  • How does one go about getting a commercial scalloping license? I plan on buying a boat in 6 years, but it seems like they make the information very hard to obtain.

  • That aint the BURKS boat there is 2 people on deck.lol andy would be sleeping, and charly would be sitting on his fat ass!!

  • How many lbs do you typically catch a year?

  • I want to to this as a living!!! It is my dream--I love the ocean, seafood and adventure. Someone please giv me info

  • How do you guys feel about us recreational guys fishing in your bycatch slick. Last June Bluefin were holding behind the scallop boats in the cigar area. I had some luck trolling a few hundred yards behind some boats. However I would really love to come right up next to you and throw chunks into your slick. Ive heard of guys exchanging beer for a bucket of bycatch and the right to fish your slick. is this true?

  • @matt9822 i for one enjoy boats trolling behind me while im towing. its nice to see "civilization" since we can be away from home for a while. we get bluefin and sharks behind our boats. be careful and keep a safe distance and theres no problems. were always monitoring channel 16. give the boat a call, go to a different channel, and then talk about trades. im sure they'll be happy to.

  • great video

  • John, is that you ?

  • Can you please tell me who might need a deckhand in Cape May, NJ? I don't have the time to hang out hoping a boat will pull in by chance. I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much for responding.

  • @routejumper hey bud unfortunately i too had the dilemma of not being able to make it to the docks as i live in florida however it requires that initiative.....its part of the lifestyle lol

  • this song's by Great Big Sea, NOT Jimmy Buffett...

  • the cigar is a good spot too...

  • MrBballa2010 -You have no clue what you are talking about.

  • love a bit of monkfish, good vid mate

  • u tow from wy too high

  • we dont get any money for monkfish livers any more.

  • the liver on that monk fish is worth more then anything else on it and he threw it away...

  • lol, the fish at 6:41 is a monkfish, ugly motherfucker.

nice workn to the guy who fixed it up though.

  • Awsome Vid, now if someone could cook up that Monk Fish for me, I'd be a happy camper!

  • Would be nice if someone stuck a screwdriver in to that moron's eyes. How may ways can one be cruel, anyway? Shame. I give this a minus ZERO!

  • he was demonstrating how to cut monk fish tails. thats just fishing. the stabing of the eyes is so he can fit his fingers in, to get a grip on the fish. its the only way you could get ahold of them, because they are so slimy. he's not doing it to be cruel, thats just his job.

  • one, it was likely dead from being out of the water too long,

two, that's the only way to handle a monkfish, way slimy.

  • Sweet Monkfish!

  • And the viciously cruel idiot who killed that poor thing flunked the IQ test a long time ago.

  • is that a day boat?

  • Good video, I love it when we go dock to Cape may, it's so close to Atlantic City, you know how it is!!!!lol!!! I see you guys don't like peanuts, lol, who does!!!

  • I would have gotten yelled at for picking the pile that slowly. We've got a dumping mat instead of a table so your bent over the whole time too.

  • It was just for the video, slinging hundreds of scallops at light speed isn't very interesting to watch, ya' know?

  • yea, I gotcha. I worked with my father and brother for the past few years on my dads boat, didnt get too many photo's last summer and now we're out of business so its back to square one and looking for a new site.

I know I'd be hanging over the side GREEN being laughed at

I know it's work but you make it look fun to do it

    Thanks for posting it RRRRRRRRRR!!

  • Thanks for the comment - it is work, and it is fun. Like a guy once told me: "Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life" :-)

  • do you want an australian fisherman to show you how things are done?

  • Post a video - I'd love you to "show me how it's done" Hmmm

  • im a rock lobster(crayfisherman) not a scollop dredger so i your job seasonall?

  • Scalloping is basically year round. The NMFS opens up different areas all up and down the coast and many of the boats chase the openings. We used to fish from Massachusetts to New Jersey.

New regulations have recently deemed thousands of scallop permits worthless in an attempt to shrink the fleet. Everyone who didnt have landings during certain years was done for good.

My father was one of them because he was running someone else's boat during the "qualifying" years.

  • ha i'd love to see u show us how its not done.

  • Great video!!!

  • Thanks for visiting!
