I just watched this movie (Still epic as ever) and for the hell of it, as soon the credits started, i muted the audio and put on Primus's cover of Metallica "The Thing That Should Not Be" and it went perfect with it.
"Sensual", "romantic" and "Dracula" are words that do not relate to H. P. Lovecraft's works... Have these guys paid any attention to Lovecraft's stories?
I say we should "fish-rape" these filmmakers and then drop them at R'lyeh...
necronomicon actully inspired parts of Eyes of the dragon, by stephen king. Edger Allen poe's masque of the red death inspired the entire masquerade at the end of the story The Shining. something tells me that stephen king is not the master of horror, but the most known horror writer.
This was my introduction to Jeffrey Combs a long time ago--I was disappointed to discover that wasn't his real chin. *sigh* He's pretty much the only thing I enjoyed about the movie--even David Warner was something of a let-down.
i love the story about finding a stone oblisk (yea my spelling sucks) in the middle of nowere, and the auther writing about it as an observer from a hidden vantage point, about how it rose in the air and this realy strange creature begane to come out.
that might not be exactly right but its been a while since i read it.
and no i havent seen the movie yet but am lookng for it now.
"The Drowned" The story does not adapt "The Rats In The Walls" but rather involves the same family. "Whispers" The story takes minor elements from "The Whisperer in Darkness", these bat-like aliens have very little in common with the Mi-go.
For some strange reason I actually like this movie, I know it may be horribly acted and etc. I actually like the stories presented.
@Natliskeliguten Don't you just love that? The one writer whose work is devoid of any sex at all ends up inspiring leagues of film-makerswho throw in sex for the hell of it? Ugh... :/
Books were way better. WAY better.

Entertaining movie, not really Lovecraft though. Don't see enough of Jeffrey Combs these days.

The movie is utter crap! (But at least unintentionally funny!)
The stories in the movie are even totally different from the original stories. Poor Lovecraft!

Wasn't there also a story about a killer called the Butcher who had killed like hundreds of people and they couldn't catch him? Or rather it?

I LOVED this movie when I was a kid. Especially the one with David Warner stealing the spinal juice. SO SO SO good.
Wish someone would upload it to youtube *hint hint*

I thought the segment with Bruce Payne was good. Thanks to his acting, it was better than average

This movie was nothing like what the book is about and not only that it reminded me of the old cheese ball Creepshow movies
