Before buying those tomes without using cheats for more money, you can earn a shitload of gold by making and selling potions - or just make a shitload of potions and sell them to the guy while you're buying the tomes. Getting rich with alchemy works in TESIII and IV, too.

These are all disappointing in my opinion :/ Meteor Storm should be the same as the shout Alduin uses at the start of the game which actually calls a meteor storm, Avalanche is just shit, and the Ice Beam only does 8 points of damage per second which is the same as Frost Bite so its kinda pointless, the only difference is range.
