@lowew79 if the track has roadbed like this does, its ok to run the trains on the floor. I wouldn't however recommend trains directly on carpet, or track directly on carpet without the roadbed underneath. Ultimately, a simple N scale train set can be setup on a kitchen table.
Anyone got a trick to replacing the old style "squarish" couplers? I have a Bachmann thunder valley and it uses the new style knuckle couplers that look more realistic but all my rolling stock uses the old style couplers. I tried to do it once and ended up losing the spring everytime...
@Stroberification I replaced my old Rapido couplers with Kadees that have the wheelsets included. All you have to do is pop the pin holding the old wheelset/coupler in place, and put the new wheelset/coupler combo in its place and put the pin back in. Shouldn't have to mess with springs if you replace the whole assembly.
geeeze never started out with bachman my dad bit a whole in his poket and made me a kato layout boy was i happy christmas now my layout is twice the size and it gos through my bedroom wall
