  • the reason is: the night before he gave a very emotional concert (an evening with jm) where he gave all he could give live - incredible performance - so he he shot his gunpowder before this concert...

  • Wtf is organ doing.... that organ player ruined this amazing song...

  • 7:39 woman humping the air and pulling her hair...the magic of john mayer

  • He became a better guitarrist since DeLa, but he got worse singing. :(

  • He's just really, really good, no matter what....& so hot he leaves a trail of fire in his wake=)

  • 2:43 he sound like a sheep.. but anyways he guitar playing in this show were incredible.

  • so suave @ 6:26 :D

  • wow you can really see he doesn't feel well, look at 1:12

  • I really don't like the new lines for keys. These swells are really annoying and can't come close to the simplicity and awesomeness of the original. Mayers guitarplaying is still awesome though...

  • 7:29-7:34 NASTY, I get goosebumps every time I hear this live...

  • JM's best song. ever. period.

  • this song reminds me of clapton's River Of Tears

  • @jvbluenote You know what this song reminds me of? Purple Rain.

  • lol he pulls a chewbacca @ 2:43

  • @lefte18-hahaha i caught that, too xD

  • Gravity's the song most important for John Mayer

  • What guitar is he using?

  • @limme13 He calls it "The Black One". But it's a fender strat. if im not mistaken

  • @limme13 a gretsch black les paul

  • @supern00b

It's a fuckin Fender Stratocaster... wauw you sure are trolling xD

  • @supern00b wow... you couldnt be more wrong but I think your joking haha

  • @supern00b NOOB! how come fender have les pauls? its a black one signature guitar of john mayer.

  • There is really something missing here? Er don't know what it is? But in where the light is, there is a feeling which is missing here.. I don't like this performance..

  • @modjias there is a reason where the light is became an audio album retard. everything was mapped out. where the light is had to be airtight. don't be a fucking retard.

  • the solo at the end, it's like seeing Eric Clatpon/SRV/Jimi Hendrix

  • Can't belive you cancelled the concert in Denmark...

  • @modjias or in Holland..

  • i think he was sick during this concert and the letterman concert. still the best tho

  • I'm a mayer TOO :) but I have to say this whole concert is not his strongest performance ever...maybe he had a bad day ? but his vocal is not as good as usual....and still I enjoy all these songs :)

  • @jorihaar He was ill. Posted on his blog i seem to remember

  • Great performance, although his voice is not really up to standard.

    Bad that is.

  • worst live performance of gravity I've seen him do. Crossroads performance was incredible.

  • wtf are you saying of he did in this song hi makes this song amazing fucking song and he won a grammy for a solo in new york changing things

  • he must have had a soar throat or something that night cause he's performing pretty bad vocally compared to what he usually does. a pity, since he is AWESOME in every other aspect!

  • he must have had a soar throat or something that night cause he's performing pretty bad vocally compared to what he usually does. a pity, since he is AWESOME in every other aspect!

  • This is amazing!!!

    I love you John<3!

  • What I wouldn't give to be that shirt at 4:24

  • 7:06...amazing

  • he had the flu, listen to all his other performances, you can hear a huge difference!

  • Sos un zarpado con la viola man !!!

  • "just keep me where the light is"... so great that just found these, the band sound very together... Thanks for posting.

  • Not his A game, but still one of the best to my ears.

  • yeah this definitely is not his best concert vocally but regardless hes come all this way and done all these great things with his music cause he really is that good . keep up the good work john

  • I have no words to comment about John in this performance. It doesn't matter if he's not singing perfectly this concert, but he makes me feel this song so strong, I was just ecstatic all this video. He's the best, no matter what people say.

  • For some reason i'm not digging the organ sound on this, or the band at all really. The 07-08 versions of Gravity were fantastic.

  • Someone should take the volume pedal from the organ dude so he stops ruining the song.

  • i agree, it's like he's trying to add but it's really taking away a lot from the song

  • robin mcintosh! he's the best!

  • steve jordan just got fat thats all guys lol

  • um..... I need DeLa back...

  • And the horns!!

  • @ProjectDoloroso y? who's on the bass now?

  • @ProjectDoloroso screw DeLa i want Pino back hahaha

  • @JamesCornelisonMusic i was gonna write the same thing then i saw u said it for me ;)

  • lol, 2:44 just made me laugh, when he sings **my*** knees, he kinda sounds like a sheep, but no one is better than john these days period, there isn't a single guitarist nowadays that can pour out those emotions through those bends more than him. keep on keepin on

  • I hit the wrong button!! Damit! I would have voted thumbs up.. I laughed so hard :D hahah

  • Gravity, stay the hell away from me! <3

  • Guitar playing: BRILLIANT.

  • I think his guitar playing is getting too complex, and his focus is going too strong on the vocals.

The lead and the solos are wild compared to the rhythm.

He should go back to letting his guitar do all of the singing for him.

  • hmm, is his drummer new? he seems to have a lack of energy..

  • No Dude Steve Jordon Has Been With Him For A While ....Since The Heavier Things Album

  • @deejhay211 yeha he's a just a relaxed drummer by nature, he's awesome though

  • Steve Jordan played the drums for continuum.

  • dude, you gotta watch Steve work on the Trio act of Where The Light Is. The dudes a monster

  • he killd "Wait Until Tomorrow".!

  • killed it? It wasnt living before he covered it.

  • killed it means he played it really well.

  • ah i thought it was bad. whatever, sorry.

  • damn, he sings flat. still like the playing, though. as usual.

  • We can talk about the little itty bitty mistakes that John makes like his vocals or whatever.. but think about the overall sound. I wanted to freakin' jump with him in my chair just watching this video! And the finale? Simply amazing! You can't not give John credit for the amazing performance he still gave. Kudos to you John.

  • am i the only one who gets horrible audio???

like some kind of doppler effect...

  • John Mayer is "Fera na guitarra"

I guess what he didn´t in the studio with your guitar (I´m talking bout solos) he´s doing it live on stage. This solo on Gravity was amazing

  • what john mayer does on one guitar, most bands couldn't do with two

  • although i dont really like his singing a whole lot in this one, i can really feel him in it. you know? i can FEEL him. i cant feel anything from him on his new songs. I can FEEL his soul through his guitar on this. Theres the intensity dripping through every note he plays. Theres legitamacy in his dance with teh guitar. I just cant feel it or see it in lthings like friends lovers or nothing or perfectly lonely. it just isnt there.

  • His guitar solo is quite sublime here. Good note progressions, he's feeling the notes and not just spewing out a lot of notes without consideration. Though I think his voice is quite off at some playes in this concert.

  • @nthsieh928 r u serious his new album is full of emotions but I guess we all can have our own opinion for me his new album connects with me a lot

  • @nthsieh928 aside from crossroads, the guitar was a no show. sadly i don't think we will see anything as good as gravity in the future

  • @nthsieh928 it's called blues: the true heart of john mayer

  • @nthsieh928 Probably the reason you feel more from this than you do on songs from Battle Studies is because Mayer said Continuum was his love afair with jazz, blues, and pop (which with jazz and blues brings soul). Then he described Battle Studies as a pop album which sets him up for his next album to be more guitar centered. He will proabably come out with another album similar to Heavier Things next. It should be good!

  • damn hes lost his ear for his pitch.

  • all you haters listen to this performance and learn what real good music sounds like!

  • forget john's voice....listen to his playing on this song. the way he plays the guitar takes elements of his predecessors like stevie ray vaughan and bb king and combines them with his own style and creates new blues, which is the genre he generally gives this song. this song, and its many live variations is probably his best song to date.

  • For all those who critisice John Mayer's voice in this concert.... try to play with such a big band behind you, playing that loud without being able to hear yourself (watch he's got that thing off his ear), that's why he's all the concert taking it off!!

  • i dont like this new way of playing the key part :S but the others are great!

  • i don't know what everyones talking about, as an aspiring guitarist who knows a good amount about the instrument, I think this is probably one of the best performances of guitar work I've ever seen ever. and certainly miles beyond anything from the "where the light is" dvd or any other televised concerts from him

  • John's voice was off, but this video is still five star quality...his guitar work was some of the craziest shit I have ever seen him perform in this video...He just went crazy, its like he knew his voice was off so he made up for it with his epic shredding skills

  • oh john... letting us down :( this performance is not as good as he is capable of :( it's good... but missing that little spark he usually gets between his voice and his guitar...

  • I think his live performance in L.A. is way better than this one :/ .. This is a bit sad!

  • haha he is definitely going down in history as the falsetto guy .....

  • First off. I am a HUGE! John Mayer fan. But Every performance from the new album i've seen he looks super rusty. In vocals and guitar playing... Just my opinion

  • I feel the same way.

  • @bluzguitarplayer12 probably because this album is so big on vocals that he is finding it hard to put out those big vocals and still be the modern guitar hero he is

  • Omg 2:44! Listen to it. He's got "myyyy" all wrong! :b First time I've heard JM so false.

  • Yeah... Agree with you.

  • hea can do whatever he wants, it's his own version

  • I'm not implying that he cannot do whatever he wants - just noticing that his singing was false.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were there celebrating Cara's 16th birthday. It was even better live!! Thanks for posting!

  • great song

he was a bit off but it was still an amazing show

it sounded like the organ player fucked up the beginning but its just me haha

  • Another example of just good John is SUPERB !!!!

  • OH, and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and his daughter Liv were in the audience and he was rocking out to the songs.....he had that big old "trademark" smile going on!

  • I was lucky enough to be there and I have to say this was the highlight of the night for me!! Being that it was a "cd" release concert, I was so happy that he played so many old songs, not just the new ones. All and all it was awesome!!!

  • This has to be one of the best concerts I've seen on TV in a long time.

  • I love how the audio for ALL the other songs is perfect and this is the only one so far thats a little sketchy wtf :(

  • ...hoped for a more distinctive and dynamic performance...butt you can't win the lottery all the time like john mayer seems to do almost all the time. but enjoy every minute of what he gives anyway...

  • how many videos did you say this on

  • yea john def has vocal talent... and u can see that on where the light is dvd... but he was a little off with vocals but who cares... he was killing on guitar

  • i agree with you guys he sounded off last night. he def had a touch of the flu he looks really pale and his voice was def off. still a great show though

  • in this concert this song is actually where his voice sounds best in my opinion

  • yeah his voice was kinda weird...

  • i love john, he's the reason i started playing guitar and i've idolized him--but to be honest, the further away he got from the microphone last night, the better. he must have been sick, because his voice was slightly terrifying. so glad he let his guitar speak here on gravity and killed it!

  • beautiful. :D

  • This was a sick version. Nice to see he's still developing

  • thats pure genius from the man ,thats why no matter whats written in the press and his celebrity status he will be remembered as a top draw guitarist of the highest orded

  • thankyouuuuu!!!!
