.

  • haha, he lives in Texas? Wow..yah seriously.

  • And he has a face that only a fake "ex-girlfriend" (aka beard) would love!

  • No, it's NOT equality. Yes on 8 means they will not be able to get married, when heterosexual couples still WILL. That obviously is NOT equality. Just because CA already provides those rights, to act like they don't deserve a FULL marriage is simply prejudice. They do NOT want an elevated special status. YOU do. Heterosexual homophobes want to be the ONLY ones allowed to marry, because they think they are better than gays, therefore can decide who they can marry. That is what I call superiority.

  • Marriage is not a "right" it's a definition.

There is no such thing as a "right" for one man, or a group of men, that is not possessed by ALL. This means there are no special "rights" unique to women or men, blacks or white, elderly or the young.

If Marriage were a "right" then an elderly man would have the "right" to marry a young child.

Marriage is a definition. It is a word that defines a union between a man and a woman. Prop 8 reinstates the definition of Marriag

  • Please, stop focusing more on a SENTENCE than actual people. Stop clinging onto the past and accept that times have changed.

  • The book the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire, identifies five major causes that contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire:

First, the breakdown of the family.

    Second, increased taxation.

Third, an insatiable craving for pleasure.

Fourth, an unsustainable buildup of armaments.

    Fifth, the decay of religion.

Stop number one. VOTE YES ON PROP 8!

    liberalism means no restraints...

whatever feels good or feels right then do it

    without caring about the consequences

  • antony,

    well researched!

  • yes antony, thank you for standing up for unequal rights!

  • you know what? At this moment, gay marriage IS allowed in California, and I don't see anybody dying yet! It's not like they're serial killers! They don't affect you! Single parented families are MUCH worse off. Gays' kids won't know the difference, since living in a same-sex parented environment is what they're used to.

  • 8!

Why vote YES on 8 you ask?

    1) 61% already voted yes and that vote was taken away

    2) Society has to set a moral line and this is that line

    3) We don't want this taught in school

    4) We don't want churches forced to wed gays or chance loosing their tax exempt status

    5) Only 3% of the population is gay and they already have all the rights of marred people.

    6) gay, bisexuals (i.e., anything for a good time) while tolerated is not acceptable behavior!

    That's the Why

  • 1) that was years ago, times have changed.

    2) please ask yourself why you consider gays immoral.

    3) Parents have to give their consent whether or not their kids can learn about it

    4) they will not be forced to wed gays. Why would gays want to wed in a church that hates them?

    5) In many states, not much of the population is black either, but we still wed them.

ALSO: Then why can't you just call it marriage? No difference! But more equal!

6)acceptable compared to what? what YOU'RE used to?

  • Gay couples can get civil unions which is essentially the same as marriage. Historical precedence says that a marriage is between a man and a woman, and I will not jepordize the sanctity of marriage.

Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!!!!

Vote YES on Prop 8 !!!

  • Marriage has been forever changing: Lea and Rachel with one man? Sounds like TWO women and ONE man. REGARDLESS OF YOUR RELIGIOUS VIEWS, YOU MAY NOT IMPOSE THEM ON OTHERS. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Not everybody is Christian, so you have NO right to force everybody to follow your religion! Keep those beliefs in church, not congress!

  • Sorry pal, I don't believe in God. So your religous argument holds no water with me. I just simply dissagree with gays getting married. I believe in the traditional marriage and think it should be kept as so.

  • but regardless of your opinions on marriage, it is still wrong to deprive people of a fundamental right simply because they choose to love people differently than you. it is WRONG, period. stop focusing on some invisible "definition of marriage." it's not about a sentence and tradition, it's about EQUAL RIGHTS.

  • But gay people already have all the "rights" that str8 people have under the law. Why is it that gay people have to get "married", and blow Traditional Marriage out of the water??

It's about saving traditional marriage for me which is why I will vote YES on Prop 8!!!!

  • Obama is against same sex marriage. Who are you voting for?

  • no he's not. i am voting for Obama. he calls prop 8 "divisive and wrong". quote.

  • Think again... "Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and Bill Richardson all said they favored civil unions, with the rights of marriage but without that label." Quote.

  • amen.....it's never fair

  • Let's get an amendment started so we can vote for or against straight marriage.

  • haha. i think that would simply be hysterical. in their faces.

  • I agree...we should start an amendment banning straight marriage. Maybe the CTA will give us another $1million! Keep up the good work!

  • wait i am confused...you are voting yes on 8, so why would you agree with me on this?

  • Most bigots were either molested or emotionally abused by their caretaker. Take the stone from your heart and grow there flesh aggain.

  • i'd so be for that

  • ?FOR proposition 8 (you want to ban gay marriage)?

  • I mean i'm against baning gay marriage.

  • oh okay! good XD

  • Keep church and state separate. VOTE NO ON PROP 8. Thanks for voting NO. This won't hurt anyone.

  • exactly.

  • These issues have ALL been addressed with SPECIFIC examples on how our rights are and will be squashed so that you can have SPECIAL rights. Please put the rights of the children ahead of your own perceived rights.

    see video

    A-jc4ujp9Ok

BTW, this is a pretty song!

  • LOOK IT UP i dare you. there is NOTHING in prop 8 that states children will be taught about gay marriage. were YOU taught about marriage in school? NO! I wasn't either! I wasn't taught about any marriage! why would they teach kids that?! and these are not my own "perceived" rights. these are rights that MANY people deserve and need. STOP PLAYING THE CHILDREN CARD. YOU PRETEND TO BE ALL NICE AND PROTECTING OF YOUR CHILDREN, AND OH, AREN'Y YOU A NICE, HAPPY FAMILY, WHEN REALLY, YOU ARE PREJUDICED!

  • "there is NOTHING in prop 8 that states children will be taught about gay marriage"

    FACT:

California Education Code (EC) 51933 specifies that school districts are not required to provide comprehensive sexual health education, but if they choose to do so, they shall comply with all of the requirements listed below.

"Instruction shall encourage communication between students and their

families and shall teach respect for marriage and committed relationships"

  • um, is the California Education Code the same as Proposition 8? I think not...may I just point out you are forgetting the part where parental consent is required. There is a part of that that mentions that parents shall be notified and given the option to choose if their kid can be taught this or not.

  • If you study the friends of court briefings, the court cases. Of the ACLU, The different LGBT groups,etc.. their position are very clear.

Do not mislead us. We know what is coming. Be honest. New ballot initiatives are coming so parents can protect their children.

We saw the devastation of the Unplanned Motherhood sex ed. It is a total disaster. America is declining and the world can see it.

  • Protect their children from what? Learning about something that they are going to learn about anyway? From learning to respect people that are different from them? People teach about different religion in schools, but there's not an uproar about that. And by the way, parents have to give consent for their kids to learn about this marriage thing. Look it up, it's in the education code. Hell yes America's declining, we're becoming more and more prejudice and less and less open minded.

  • so stop blaming your prejudice on your religion and children. this has nothing to do with them and stop turning gay marriage into something it is NOT. the CONSTITUTION states that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL therefore REGARDLESS of what your views on marriage are, you are ENTITLED to allow EVERYONE equal rights! and again, there is absolutely NOTHING in proposition 8 saying if it fails, children will be taught about gay marriage. that is a truth-stretch.
