Cubase 5 - Beat Design and Loop Mangling

yeah how do you preview a sound like a beat instead of selecting it. in the tutorials he say's use the keyboard and scroll down and listen to it BUT i don't know if he is using a piano keyboard ?

finally got damn time,shit i'm tired of not seeing my damn frum patterns. couldnt see it in reaper, reason ,nir pro tools fuck all the damn programs and reason sounds muddy anyway man i'm on sampletank, sonik synth, miroslav , samplemoog and sampletron all i need and with cubase 5 and the drum machine on top of that. its time for a change. vubase 5 here i come.
