At First, It wasn't very clear, but then you made the hair with more volume, and then the details popped out. The face was a little fat. But i know it is very difficult, and in General it was Realistic and Fantastic, Good job, Wakdor.

You need familiar yourself and have a full grasp of the tool needed for digital painting - in this case Photoshop, and half of the battle is won. Next, you'll need lot of practice, and from there learn from your own mistakes - what to avoid and what can make you a better painter. There a lot of good free tutorials you can find from the net, do email me if you want them.

I normally use soft round and hard round of various sizes and opacities. One tip is to use one hand on the wacom and the other hand working on the brush shortcut keys. But then you need to zoom very very close to get hair look naturally and not out of place . Hence when you working on a portrait is a good idea to work on at least 300 pixel/inch resolution to get the best result.
