so maybe teens listen to that and think they are adults(they aren't). also, some might think like i do like, people say i need to get a job and do this and that, and responsibility etc, and we are supposed to get the responsibility of a "young adult" but no reward. like when people are 18, oh you can go to war and get a bullet in you're head, but you cant have a sip of alcohol. so you can have the bad, but none of the good.
maybe kids are having sex because people are telling them to grow up faster o_o . i might be one of the few who notice this, but while i was growing up my teachers and family members and other people liked to remind me like, "you are not a kid anymore, you're closer to being an adult than a kid" i was like in middle school i think. eh in highschool my teacher made sure we knew we were "young adults" by repeating "c'mon guys, you are YOUNG ADULTS, dont act like kids".

Our attitudes surrounding sex is a big culprit in this. We Americans would balk at what European (Netherlands specifically) parents allow their children to do in their own home. I think it has to do with self-esteem, not what the parents do/don't say. I'm from Ireland, I knew what sex was from the age of 7 and that was with out asking any questions. If teens in America that are the same age as me (16) don't know what sex, they're lying. Plus how did Tyra not know what tea-bagging is? lol and I don't think that going to church helps you not have sex young, I went to church for years the only thing I learned is that religion is confusing and the Bible contradicts itself.

I think it has to do with self-esteem, not what the parents do/don't say. I'm 21 (so the same generation), and the extent of my sex talk was "don't do it until you're married, you'll get pregnant or a disease". Obviously, I knew there was much more to it. But I had the self-esteem and self-worth to know that sex was something special to share with someone you love (not necessarily within a marriage), and certainly not something a 13, 14, or 15 year old can handle emotionally or psychologically.

@elifbathaje We don't know what sex is?? WHAT?? I don't know where you're from in Europe, but in Denmark we know what sex is as teenagers.
I don't get american teens either, they just seem STUPID for most of the time. Watching Tyras show has made me want to keep my future kids as far away from america as I can, it really does not seem like a good environment for kids to grow up.

@LSecret I'm from Europe too (Denmark) It's true that teen pregnancy in England and GB is big, but it is not nearly as much as in the US. Anyway you can't really put England as an example of Europe, England is a lot more like America when it comes to issues like this.

I guess every family is different. My mom is very similar to the Christian mom's views, and I still plan to wait until I'm married. It'll be that much more special. And programs at school do not teach you very much. I love how the Christian woman says sex isn't bad. Cause it's not. Kids aren't stupid they know sex feels good. So let's try a different tactic. And get the boys involved more. It certainly takes two.

So many times people think condoms protect you from pregnancy, std's, and sti's. It does not fully protect you. Some of the stuff you can get just from skin to skin contact. i.e. teabagging.

Giving kids condoms doesn't give them license to have sex at all. Many countries have WAY better sex ed than America and have a lower level of teen pregnancies and STDs. It has a lot to do with family issues and attention though. The Christian boy may be getting more.....or be really sneaky! lol
