Why couldn't Brian Sapient and Kelly O'Conner debate with someone from - let's say - the International Association of Near-Death Studies, instead of wasting their time having to address a couple of creationist yokels like Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron?
Ray 1: God exists because the body is perfectly designed.
Audience member: What about cancer?
Ray 2: Well that would seem to contradict my earlier point, however I will simply claim that the evidence which refutes my argument actually backs it up.
Gah, I hate it when people do that. You ask them a question and they start rambling on about things that do not answer your question! I empathize with that woman.
Ray's problem is that he doesn't think in actions and reactions, but in terms of "goodness" and "badness". His TV breaks and he probably doesn't think about the cold, hard neutral mechanics of electronics but the causes of suffering/badness and original sin, etc.
I am still eternally shocked that Way Of The Master Actually hosts these videos on their own channel! I cannot believe that they would promote their own Failure to debate a subject they claim to believe, and worship inerrantly!
These videos are getting more and more painful to watch. I am thoroughly convinced that Ray Comfort is mentally retarded. I don't say that because he believes in God, but his complete inability to understand even the simplest of questions makes me wonder. There is no doubt he is not playing with a full deck.
Even if for the sake of the argument we reduce the possibility of god to the Christian god, still we have to define WHICH Christian god.
Christians of different denominations arguably worship the same god, but they do not agree on many things: What god wants from us? What will god do to us if we do not behave?
It doesn't actually. If you read the Genesis, there were Two trees in the garden. The tree of knowledge, which would give you the knowledge which gave you the knowledge of good and evil "As gods", and the Tree of Life, which made you live forever. God placed the fiery sword in front of the entrance to the garden explicitly to keep Adam and Eve from getting to the Tree of Life, to keep them from living forever.
If they already lived forever, whence cometh the tree of life?
True. Also, god said they could eat fruits from any tree except the tree of knowledge and such. If death didn't exist, why did they have to digest food?
What would have happened if they went for a year without eating?
What would happen to you if a tyrannosaurus rex slips on the peel of the banana he was eating and falls over you?
"I'd rather you not wreck my train of thought"..."I want to be very respectful."
You stupid, stupid prick!
And as for Ray's last analogy, which could be described as Fail of Epic Proportions, the waves can actually be detected.

Oh shit! How many times does Roy Comfort need to hear that she is not addressing the issue of suffering but the existence of cancer!

i still think that jebus was the son of khan and that we all have to believe in him and pray to him if we want to enter Nirvana!

that seems kind of unfair to have a theist host. they shouldve employed an agnostic. Even then Rational response kicked WOTMs ass.

Yeah, or a deist host

The high point of this whole affair is the audience shouting at Comfort after he, yet again, pretends the cancer question is a "suffering" question.

he never intended to answer any questions, he sees this as an opportunity to preach, and hopefully increase his church and his pocket.

God, Ray is dense.
Her question was basically "If the 'perfection' of nature is evidence of god, are imperfections evidence against it?" Rather simple.

"God, Ray is dense."
God: *nods* Yes he is. As you can tell by Creation, I think idiots are always funny, which is why I created so many of them.

If god is infallable, then how could his creation fail, unless he intended it too, in which case he's still a sadistic motherfucker

Where in the bible says that death didn't exist before the fall of man?

I really find Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron truly pathetic individuals, the only reason i listen and watch these videos is because of dechha.

Agreed

I agree. The only reason I'm watching these is Dechha's commentary on them. Thank God there are only two left.
