So does the new TV version suck? I was planning to watch it myself.. I know it can't beat this ova (this is probably one of the best animes I've ever seen), but still.
The history goes on after ACT III, there's way more there on the manga, not even 1/5 was covered, and still, so many great moments were present. but the original OVA was epic in it's own manner, it doesn't even need to be compared to the manga at all, i just wish they could follow everything, which is also one of the reasons i hate the 2004's version, they should at least follow what's left, instead of do the same thing and try to take-over the place of the "oldie" version (worst type of remake)
The music was good, with great BGMs, some songs in english with the feeling of a Rocky movie, and the classy MIO from Dunbine and L.Gaim! What else could they put in the mix? Dire Straits?.... Ok... now that's too much... They put everything they should in the soundtrack score, and fits just like a gloove.
Z Gundam, Hokuto no Ken, Saint Seiya and Area 88 are the most special for me. Oh, by the way, i hate the 2004 remake for yo-yo otakus, that crap makes me roll in madness. Way before that i'm a fan of Area 88 manga, original OVA and even the CAPCOM games (Super Famicon + Arcade), maybe that's why i hate that version and the dumb yo-yos that doesn't even know about nothing they like at all, they only live on for fashion, that's their only culture. Damn, i really hate the 2000's nerd otakus!!
One of the best instrumental songs from episode 3! I love the guitar solos in this one! They're just so awesome and spectacular. In fact, no clear words can describe how awesome it is.

The new one is the only version that sucks so far otherwise the old stuff like the comic book and this was the ones that kicked ass.
Even the video game was amazing!.

Zeta and First gundam are my favourites But I think 0080 War in the pocket was also amazing.
