@CloakBass Is anyone having problems with the sound?? I can't hear anything, and it's just these videos as I've checked other videos on youtube. I wanted to watch this too :(
i'm supprised that all three of these thigs don't suck little nemo the nes game little nemo the comic strip and movie most games turned into movies suck but this one dosen't
Funny how the producer touts the "great script" near the end when that's the number one shortcoming of the entire movie Also he's wrong, the movie wasn't entirely animated in Japan. Many key poses and sequences were penciled out by US animators (many notable ones as well, just check the credits) first before it had production started in Japan.
Also, A SIX HOUR MOVIE SCRIPT? I'm no screenwriter, but that absolutely seems like the wrong way to go about about it.
I created an anti Slumberland Furniture Group on facebook. I created this group for unsatisfied customers and ex employees to post their grievances. Just look under groups, and type in " Slumberland Furniture Sucks" Maybe if enough people join, Slumberland will be forced to face and perhaps attempt to correct what has gone horribly wrong within their company!
My favorite film growing up. I really wish I still had the VHS. I love having the DVD with all the extra scenes but some of the cuts suck, like the opening song coming BEFORE the first scene rather than during it.
If I ever find the VHS I'm grabbing it. I even loved the little Tropicana commercial before the movie started. Although I'm probably the only person who actually remembers that. lol.
The OOP Funimation disc has recently (Jan. 09) been repackaged by Echo Bridge. Amazon's listing incorrectly states it's full frame and lists the wrong distributor, but it's DEFINITELY anamorphic widescreen with all the extras of the original 2004 release (which were all aimed at little kids, sadly). Thankfully, these "Making of" clips are available here, so that takes away some of the sting for animation buffs. I picked the new disc up for $5 in a WalMart bin in Canada. Keep your eyes peeled.
Wow, the film story was originally 6 hours long? No wonder the finished product felt like it was jumping around quickly at times. I'd love to know what else they had in there.
Little Nemo is in a dream world, and he uses candy to upgrade in the video game.....Neo is in the dream world (Matrix) and uses candy to get upgrades...
Yes, the one dude sounds like Morpheus. And the creator looks like the Architect!
The story involves a love interest (the princess) who resembles Trinity from the Matrix.
This game has a special place in my heart, and so does the Matrix movie.
I loved the hell out of this film as a kid. I watched it again a couple of days ago and it's just so pretty and trippy. Kind of reminds me of Paprika a bit.
Oh god, I know what you mean. Especially with the sequences where the parade is going by in Paprika, and the the parades and celebrations in Little Nemo. The two movies are cool. :)
It took '10 years of work' to come up with a "Save the Princess" story? Don't get me wrong, I love the film, but the reason it bombed over here is because it is a flawed film. As animation fans, we overlook the flaws, but the average movie goers won't.
i think the balance of time in the story between the introduction, conflict and resolution must have gotten screwed up when they "whittled" everything down from six hours. it strikes me as odd that the door to the nightmare isn't unlocked sooner in the film and there are no denoument type scenes at the end to kind of forgive nemo and flip for screwing up. i think the king should have had some more dialogue and they should have resolved or further explained why the nightmare was locked up.
I watched the home version (is it the same as the version on youtube)?
Are there additional scenes somewhere? My guess would be that there is at least audio for additional scenes. It would make my year if there were additional end scenes some place.
@J2Dstar At the time I was hired to paint the movie poster, I didn't believe it was possible to successfully reinterpret the genius of Windsor McKay. Seeing it now, I have a much better appreciation of this most ambitious effort.
THey also made some pretty strong accusations. I think it was Ebert who called the film a "whitewash" and denounced the Flip character as a racist stereotype. Which in truth, he more or less was 100 years ago when the strip was in its original run. You have to appreciate the irony considering Mickey Rooney's career-decades ago playing all those minstrel roles in black face, the fact that he actually voiced an animated version of one in the 1990's is astounding.
@CloakBass So is this behind the scenes footage available on the 1992 VHS tape only???? I'm trying to find the right one so I can order myself a copy too! :) Do you know if the DVD has this on it as a special feature?
Backwards. Story is american. Winsor McCay. Super talented white dude in America.
However, TMS is a japanese animation company and they had more right and talent to go forth with thte production than Hurtz or Hemdale (perverted and censored bullshit family video line that essentially, killed the release of the film). You know like, turn a profit, fuck the art?
Probably would have been better with a 'japanese' ending and animators.

24.95 for a VHS? That's cheap as fuck compared to the 30-50 bucks I have to pay for blu-rays or dvds on their release date.

That man in the video has some nerve to say that 9month old babies and 5 year old's will enjoy it !
(Uh I hate how many people think as long its an animated movie its for kids)
God didn't that man ever heard of Anime!
Not to mention has this man ever seen
Felidae, Watership Down or the Plague Dogs (I mean come on these movies are animated but their made for Mature - Adult .
Also I'm 24 yrs and that didn't stop me from enjoying this wonderful and creative movie!

I agree. From what I've seen, that seems to be most common, nasty flaw with most animated films out there, a poor/obscure/confusing story.

The home version is about 80 minutes while the theatrical release is about 100 minutes.
They cut out 20 minutes worth of material.
I am not sure if the version posted here on youtube is the theatrical version.
You know this movie was not really made for children.

In 1992, I think the animated feature film was a box-office failure, because Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert gives it "two thumbs down".
