@thebird1080 Actually it doesn't have an air filter, but I should probably change the fuel filter. The idle is just fine though. It just takes a while to get going. Its an old carbed 2 cycle engine, what do you expect xD
i have a 99 stx900 and i have the same issue. my remedy works great though. go to auto zone, get a can of starting fluid, take the carb cover off, spray some into all three cylinders. starts right up.
idk y, but i never asked anybody this, but i have the 1100 stx di model and my steering handlebars are like wobbly (not seem to b loose) it was like this for a bout 1 month and i nevr thought but is it ok if its wobbly like dat??? plz reply!!
@chorstma44 dude i like your videos but i have a 2003 yamaha xlt 800 waverunner and it starts way easier than that. i just pit it in the water, reverse, and then pull the choke and all that and start it while giving it some gas. have not had one problem
@dieselducy I would recommend it to anyone. Its been running strong for 8 years. Its a kawasaki 900sts. I got it new in 2002 for 9 grand. You should be able to find a decent one for around 2 grand. You'll definatly get your moneys worth with it. I know I have. I like this better than my newer kawasaki ultra lx. The red one has a flatter hull which is a lot of fun. After driving a lot of jet skis, this one is still the most fun

I have a 1995 Kawasaki 900zxi, here is a tip: When you are first cranking the motor over, and the choke is on, try giving it a little gas, once it starts to fire on choke, take it off choke and without giveing it anymore gas, crank it over again. This allways works for mine and trust me, i know these machines are cold blooded, mine is a beast lol. even if you have no luck with this, give the starter a break when starting, crank, count to 5 then stop, crank. count to five then stop, and so on.
Thanks for the tip. I have actually tried that and I have had no luck with it. This used to start easier but as it is aging the harder it gets. I have also tried giving the starter a break but It actually took about twice as much cranking to start it. One thing do if I am having trouble is to start it out of water until it fires and then quickly lower it in. If I let it sit for 3 weeks or more than it will be so hard to start so I put a bit of starting fluid in each cylender. Works great!
Actually, I have never done any work at all on the engine besides the usual change in plugs and filters. It has ran like a champion since I got it 8 years ago.
It is. It is a 2 cycle and the plugs get fouled fast. I usually clean the plugs once a month. It needs new plugs after winter storage because I tried to start it and it killed the battery after trying to start it.
ever clean the air filter or change the fuel filter? What about adjusting the idle jet?

As soon as it 'pops' take the choke off. You close the choke to increase the vacuum on the fuel. It's like a chainsaw or a strimmer.

is it faster then your ultra lx ??
snickerfatman54 2 years ago
The ultra lx is about 2 mph faster. Once I replace the wear ring it should be the same speed and I'll have to race them again
