This song seriously brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it. I wish we spent more time helping and supporting one another instead of competing and hatin. We need to unite. We are more powerful when we stand together!
The mystery is what song was sampled on this track. Midi Mafia filtered out the bass, sped up the sample and played it backwards!!!! I guess they really wanted to keep this one a secret, LMAO!!!!!
To be honest, I think Talib Kweli must be the best rapper when it comes to serious and important themes! I can't belive that so many useless and superficial rappers are both hotter and more famous than the great artists like this :(
real music for us black people. stand strong to all that listen and educate yourself and our children. uplift the young black youth! we all we got!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ZTOID because race is important and specific to how we are socialized in this fucked up world. of course at the end of the day fuck race, but for now race is still important and relevant and dictates a lot of our lives.. of course if you are white it is different because race is the dominant hegemonic race, meaning it is seen a the natural or normal race and black brown asian etc is seen as the "other" in the US. never think race doesn't matter you will just come off as ignorant to a lot of ppl
Black people should respect one another then others will respect you.I have black blood and was raised around blacks.I saw how much you people disrespect one another. The hatered and jealousy must stop. Also the gossiping and put downs are just plain evil. Why are bw so mean? Not all of you. It's sooo uncool.Thats whats turning off your men.Who told you attitude is cute?Loose weight and get some class, then the men and nice girl friends wiil come(not lesbians) but good friends.

@clawj26 the reason why real rap like that might not sell as much is because people are closed minded and don't believe in things other than what media tells them which is money, girls and material things. the type of music that they play today is boring because it's all the same, there's no real meaning to it and it sends a bad message to the youth. real rap, real hip-hop however educates, opens up people's minds, has depth to it. real rappers get played wack rappers get paid simple as dat.

@GoodBlackMusic I agree. I'm sure you caught me being sarcastic. There has always been good hiphop if you know where to find that shit. My daughter, who's almost 10 now, probably knows this song word for word. She can name this song in 2 bars or less. Random comment...
Do you love hip hop? i'm not talkin that dancin or autotune bullshit, i'm talking about that real shit that'll inspire you. Well two 17 year olds are trying their hardest to bring that back, check out the channel and show love.
I use to bump this shit all the time. Uplifting. I remember seeing the little girl sing live in person before she got a little break. wonder what shes up to now.
jean is dope as fuck but reminds me of a stupif whore i dated for 4 years. so cant pump her anymore. but shes prob the illest female MC out there by farrrrrrr.
@mabus2007 how dumb of u to post this. No offence but u r the dumbest person i've come across. How can u think some1 is dope n not play her music 4 some other person's actions? fucking tool
there is not one female rapper out there that can top her lyrically. jean's flow is so nasty. id actually rather see her mainstream cuz mainstream would mess with her style

I never knew that the female rapper on this was Jean Grae. I've had "The Beautiful Struggle" for years and never knew this was her verse.
I love Love Thirst but I was never able to place her voice.

There has always been good hiphop if you know where to find that shit. My daughter, who's almost 10 now, probably knows this song word for word. She can name this song in 2 bars or less. Random comment...

jean is dope as fuck but reminds me of a stupif whore i dated for 4 years. so cant pump her anymore. but shes prob the illest female MC out there by farrrrrrr.
mabus2007 1 year ago
@mabus2007 how dumb of u to post this. No offence but u r the dumbest person i've come across. How can u think some1 is dope n not play her music 4 some other person's actions? fucking tool
BrazYKat 1 year ago
there is not one female rapper out there that can top her lyrically. jean's flow is so nasty. id actually rather see her mainstream cuz mainstream would mess with her style

WORD Bro!! I actually do not think Nicki Minaj should be mentioned in the same sentence with Jean Grae. Jean is way big. Just saying.
