I'm sorry I really do have respect for Mr. Hayes, but, please. Leave the updating to Grandmaster Hatsumi... He's already done a fantastic job at that. And from the instructor I know, Bujikan is VERY practical in the real world.....
Not a very honorable way of defending your style with comments such as " I will throw on a black mask, track you down and kill you and your whole family" or "your channel is retarded". You're doing a horrible job of defending your style, and making a laughing stock of the entire To Shin Do community. You should be ashamed.
The artist determines the usability of an art; restricting one's self to a single style is only a limitation. Every art has something of use that one can learn.
@Zhalfstriderj He was making a point, and his comment is 2 years old. You're a little late. Should be ashamed? lol you youtube martial arts grandmasters crack me up.
Let me say this: I have been practicing martial arts for over 24 years. I have black belts in Jujutsu, Aiki Jujutsu, Ninpo and Kenpo as well as having studied Judo, Kickboxing and Arnis / Kali. I have trained with Sensei Hays on multiple occasions and I can tell you that he is the real deal. His techniques are effective and genuine. I cannot say the same for the many ninpo and Bujin people that give him a bad name and make a mockery of their art, but I can assure you he is not among that crowd.
The techniques are all stolen from Ju Jitsu and renamed Ninpo Taijutsu, but BJK does them really badly! The flowery segmented unflowing LARPING techniques are taught really crappily! Compare a Jitsuka to a Bujinkanner in a real fight and you will see such an enormous difference. They award themselves 15 dans show off all over youtube, make shitty videos which they sell and they aren't even the level of one of our green belts in terms of style technique or self defense abiltiy!!
@Bass76543210 wow because you say it it must be true wow you or so amazing calling heys a bitch so what martial art did you create? i would love to train in it........ making sad comments on youtube you sir or living the life .....just kidding your a sad little kid
@ELkat not true.... There were many ninja clans; recorded and not recorded...Not all were assassins and not all had no code(s)...Even the ones that didnt (in your thinking) still had some form of code. People seem to completely dismiss/overlook the Nihonjin ninjas and there origins in Japan.
Have bought the "Strength Mountain DVD". The biggest shit i have ever bought. Half of the contents are bla bla bla bla. Yes, people sitting on table and do smaltalk with Hayes over the completly DVD. Absolutly worthless junk. The technics are older than dirt and good for kids and warmup. Every second are wasted time. For me, this is cheating on the buyer. In the video above you can see at least an arm bar. This will you see on the DVD perhaps 3 times between the bla bla bla...
We live in a physical world and are governed much more by things that can affect us physically than by psychological brow-beating. Do the art justice by living it rather than debating it.
Well I guess if all your used to eating is MacDonald's then you wouldn't know that there is a more healthier and better tasting food options out there. The same applies to martial arts. The fact that Hayes was kicked out of the Bujinkan by Hatsumi and Hayes parades himself as someone to be highly esteemed pretty much is pissing on a beautiful sacred art, in my eye's. You are welcome to continue eating Macdonald's if you like, but I choose to venture further with my cuisine.
@Frankykarot1982 amen to that! I hate that To Shin D'oh people think they are learning a street worthy system. It does have good theories here and there but overall, this shit will get you killed.
If you want to live up to the founders' vision, you need to take in acount that humans are treacherous, they just might me good, and they just might have a hidden weapon.
I see multiple places where the Uke coulda spill his guts on the floor cause he has no first clue on how to move.
@michaelsama28 i think your just pissy because to shin do is better than wot you study if you study anything so you have to go on the internet and make stuped comments i would expeced from a 9 year old grow up
@superpigforlife I do train, have trained for years and can tell you that this "art" is just a fabrication of make believe. yes, some techniques are pretty good as they are just off shoots of established systems of Jujutsu etc. Learning to fight from Hayes is like learning to rap from Stephen Hawking.
@michaelsama28 i know people who have used this in a fight and won so no offenve but your opinion means nothing to me because you have not done this martial art so no mattar how much youtube vids you watch about it you will never know how much potentiol it has and think about it this is the stuff they show to anybody imagen the stuff only students can see and learn
@superpigforlife First of all, I have trained in this art and have worked with black belts from second degree and higher. Again, good theories here and there but overall, too much larping and straw man technique. Regarding your posts, try using periods and comma's. I feel like I am talking to a third grader.
@michaelsama28 why would i bother waseting my time with comma's on you tube and how is it larping its got no big kicks you will never use and you can do this in any type of clothing so you can use it no matter what your doing
@superpigforlife Glad you think so. If you want to be taken seriously and wish to validate your opinions, PUNCTUATION will go a long way. Now go eat your popsicle, its almost nap time.
@michaelsama28 whats the matter can't get your point across so you make attaks. plus im 14 your page says your 32 for a 32 year old your on the computer alot shouldent you have kids or a job or somthing?
@superpigforlife Teach MA for a living. Given your youth and general immaturity, any point I make will be lost on you. Come back in ten or twelve years. Ciao.
@michaelsama28 your calling me immutar you watch vids on k heys just to make bad comments about him with i think is just sad.and for a ma teacher i would think you would have a bit more to do with your
Are you serious? Conditiong, that's a good one. well lets see most fights last about 3min.s if the fighter know's what they are doing. and all the conditioning in the world cant stop your bones from breaking. We train for combat not competition. most hold rank in other systems.
Bruce Lee reinvented a martial art. The core concepts of JKD are derived from Wing Chun. So why does Hayes cop so much grief over this? I think it is essential that MA's get updated for modern attackers, when have you seen someone punch traditionally in a street fight?
I'm greatful for anyone who has devoted their lives to this art from my Sensei, to Hayes, Hatsumi, right back to the people that died on the battlefield and in training to improve, and prove that these techniques are effective.
Two major points here, One Bruce Lee was an Martial artist who happend to be an actor- he did not reinvent martial arts- he actually may be responsible for destroying it. as for Hayes, well I think anyone who moves away to do thier own thang catches hell, he's no different
I tried to hit Stephen Hayes in the head with the butt of a sword once...I ended up on my neck about 15 feet away. It was awesome...Nothing but total respect for this man
what was his connection to Hatsumi because unless someone who taught him from that eighty year old grand master it is not real ninjutsu. chances are he is connected because that man is old as fuck and is awsome as fuck.
Stephan hayes was a personal student of Shoto tanemura, a student and cousin of Hatsumi Soke, student has trained personally with Both Hatsumi Soke and Tanemura sensei. he created Toshindo as his "method".
Hayes could disable your weak ass in no time. You are just an internet junkie who hides your identity (age, place, job, etc..) because you are a L-O-S-E-R.
it DOES work in real life, I swear to god, if you mention larper, or the word ninjer one more time I will throw on a black mask, track you down and kill you and your whole family, quit brining up the same fucking worthless opinion and say something else, because all you've said is "blah blah blah, this is fake because I said so blah blah fucking blah"
Thes the same stupid opinion you keep talking about. I've personally seen people who teach incredible techniques from ninjutsu, so you can't sit there and be so ignorant to say it does not work because I've seen it work. So quit talking about larping like some pissed off teenager and get the fuck over yourself. Every single person is different, not everything will work for everyone, but nothing is useless, but what should I suspect from someone so ignorant like yourself?
I don't understand why some people have such a big problem with ninjutsu, even if they can't trace the roots back properly to who started it or why. For people who like to training with every martial art, you'll find some techniques very helpful at the least when it comes to ninjutsu or ninpo. stephen hayes and Hatsumi have acomplished a lot in their lives and run their own gyms, what the hell have any of you done worth mentioning, especially you "ninjerbuster" what a prick
Togakure ryu and for that matter all the Ninjutsu and japanese kobujutsu arts taught under the Bujinkan have complete Lineage charts tracing thier roots back to the begining.
Why is it so hard to believe that ninjutsu is useful, it teaches a style of combat, it teaches a hell of a lot, you can't sit there and say that it is entirely useless, that is just completely ignorant, but what else could we expect from some kid running around youtube with the name "ninjerbuster" I personally think it's great, who cares where it came from I care about how well it works, and it is in fact quite effective.
i just love how all these boxers and mma people are saying ninjitsu is for retards and that hayes is a total fraud. i bet you he would beat your guy's sorry asses. i dare you to tell him "ninjitsu is for retards" right in his face. then you will know when to keep your mouth shut.
i love ninjitsu, its a part of me. i grew up with it when watching movies, seeing other people use ninjitsu. so to all you mma and boxing people i say this: keep your fucking mouth shut.
Yeah, like how people in school and stuff nowadays always think they're tough... You learn ninjutsu, or any martial art for that matter, and if they try to mess with you, they end up on their butts. I have a book written by Stephen K. Hayes: Ninjutsu: The Art of the Invisible Warrior... He explains all this stuff thoroughly and I'm surprised it can all be done in six seconds or even less...
why do you call yourself Shinobi Mystic? you must have been denied membership in a dojo or something? look I cant speak for everyone in the Bujinkan, or in toshin do nor would I want to. but I think you guys watch to many jean claude van dam movies- martial arts are not suppose to look like weight lifters. it's conter productive.
Hey you big boxers or stupid MMAs listen. I may be young but imagine, if you do a "3 piece combo" at him, and he catches your first strike and breaks or hurts your fist, will you have the chance to strike again? Don't be stupid.
Hard to grasp that people are going on about ninpo/To-Shin Do vs MMA and actually expecting to be taken seriously. Need it be stated that one is a composite of methods of overcoming adversity and a way of life, whereas the other is a sport, with the competitors secure in the knowledge that they're protected from ever having to actually DEAL with reality? An-Shu comes from a world where one prepares for the possibility of being jacked on the way to the octagon in the first place.
twisting a wrist? haha u think u could do that to a boxer or mma guy if he threw a 3 peice combo at you? just snatch his hand and twist his wrist... this shit is ridiculous
What kind of idiot do you have to be to assume that would be a proper application of a wristlock in the first place? It does sound ridiculous if you're dumb enough to think that's how it would work. Good job stating the obvious.
Let me get this straight, Steve...the less authentic the style is, the purer it becomes? So, more dirt in a glass of water makes for less mud? Interesting.
chances are you're not going to be attacked by a samurai (probably...who knows?)
ninjutsu is about survival in realistic circumstances so updating it might make it more realistic therefore staying true to the original point of the martial art which is survival and self defense
I have to agree. One of the main problems many traditional arts have faced in recent years is that their long time training which typically predicates on being against an opponent trained in the same style as you fails when it hits up against radically different structures. That isn't universal but close enough to make it something to keep in mind. A friend of mine have long noticed that it is less a question of the techniques than their delivery platform.
I agree completely. I think that's why karate has grown to be not-so-formidable because its taught as a sport, and only against karate. In bujinkan, We mostly do techniques against a lunging punch, but this is because it amplifies the effect of the technique, so you can feel how it works and get the connection with your opponents balance right. The techniques in bujinkan work in most situations, but its adaptation that makes a good fighter.
I've trained and/or followed martial arts for nearly 30 years and I've always felt like Steven K. Hayes was a bit of a poser. Hats off to someone for finding a slick little niche and turning it into a business, but I'm not convinced that his prime concern is maintaining the history of any art. His background does not contain any of the prerequisites one would expect from someone so old. Where and how has he ever validated his skills? I consider him on the same level as Carradine.
Haha no, its because when training in the Bujinkan when you move up through your Kyu's Hatsumi paints you a certificate personalized to you, and Steven Hayes when he trained people just made copies of the certificates he earned. Greedily he did it to keep more of the money cause if not he would have to send money off to Hatsumi, so by him cutting out Hatsumi, he keeps all the money.
so, I'd just like to say that I posted this video because I find Hayes to have a very good and western-understandable view on Ninjutsu. it's too bad that so many people find such a small video to be the point of endless argument.
Michael, I understand and appreciate your intent. I agree that Hayes may have a good book-type understanding of the history and lineage of at least one strain of the art; and thankfully he avoids the "magical" aspects. The negativity you are gathering is just some well deserved "bullshit" calls on some of the pageantry and drive-up window treatment that Hayes has created.
there is no 1 generation let alone 34 generation. bodhidharma like a wild scavenging dog smelt blood and followed his nose to china because that was where the opening in the void element was. so now you have the husk of fancy moves. "meh."
these are all by products of a bodhisattva wandering towards maximization of saving souls. the traditions while respectable, are vain
and now i sound like vain ol' confucius, goin' vanity, hate, and jealousy are the fulcrums of buddha-machines
His views about him will never change. The very fact that he shows such hostillity and anger towards Hayes and the Art of Ninjitsu really only shows how unknowledgable and how childish his remarks are, you can't even post without swearing for example. I really do hope for your own sake you find a way to work out your anger issues try meditation perhaps it will help.
Thanks...yeah it's a bit discouraging at times to think some are so closeminded. I don't agree with everything I here, but I at least try to post a point with tact. Again I appreciate your understanding. :)
Scott you gave it a valliant effort my hat goes off to you, but trying to persuade someones mind who's so set in stone and can't possibly see outside of the tiny little box they live in will never understand what your trying to explain. Short of Michelle meeting Stephen personally and actually expierencing what he really can do and what he knows.
I would LOVE to meet Hayes in person and experience "what he really can do". I would pay money to do that. Hayes, however, would never, and will never, fight anyone, anywhere, at anytime. This is because Hayes knows he would be bitch slapped into next year. He is pathetic as a "martial artist"; what a fucking joke. You losers need to grow the fuck up.
you know blind you really are blind!!!! you must be some kind of billy badass!!!! yopu hayes was around when the ninja boom went off in the early eightys.... i dont have first hand knowledge but i am sure some of the crazy asses that we going to his seminars challenged him!! i do knowe of a time where this guy had a long chain with a weight at the end said no one could get near him... hayes looked and then stuck his finger so the chain wrapped around it and the chain hit the guy in the head~~~
yea cause im sure you can determine that he is a pathetic martial artist from a 47 second video cant you. fuck off and go do something productive with your life. oh and "you loosers need to grow up"? how about you remove the log in your own eye before you try and remove the speck of dust from someone elses.
I have never seen anyone who is worse at formulating arguements then you. i dont think iv ever read a comment of your that offers anytype of argument. all you do is talk shit. and when someone replies to your shit talking with an agrument, all you do is talk more shit. which leads me to believe that you are incapable of formulating any sort of arguement, in other words your a dumbass.
so unless ur gonna prove me wrong about you by replying to this with some sort of arguement as to how your not an idiot, then dont bother, cause all you would do is prove me right.
Another ninja LARPer stands up and makes himself known for the jackass he is. The fact that you cannot immediately discern from this video alone that Hayes is entirely full of shit and sucks hard as a martial artist only proves your credulity, stupidity, and gullable nature. Go back to watching your ninja cartoons in your mammy's basement you lunatic.
gulibility and lack of evidence have nothing to do with each other. if anything it would indicate the lack of a discerning eye. basically what you are doing by judgeing hayes based on the limited scope of this video is judging a book by its cover.
by the way i appreciate that you replied to my comments with somthing of an argument. with a little less insult and a little more arguement like that and you might actually sway peoples opinions. im not saying i agree u. im saying good start. and by the way, i hate ninja cartoons. i garentee that you couldn't show me a ninja cartoon that looks like the stuff practiced in the bujinkan.
all you have achieved in calling me stupid and gulible gullable has done is show others how bias u are. if you want to establish credibility as a writer u have to be able to look at it from both sides. thats assuming your posts are for the purpose of informing people and not just insulting them.
No, YOU need to grow up. You don't "fight anyone, anytime". You are just a penis who should NEVER be allowed into any martial arts training facility, let alone be taught anyhting on the subject. Oh, and by the way, he could probably kill you if he wanted.
Another credulous, moronic LARPing fag makes himself known. What is in question here is Hayes' credibility you fuckstick, not mine. Someone who claims to be a "master" of various fighting systems should have some fucking history to back up that claim. Hayes has none you fucktard, none; nor does hatsumi, the oriental fraud. You are a witless cunt without a clue The only thing impressive about this choad hayes is how badly he sucks.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You dumb, dumb shit; you still don't get it? Your family tree must look like a totem pole. It's hayes' credibility that is in question loser; it is hayes who has put himself out to the public, hayes who claims to be a fighting master, hayes who claims to be a ninja, hayes who claims he has an amazing and effective system of fighting, it is therefore hayes who must prove himself you mental deficient. And it is hayes who has not done so because he is a fraud dipshit.
The burden is on you, not me. I am not the one calling him a fraud. He does not owe you or me shit. Your channel is retarded by the way (just like you).
"Targetguy". That must be where you work for minimum wage; you got that job because they needed to hire retards. The proof is in front of your nose moron. 1) No fighting record ever of any kind, ever; 2) In his videos, he looks ungainly, uncoordinated, slow, confused, lumbering, etc when "demoing" his partial art; 3) he claims to have been taught by "authentic" ninja masters when, in fact, no such thing exists. He's a fraud; pure and simple, which again makes you a creduloid moron.
"I have to update it in order for it to be pure." So something which is different is precisely the same as the thing from which is is derived. That's a contradiction folks. Maybe I missed something but from a Shidoshi, one expects precision.
Ninjutsu was an art that was used for survival. Whether it was WORKING as a bodyguard or assassin, or just DEFENDING your local village, but it constantly changed to handle the problems and weapons and opponents of the time. This is the natural evolution of all living arts. How does this make it pure. Nin=endure jutsu=art. The only way for an art to endure the test of time and/or for its students to be able to apply it for their survival is if it takes into account the modern threats.
@scotttealey You nailed it!! :) but you did forgot to mention 2 things; in contrast with other martial arts, Ninja don't have codes of honor, that's what made them ideal to be hired as an assasin, spy or bodyguard..
when you mix that with their magnificent & silent way of working.. 2ND thing; Ninjutsu means actually ''the art of hiding'' because of its specifically being abel to blend in, that's what made them so good.. some ninja even went temporarily true life as samurai to spy..
well why not find one and challenge him like in the old days buddy since you think we cant back up what we preach.we have alot of forms we can use but of course we would end up killing our opponent in alot of them but its a tried and true form of combat you just dont know it.quit reading comic books and do some real research like trying a ninjitsu master with your style best to say you will loose
there are alot of things in the art that wasnt taught but to the common student but to close students of grand master hatsumi, master manaka was one of those people but most had big ego problems and as for the guy who says ninjistu is bullshit try the grandmaster out and see what its like i know even in his eighties he could go through you like a hot knife through butter
... Thats just the thing, he hasn't gone through anyone. None of them have. And there are no vids of any of them sparring, I doubt they even do it properly if at all. Just a bunch of retards. Not Ninja. I feel sad for you deluded people.
Hayes is pure bullshit. What he says makes me laugh. His videos are only entertaining to fools. He is just talk and no substance. Ninjitsu is garbage.
Ninjitsu may be garbage, but Ninjutsu is not. First, learn to spell what your insulting so you don't insult your limited intellectual capacities in the process, then, go train with a To-Shin Do practitioner and find out exactly why Ninjutsu is the polar opposite of what you, currently uninformed, believe it to be.
i understand from a student of grand master hatsumi that master hayes and grand master had a parting of the ways due to master hayes teaching deluted style
Probably, but heres the issue. You can teach an archaic tradition which serves no one any better than a history lesson or you can adjust things to address modern attack scenarios as Hayes does and loose a little historical significance but keep it useful, or entirely revamp the system and have a new ninja style completely. I'm more a utilitarian than a history buff, but what you go with is up to you.
That doesn't make much sense. Once a person learns something and becomes something you can't take it away because they don't do it exactly your way. It's known that Hatsumi-sensei and Tanemura-sensei had disagreements on art deluting too. Being ninja is a way of life, and you can't take a way of life away from a person with words or with placards. An-Shu may not be Bujinkan, but he's sure as hell ninja, and there's nothing anyone can do to take 'that' away, my friend.
A 'way of life'... They in no way resemble the ancient Ninja, you understand that, dont you? What exactley do you mean by Ninja? Fat white man ready to defend against a street thug? Or super assasin ready to storm a heavily fortified position? I just think we have different ideas of what Ninjutsu is, and you seem to believe self defence is Ninja. These people are crazy. Take a real good look, do they honestly strike you as REAL Ninja??? I once thought they did, when I was 14 and knew nothing...
But how does Stephen K. Hayes qualify? Well consider what the prestigious World Sokeship Council says about his history:
In 1985, he was elected to the prestigious Black Belt Hall of Fame, for his years of pioneering work introducing the Japanese ninja martial arts to the Western world.
In 1993, Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi of Chiba-ken, Japan, awarded him the extremely rare honor of ju-dan 10th degree Black Belt in the nine historical traditions of the Bujinkan Dojo martial arts. Cont'd below
As far as what his job entailed, perhaps you've heard of the infamous Hattori Hanzo, Revered Protector of the Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu? A ninja was not 'just' an assassin. Many ninja (specifically those who worked for the Tokugawa dynasty) were protectors. So was An-Shu Stephen K. Hayes:
"In the 1990s, he regularly served as personal protection escort and security advisor for 1989 Nobel Peace Prize winner the Dalai Lama of Tibet." Cont'd below
He's also received assassin type training BEFORE the existence of the Bujinkan, itself! His first two "dan" ranks were exclusively in 'Togakure ryu Ninjutsu,' not Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. He's also trained with 'modern day' warriors of subterfuge:
"Stephen K. Hayes has demonstrated effective self-protection skills to military and law-enforcement groups including the U.S. Air Force Academy, the FBI Academy, the American Society for Law Enforcement Training, and members of Britain's elite SAS."
All that said, I'm not sure about your definition, but as far as the true essence of ninja goes: A protector, a common citizen, and a practitioner of the ninja spiritual and physical traditions, Hayes meets them all. He's part of a Yamabushi (predecessors of the ninja themselves) priesthood! I mean, how more NINJA can you get? :)
1st; the hall of fame is made up by a close circle of friends, all the members are of this circle. It is bullshit.
2nd; escort the Lama, Hayes has spent time in Tibet and is now making his own 'religion', the idiot. Lama prob knows no other fighters but Hayes. This is not big...
3rd; Hatsumis scrolls are not verified, he allows others to veiw them, but not authenticate. There is no proof of his master existing. There is nothing.
4th; everything that Hayes got from Hatsumi was paid for.
Also, your wrong about the scrolls, but even IF the scrolls were not authenticated, ninja were the lowest caste of society, so authenticity wasn't their primary concern.
That said, how could the SAS and such be the ONLY true ninja? NINJA WERE THE LOWEST CASTE. Master Shimabukuro of the famed Eishin ryu Samurai Swordsmanship said that the ninja were ranked somewhere under the dog...suffice to say, ninja could be of any caste, but they were not exclusive to any one particularly...so, your wrong
Also, if you knew anything about the Dalai Lama, you would know Hayes is part of a high brotherhood within their order, and the Dalai Lama is his personal teacher, though not exclusively, because the DL is a very sought after individual.
Then what 'Hall of Fame' is it this time? Maybe you are right, I have seen so many I get confused. Let me ask, does it contain any profesional fighting athletes, or all just movie stars and businesmen?
And yes, that is what I meant, Hayes spends a lot of time in Tibet. Have you read about his Order of the Blue Lotus? He thinks he is knowledgeable enough to add to Buddhas words. True delusion.
Hayes has never trained a day of realism in his life. If he came to my Muay Thai gym he would die.
Actually you would die. You would go to kick his leg and find yourself blinded with mitsubishi and a knife in your gut. Ninjutsu isn't a 1v1 sport. Why are there so many of you morons out there thinking that it is?
I am not knocking the style, I am knocking Hayes retard training methods. Most 'Ninja' dojos these days dont spar, and practice their techniques against unrealistic attacks, so does Hayes and Hatsumi. The main part of fighting is the ability to constantly assess a changing situation. This is honed in sparring, and why people spar. Simply, if you dont your reflexes are too slow. I could break Hayes nose before he even saw me move. It is poor training, and useless. They need to train realism...
You are delusional dear, and you need help. serious help. Your martial arts instructor was unwise to teach you, because your attitude will get you killed one day. You're not that tough, and there's always tougher. Your underestimating the potential of To-Shin Do practitioners make you all too easy of a self liability. Who told you To-Shin Do student's didn't spar. Ground fighting training, striking, and grappling are tested under pressure. Type in NC Quest Center above and see for yourself.
There are rules in MA tournaments because the athletes kept dieing. I do Muay Thai, the tournaments were often to the death before, but have changed now so athletes can develop a career, instead of just enough to pay for a coffin. Any ring fighter who can not instantly adapt his skills to include groin strikes and throat strikes, eye gouges, so on, they would not be good enough to be pro anyway. These are simple things you are talking about.
Again, don't judge so harshly w/o experiencing it. We recognize everyone won't fight like a prize fighting boxer, or a kick-boxing champ, and everyone won't grapple like a BJJ, Judo, or Wrestler. Also we realize that these skill MAist don't usually go around starting fights on the street. Would you? I wouldn't. So why focus primarily on fighting them when the unpredictable, sloppy, overextended, unbalanced, and yet strong and lethal are the types of predators that plague society today?
Look at "Street Wise Self Defense ( To Shin Do)" if you have a chance and the inclination and understand that while we don't think every fighter or even a skilled fighter fights this way, most skilled fighters are professionals and would lose endorsements and their jobs if they engage in random acts of violence as frequently as drunkards, rapists, and molesters do.
You should read up on Richard Van Donk. Look at his site, find it on Google. He is starting his own religion too! They are both pussies, dude. Dont idolize them.
Yes, I'm VERY familiar w/ Van Donk. I studied with them before I discovered Mr. Hayes. As I said, I don't practice either of their beliefs, because I'm not Buddhist and don't have any concern for the preservation or elimination of said way of life. It's not my path to perfection...
Well, if you say you train unlike what the rumours going around say you train like, then good for you, and I DO support it. If I was wrong, then fine. I dont really care. What my beef IS with, is Hayes. He really has only gotten so big because he sells everything. If it were not for his marketing skills he would not be big because his martial skills may or may not be good, depending on the view, but it is certain they ARE NOT ultimate. Do you know Richard Van Donk? He is slightly more crazy.
I won't deny An-Shu is a marketing genius, and I believe even taught it or was head of a business board at a local college, but here's the deal. He made material available for people who normally would not be able to be reached. Also, he made his goal of making his teacher (as Mr. Hayes put it) a "god among his students, and a rich one." Do you blame Bill Gates, Oprah, Bush (well, I do blame Bush) for their successes? Why not make a living doing what you like and help others in the process.
NC Quest Center. I can honestly say that is the kind of training you need, yes. Althoug Quest is typically fagotry... This is the first time I have seen anyone affiliated with Hayes or Hatsumi training realism. Most the time it is slow-mo moves against unrealistic attacks done in a drill with no random which makes for no reflex training or anything. But to the point, have you seen Hatsumi or Hayes train like this? I have watched a lot, and never have.
Honestly, you need to go into a Quest Center to see their training. You watch technique demonstrations, not the actual hardcore training that we do. The heavy sweat, sore necks from collar chokes, sore ribs from a un-countered punch, are all results of our training. Don't be fooled, To-Shin Do is a complete martial art that focuses on REAL attacks. Some example of things I've learned to defend against in my next post.
I've studied ninjutsu history far before I ever studied the art, and it's different than what you think. Our arts are of direct lineage of many famous ninja grandmasters, like Momochi Sandayu, teacher of famed Hattori Hanzo and Goemon Ishikawa, Failed Assassin of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. This grandmaster created Koto ryu. Koto ryu's principles and modified techniques are included in the very small clip you watched. You've GOT to see it in action. Military and police train in To-Shin Do for a reason.
Okay, return my favor, I watched your vid and gave you credit, now type in 'ninjas suck bullshido' and watch just the first part of that clp with Hayes in it and then tell me again you honestly think this man resembles the savage fuedal Ninja...
The Black Belt Hall of Fame is the most prestigious MA group in the world. All the stars that so happen to be in it earned their place by originally being either competitors or pioneers of the MA to different nations.
Hayes is also a personal friend of Ken Shamrock, and has trained w/ many other martial artist and stylists. Also, To-Shin Do practitioner come from all sorts of various MA backgrounds. Me, Judo, Siu Lim Tao-Wing Chun, and Shotokan, and a close friend of mine BJJ, and Judo.
Hall of Fame full of people who dont fight and movie stars. For fucks sake, the real hall of fame are the K-1, UFC and Boxing champions. War heros and the like. Not fraud idiots and popular television guys. So, in regards to my original question, do any of these 'fighters' actually fight? Or do they just pretend to be Warriors?
Do they fight in the ring w/ restricting rules, a referee to save your arse, and true street proven techniques like: eye gauging, skin tearing by tooth and nail, groin striking, throat punching, and neck popping? Some of them have in the past, but they most likely prefer the afore techniques now they're not 'sparring/competiting' in the ring. UFC, K-1, and boxing are sports, not battle. If you can't see the difference, then you should practice something a little safer...like knitting. No offense.
Oh, and secondly, I'm not Buddhist, so it really doesn't concern me who adds what to whatever. But from my understanding of Buddhism, there are many different sects and Buddhist is the search for enlightenment w/o God, but through the understanding of the universal scheme of totality, and the human potential. While I personally don't agree w/ this philosophy, I do understand that Buddha wasn't a god himself, but a philosopher who encouraged others to become their own Buddha.
The prestigious hall of fame? what a joke. It's so "prestigious" that it doesn't even have a website. Ninjitsu isn't even a real martial art. It's just crap that doesn't work but looks cool in old movies.
Scott, you should give this a closer look. Dont make yourself an idiot. The Ninja of today are SAS comandos. Governments spies. Navy SEALs. People like this. Hatsumi is a business man selling everything he knows, most of which is not really impressive anyway. Even if he was not an old man he would not hold up in a UFC ring, for example. The role of the Ninja has changed, Japan now has Special Forces units, modern Ninja. Or mercenaries. Have you seen Rambo 4? Modern Ninja. Not these clowns.
From your uninformed response about everything I deducted that educating you would be an exercise in futility. BB hall of fame, what do you know about it? So Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Fumio Demura, Jackie Chan, Ip Chun, all these grandmasters (and they all are, because they study their own arts or mixture of arts) are close friends? Incorrect. Also, everyone pays for MA Classes, so don't try to run that game.
What a bunch of garbage. The "students" (aka suckers) are just doing as they are expected to do... not resist and make it look good. They may actually believe this bullshit is real. It's totally bogus and only morons would think it's legit.
MMA ruled by BBJ fighters. BJJ originated with Maeda's Judo. Maeda's Judo originated w/ Judo's founder Kano, who studied Yoshin ryu under a more samurai lineage. One of the Yoshin ryu lines traces to our Ninpo which trinkles down to our art. To call street oriented MMA bull**** is bull****. Some of these very same tactics and techniques are taught in other similar MA such as Krav Maga, Kapap, Pankration. This is combat not sport.
Can you actually get a person in a small joint lock as they are punching, kicking, and elbowing you in the face/body. The answer is doubtful. This is a traditional art, however NOT practical for a "Real" fight. The end.
I attended 3 seminars with Hayes in the late 1990's and after the third one, he invited me to attend a 2 week course so I could be an instructor! I asked "After the 2 weeks I would be an instructor?" He stated "yes". Needless to say I got out of there as quick as possible. Man is a money grubbing fraud.

I cannot say the same for the many ninpo and Bujin people that give him a bad name and make a mockery of their art, but I can assure you he is not among that crowd.
kenjutai 1 year ago
The techniques are all stolen from Ju Jitsu and renamed Ninpo Taijutsu, but BJK does them really badly! The flowery segmented unflowing LARPING techniques are taught really crappily! Compare a Jitsuka to a Bujinkanner in a real fight and you will see such an enormous difference. They award themselves 15 dans show off all over youtube, make shitty videos which they sell and they aren't even the level of one of our green belts in terms of style technique or self defense abiltiy!!

@superpigforlife I do train, have trained for years and can tell you that this "art" is just a fabrication of make believe. yes, some techniques are pretty good as they are just off shoots of established systems of Jujutsu etc. Learning to fight from Hayes is like learning to rap from Stephen Hawking.
michaelsama28 1 year ago
@michaelsama28 i know people who have used this in a fight and won so no offenve but your opinion means nothing to me because you have not done this martial art so no mattar how much youtube vids you watch about it you will never know how much potentiol it has and think about it this is the stuff they show to anybody imagen the stuff only students can see and learn
superpigforlife 1 year ago
@superpigforlife First of all, I have trained in this art and have worked with black belts from second degree and higher. 7NEMISIS 2 years ago
HaydenMorison 2 years ago 2
Two major points here, One Bruce Lee was an Martial artist who happend to be an actor- he did not reinvent martial arts- he actually may be responsible for destroying it. as for Hayes, well I think anyone who moves away to do thier own thang catches hell, he's no different

christlicker 1 year ago
Thes the same stupid opinion you keep talking about. I've personally seen people who teach incredible techniques from ninjutsu, so you can't sit there and be so ignorant to say it does not work because I've seen it work. So quit talking about larping like some pissed off teenager and get the fuck over yourself. Every single person is different, not everything will work for everyone, but nothing is useless, but what should I suspect from someone so ignorant like yourself?
AntiHero12109 2 years ago 6
I don't understand why some people have such a big problem with ninjutsu, even if they can't trace the roots back properly to who started it or why. For people who like to training with every martial art, you'll find some techniques very helpful at the least when it comes to ninjutsu or ninpo. stephen hayes and Hatsumi have acomplished a lot in their lives and run their own gyms, what the hell have any of you done worth mentioning, especially you "ninjerbuster" what a prick
AntiHero12109 2 years ago 2
Togakure ryu and for that matter all the Ninjutsu and japanese kobujutsu arts taught under the Bujinkan have complete Lineage charts tracing thier roots back to the begining.
7NEMISIS 2 years ago
Why is it so hard to believe that ninjutsu is useful, it teaches a style of combat, it teaches a hell of a lot, you can't sit there and say that it is entirely useless, that is just completely ignorant, but what else could we expect from some kid running around youtube with the name "ninjerbuster" I personally think it's great, who cares where it came from I care about how well it works, and it is in fact quite effective.

Yeah, like how people in school and stuff nowadays always think they're tough... You learn ninjutsu, or any martial art for that matter, and if they try to mess with you, they end up on their butts. An-Shu comes from a world where one prepares for the possibility of being jacked on the way to the octagon in the first place.

scsmit1 3 years ago 2
no
chances are you're not going to be attacked by a samurai (probably...who knows?)
ninjutsu is about survival in realistic circumstances so updating it might make it more realistic therefore staying true to the original point of the martial art which is survival and self defense
Obiwankenobistarfish 3 years ago 2
I have to agree. One of the main problems many traditional arts have faced in recent years is that their long time training which typically predicates on being against an opponent trained in the same style as you fails when it hits up against radically different structures. That isn't universal but close enough to make it something to keep in mind. A friend of mine have long noticed that it is less a question of the techniques than their delivery platform.
Godsmasher22 2 years ago
I agree completely. I think that's why karate has grown to be not-so-formidable because its taught as a sport, and only against karate. In bujinkan, We mostly do techniques against a lunging punch, but this is because it amplifies the effect of the technique, so you can feel how it works and get the connection with your opponents balance right. The techniques in bujinkan work in most situations, but its adaptation that makes a good fighter.
Obiwankenobistarfish 2 years ago
I've trained and/or followed martial arts for nearly 30 years and I've always felt like Steven K. Hayes was a bit of a poser. Hats off to someone for finding a slick little niche and turning it into a business, but I'm not convinced that his prime concern is maintaining the history of any art. His background does not contain any of the prerequisites one would expect from someone so old. Where and how has he ever validated his skills? I consider him on the same level as Carradine.
scsmit1 3 years ago 2
Personal protection of celebrities doesn't count?

It is not well known, but Stephen Hayes was banished from the Bujinkan for inapropriate touching of the little ninjas.
This is a FACT.
I have to speak up because I am sick of all the lies.
guerillajack 3 years ago
Haha no, its because when training in the Bujinkan when you move up through your Kyu's Hatsumi paints you a certificate personalized to you, and Steven Hayes when he trained people just made copies of the certificates he earned. Greedily he did it to keep more of the money cause if not he would have to send money off to Hatsumi, so by him cutting out Hatsumi, he keeps all the money.

michaelbarnes1234 3 years ago 6
Michael, I understand and appreciate your intent. I agree that Hayes may have a good book-type understanding of the history and lineage of at least one strain of the art; and thankfully he avoids the "magical" aspects. The negativity you are gathering is just some well deserved "bullshit" calls on some of the pageantry and drive-up window treatment that Hayes has created.

Exactly
redgallon 3 years ago
@scotttealey You nailed it!! :) but you did forgot to mention 2 things; in contrast with other martial arts, Ninja don't have codes of honor, that's what made them ideal to be hired as an assasin, spy or bodyguard..
when you mix that with their magnificent & silent way of working.. 2ND thing; Ninjutsu means actually ''the art of hiding'' because of its specifically being abel to blend in, that's what made them so good.. some ninja even went temporarily true life as samurai to spy..
Elketjeable 1 year ago
@Elketjeable true. when considering it's kun'yomi form shinobi (one who sneaks in or one who steals away) that it does. :)
scotttealey 1 year ago
well why not find one and challenge him like in the old days buddy since you think we cant back up what we preach.we have alot of forms we can use but of course we would end up killing our opponent in alot of them but its a tried and true form of combat you just dont know it.quit reading comic books and do some real research like trying a ninjitsu master with your style best to say you will loose
nativeman65 3 years ago
there are alot of things in the art that wasnt taught but to the common student but to close students of grand master hatsumi, master manaka was one of those people but most had big ego problems and as for the guy who says ninjistu is bullshit try the grandmaster out and see what its like i know even in his eighties he could go through you like a hot knife through butter
nativeman65 3 years ago
... Thats just the thing, he hasn't gone through anyone. None of them have. And there are no vids of any of them sparring, I doubt they even do it properly if at all. Just a bunch of retards. Not Ninja. I feel sad for you deluded people.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Hayes is pure bullshit. What he says makes me laugh. His videos are only entertaining to fools. He is just talk and no substance. Ninjitsu is garbage.
jeffhanson1965 3 years ago
Yeah your vids are so much better. Oh wait you have none. Get off the couch, potato.
WaiteDavid137 3 years ago 2
Ninjitsu may be garbage, but Ninjutsu is not. First, learn to spell what your insulting so you don't insult your limited intellectual capacities in the process, then, go train with a To-Shin Do practitioner and find out exactly why Ninjutsu is the polar opposite of what you, currently uninformed, believe it to be.
scotttealey 3 years ago
Hayes is a fraud. Ninjitsu is bullshit. It was nothing more than a movie fad in the early 80's and it doesn't work in real life.
jeffhanson1965 3 years ago
i understand from a student of grand master hatsumi that master hayes and grand master had a parting of the ways due to master hayes teaching deluted style
nativeman65 3 years ago
Probably, but heres the issue. You can teach an archaic tradition which serves no one any better than a history lesson or you can adjust things to address modern attack scenarios as Hayes does and loose a little historical significance but keep it useful, or entirely revamp the system and have a new ninja style completely. I'm more a utilitarian than a history buff, but what you go with is up to you.
WaiteDavid137 3 years ago
But Hayes is not a Ninja, so... He can not teach anything.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
That doesn't make much sense. Once a person learns something and becomes something you can't take it away because they don't do it exactly your way. It's known that Hatsumi-sensei and Tanemura-sensei had disagreements on art deluting too. Being ninja is a way of life, and you can't take a way of life away from a person with words or with placards. An-Shu may not be Bujinkan, but he's sure as hell ninja, and there's nothing anyone can do to take 'that' away, my friend.
scotttealey 3 years ago 3
A 'way of life'... They in no way resemble the ancient Ninja, you understand that, dont you? What exactley do you mean by Ninja? Fat white man ready to defend against a street thug? Or super assasin ready to storm a heavily fortified position? I just think we have different ideas of what Ninjutsu is, and you seem to believe self defence is Ninja. These people are crazy. Take a real good look, do they honestly strike you as REAL Ninja??? I once thought they did, when I was 14 and knew nothing...
michelleestigher 3 years ago
No, unfortunately your definition may be based off of Hollywood, instead of historical fact. Here's what Merriam-Webster defines ninja as:
"Main Entry: nin·ja
Pronunciation: \ˈnin-jə, -(ˌ)jä\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural ninja also ninjas
Etymology: Japanese, from nin- persevere, conceal, move stealthily + -ja person
Date: 1964
: a person trained in ancient Japanese martial arts and employed especially for espionage and assassinations" Continued Below
scotttealey 3 years ago
But how does Stephen K. Hayes qualify? Well consider what the prestigious World Sokeship Council says about his history:
In 1985, he was elected to the prestigious Black Belt Hall of Fame, for his years of pioneering work introducing the Japanese ninja martial arts to the Western world.
In 1993, Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi of Chiba-ken, Japan, awarded him the extremely rare honor of ju-dan 10th degree Black Belt in the nine historical traditions of the Bujinkan Dojo martial arts. Cont'd below
scotttealey 3 years ago
As far as what his job entailed, perhaps you've heard of the infamous Hattori Hanzo, Revered Protector of the Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu? A ninja was not 'just' an assassin. Many ninja (specifically those who worked for the Tokugawa dynasty) were protectors. So was An-Shu Stephen K. Hayes:
"In the 1990s, he regularly served as personal protection escort and security advisor for 1989 Nobel Peace Prize winner the Dalai Lama of Tibet." Cont'd below
scotttealey 3 years ago
He's also received assassin type training BEFORE the existence of the Bujinkan, itself! His first two "dan" ranks were exclusively in 'Togakure ryu Ninjutsu,' not Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. He's also trained with 'modern day' warriors of subterfuge:
"Stephen K. Hayes has demonstrated effective self-protection skills to military and law-enforcement groups including the U.S. Air Force Academy, the FBI Academy, the American Society for Law Enforcement Training, and members of Britain's elite SAS."
scotttealey 3 years ago
All that said, I'm not sure about your definition, but as far as the true essence of ninja goes: A protector, a common citizen, and a practitioner of the ninja spiritual and physical traditions, Hayes meets them all. He's part of a Yamabushi (predecessors of the ninja themselves) priesthood! I mean, how more NINJA can you get? :)
scotttealey 3 years ago
1st; the hall of fame is made up by a close circle of friends, all the members are of this circle. It is bullshit.
2nd; escort the Lama, Hayes has spent time in Tibet and is now making his own 'religion', the idiot. Lama prob knows no other fighters but Hayes. This is not big...
3rd; Hatsumis scrolls are not verified, he allows others to veiw them, but not authenticate. There is no proof of his master existing. There is nothing.
4th; everything that Hayes got from Hatsumi was paid for.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Also, your wrong about the scrolls, but even IF the scrolls were not authenticated, ninja were the lowest caste of society, so authenticity wasn't their primary concern.
That said, how could the SAS and such be the ONLY true ninja? NINJA WERE THE LOWEST CASTE. Master Shimabukuro of the famed Eishin ryu Samurai Swordsmanship said that the ninja were ranked somewhere under the dog...suffice to say, ninja could be of any caste, but they were not exclusive to any one particularly...so, your wrong
scotttealey 3 years ago
Also, if you knew anything about the Dalai Lama, you would know Hayes is part of a high brotherhood within their order, and the Dalai Lama is his personal teacher, though not exclusively, because the DL is a very sought after individual.
scotttealey 3 years ago
Then what 'Hall of Fame' is it this time? Maybe you are right, I have seen so many I get confused. Let me ask, does it contain any profesional fighting athletes, or all just movie stars and businesmen?
And yes, that is what I meant, Hayes spends a lot of time in Tibet. Have you read about his Order of the Blue Lotus? He thinks he is knowledgeable enough to add to Buddhas words. True delusion.
Hayes has never trained a day of realism in his life. If he came to my Muay Thai gym he would die.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Actually you would die. You would go to kick his leg and find yourself blinded with mitsubishi and a knife in your gut. Ninjutsu isn't a 1v1 sport. Why are there so many of you morons out there thinking that it is?
WaiteDavid137 3 years ago
I am not knocking the style, I am knocking Hayes retard training methods. Most 'Ninja' dojos these days dont spar, and practice their techniques against unrealistic attacks, so does Hayes and Hatsumi. The main part of fighting is the ability to constantly assess a changing situation. This is honed in sparring, and why people spar. Simply, if you dont your reflexes are too slow. I could break Hayes nose before he even saw me move. It is poor training, and useless. They need to train realism...
michelleestigher 3 years ago
You are delusional dear, and you need help. serious help. Your martial arts instructor was unwise to teach you, because your attitude will get you killed one day. You're not that tough, and there's always tougher. Your underestimating the potential of To-Shin Do practitioners make you all too easy of a self liability. Who told you To-Shin Do student's didn't spar. Ground fighting training, striking, and grappling are tested under pressure. Type in NC Quest Center above and see for yourself.
scotttealey 3 years ago
There are rules in MA tournaments because the athletes kept dieing. I do Muay Thai, the tournaments were often to the death before, but have changed now so athletes can develop a career, instead of just enough to pay for a coffin. Any ring fighter who can not instantly adapt his skills to include groin strikes and throat strikes, eye gouges, so on, they would not be good enough to be pro anyway. These are simple things you are talking about.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Again, don't judge so harshly w/o experiencing it. We recognize everyone won't fight like a prize fighting boxer, or a kick-boxing champ, and everyone won't grapple like a BJJ, Judo, or Wrestler. Also we realize that these skill MAist don't usually go around starting fights on the street. Would you? I wouldn't. So why focus primarily on fighting them when the unpredictable, sloppy, overextended, unbalanced, and yet strong and lethal are the types of predators that plague society today?
scotttealey 3 years ago 2
Look at "Street Wise Self Defense ( To Shin Do)" if you have a chance and the inclination and understand that while we don't think every fighter or even a skilled fighter fights this way, most skilled fighters are professionals and would lose endorsements and their jobs if they engage in random acts of violence as frequently as drunkards, rapists, and molesters do.
scotttealey 3 years ago
You should read up on Richard Van Donk. Look at his site, find it on Google. He is starting his own religion too! They are both pussies, dude. Dont idolize them.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Yes, I'm VERY familiar w/ Van Donk. I studied with them before I discovered Mr. Hayes. As I said, I don't practice either of their beliefs, because I'm not Buddhist and don't have any concern for the preservation or elimination of said way of life. It's not my path to perfection...
scotttealey 3 years ago 2
Well, if you say you train unlike what the rumours going around say you train like, then good for you, and I DO support it. If I was wrong, then fine. I dont really care. What my beef IS with, is Hayes. He really has only gotten so big because he sells everything. If it were not for his marketing skills he would not be big because his martial skills may or may not be good, depending on the view, but it is certain they ARE NOT ultimate. Do you know Richard Van Donk? He is slightly more crazy.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
I won't deny An-Shu is a marketing genius, and I believe even taught it or was head of a business board at a local college, but here's the deal. He made material available for people who normally would not be able to be reached. Also, he made his goal of making his teacher (as Mr. Hayes put it) a "god among his students, and a rich one." Do you blame Bill Gates, Oprah, Bush (well, I do blame Bush) for their successes? Why not make a living doing what you like and help others in the process.
scotttealey 3 years ago 2
NC Quest Center. I can honestly say that is the kind of training you need, yes. Althoug Quest is typically fagotry... This is the first time I have seen anyone affiliated with Hayes or Hatsumi training realism. Most the time it is slow-mo moves against unrealistic attacks done in a drill with no random which makes for no reflex training or anything. But to the point, have you seen Hatsumi or Hayes train like this? I have watched a lot, and never have.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Honestly, you need to go into a Quest Center to see their training. You watch technique demonstrations, not the actual hardcore training that we do. The heavy sweat, sore necks from collar chokes, sore ribs from a un-countered punch, are all results of our training. Don't be fooled, To-Shin Do is a complete martial art that focuses on REAL attacks. Some example of things I've learned to defend against in my next post.
scotttealey 3 years ago
I've studied ninjutsu history far before I ever studied the art, and it's different than what you think. Our arts are of direct lineage of many famous ninja grandmasters, like Momochi Sandayu, teacher of famed Hattori Hanzo and Goemon Ishikawa, Failed Assassin of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. This grandmaster created Koto ryu. Koto ryu's principles and modified techniques are included in the very small clip you watched. You've GOT to see it in action. Military and police train in To-Shin Do for a reason.
scotttealey 3 years ago
Okay, return my favor, I watched your vid and gave you credit, now type in 'ninjas suck bullshido' and watch just the first part of that clp with Hayes in it and then tell me again you honestly think this man resembles the savage fuedal Ninja...
michelleestigher 3 years ago
The Black Belt Hall of Fame is the most prestigious MA group in the world. All the stars that so happen to be in it earned their place by originally being either competitors or pioneers of the MA to different nations.
Hayes is also a personal friend of Ken Shamrock, and has trained w/ many other martial artist and stylists. Also, To-Shin Do practitioner come from all sorts of various MA backgrounds. Me, Judo, Siu Lim Tao-Wing Chun, and Shotokan, and a close friend of mine BJJ, and Judo.
scotttealey 3 years ago
Honestly, though, I really don't care about his spiritual practices, for they are not mine and have no bearing on my view of his martial skill.
scotttealey 3 years ago
Are you correcting me on my spelling? Idiot.
Or do they just pretend to be Warriors?
michelleestigher 3 years ago
Do they fight in the ring w/ restricting rules, a referee to save your arse, and true street proven techniques like: eye gauging, skin tearing by tooth and nail, groin striking, throat punching, and neck popping? Some of them have in the past, but they most likely prefer the afore techniques now they're not 'sparring/competiting' in the ring. UFC, K-1, and boxing are sports, not battle. If you can't see the difference, then you should practice something a little safer...like knitting. No offense.
scotttealey 3 years ago
Oh, and secondly, I'm not Buddhist, so it really doesn't concern me who adds what to whatever. But from my understanding of Buddhism, there are many different sects and Buddhist is the search for enlightenment w/o God, but through the understanding of the universal scheme of totality, and the human potential. While I personally don't agree w/ this philosophy, I do understand that Buddha wasn't a god himself, but a philosopher who encouraged others to become their own Buddha.
scotttealey 3 years ago
The prestigious hall of fame? what a joke. It's so "prestigious" that it doesn't even have a website. Ninjitsu isn't even a real martial art. It's just crap that doesn't work but looks cool in old movies.
jeffhanson1965 3 years ago
Scott, you should give this a closer look. Dont make yourself an idiot. The Ninja of today are SAS comandos. Governments spies. Navy SEALs. People like this. Hatsumi is a business man selling everything he knows, most of which is not really impressive anyway. Even if he was not an old man he would not hold up in a UFC ring, for example. The role of the Ninja has changed, Japan now has Special Forces units, modern Ninja. Or mercenaries. Have you seen Rambo 4? Modern Ninja. Not these clowns.
michelleestigher 3 years ago
From your uninformed response about everything I deducted that educating you would be an exercise in futility. BB hall of fame, what do you know about it? So Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Fumio Demura, Jackie Chan, Ip Chun, all these grandmasters (and they all are, because they study their own arts or mixture of arts) are close friends? Incorrect. Also, everyone pays for MA Classes, so don't try to run that game.
scotttealey 3 years ago
you should delute it to much then it would be ninjitsu
nativeman65 3 years ago
Go Anshu, black belt hall of fame member for a reason!
scotttealey 3 years ago
What a bunch of garbage. The "students" (aka suckers) are just doing as they are expected to do... not resist and make it look good. They may actually believe this bullshit is real. It's totally bogus and only morons would think it's legit.
ReggieDunlop1960 3 years ago
MMA ruled by BBJ fighters. BJJ originated with Maeda's Judo. Maeda's Judo originated w/ Judo's founder Kano, who studied Yoshin ryu under a more samurai lineage. One of the Yoshin ryu lines traces to our Ninpo which trinkles down to our art. To call street oriented MMA bull**** is bull****. Some of these very same tactics and techniques are taught in other similar MA such as Krav Maga, Kapap, Pankration. This is combat not sport.
scotttealey 3 years ago 2
Can you actually get a person in a small joint lock as they are punching, kicking, and elbowing you in the face/body. The answer is doubtful. This is a traditional art, however NOT practical for a "Real" fight. The end.

I attended 3 seminars with Hayes in the late 1990's and after the third one, he invited me to attend a 2 week course so I could be an instructor! I asked "After the 2 weeks I would be an instructor?" He stated "yes". Needless to say I got out of there as quick as possible. Man is a money grubbing fraud.
