Thanks for the video. I was tired of seeing all the other Triumph reviews and found yours to be refreshing. I'm looking for a new bike and this one is definitely high on the wish list
I'd like to see a follow up vid. Of your thoughts after 2yrs. With the bike (if you still have it) mods., reliability, maintenance. They must be good bikes cause I'm having a hard time finding a used one.
Although your intentions were good, this video is very disorganised. You didn't make any plan beforehand, so you tend to keep moving around back and forth, uming and ahing. The camera is moving about too much so we cannot see things clearly before you move on again. Next time, i suggest you make a list of the things you want to show and say and then stick to it.
@cynic150 you really are a cynic If you disliked it so much why did you watch the whole thing? Add idiot150 to your handle as well. Is this well thought through enought for you?
@chetured Can't handle a little bit of constructive criticism? At no point did cynic150 insult you, he merely pointed out what could have been done better. Your reaction was immature and uncalled for.
You call my comments immature ? What about your comments then? It is what it is - an amateur review wasn't meant to be perfect. Looks like you two, are birds of the same feather why dont you subscribe to cynic's channel instead o f watching mine?
@chetured I never said your video was bad - I quite enjoyed it, actually. All I'm saying is you could have handled that a little bit better as he makes valid points. I fail to understand why you felt the need to insult someone who was merely trying to help you improve your videos.
8900 isn't that cheap for a FIRST bike... a 675cc engine can be TOO much for a lot of people. I started with a 250 and it is PLENTY of power and happy moments. I will adventually be upgrading to a 600cc or so engine, most likely this or a triple R
There are not that many bikes out there that are too much for a new rider. As long as you take your safety course, and drive safely, you'll be fine. The power on your bike gets dangerous when you start to drive dangerously. It's all about maturity and attitude.
@jflexe99 Well I am a new US rider, I know 150 and 250 cc bikes are fun but not enough power for really riding hard and fast/ the CCs come with weight too and design stability etc. Also you can kill yourself in a car or bicycle with no CCs as well. So saftey is always important. I highly recommend this bike ... Go get it ! Its fun ! Thanks for your post - Glad you liked the video
@jflexe99 I was comparing it everythign else tha twas out there that was new - Many similar bikes start at 10 - and BTW they even increased prices after I posted. Glad you liekthe bike !
Hi guys-my first bike was a street triple.I bought it brand new just 3 weeks after passing my test. You should be ok if you show it respect.Six months later I got myself a 2006 Aprilia Tuono which is a different animal. But guess what.......I still got the streety cos i love it so much-its a fantastic bike and i never stop singing its praises!I 've done 9000 miles on it since Jan 2009.and 6000 miles on the Tuono since July.Roll on summer!
i want to get one of these bikes, but i'm a fresh graduate from the motorcycle school. i have no prior experience except the hours i spent rolling around the cones in an empty parking lot. do you think it's a safe bike to start from? i heard in the video...you stated something about this being your first bike, but you said "in U.S"...so i'm guessing you knew how to ride for quite some time now.
you should get a cheap beater bike to really learn on good options are ninja 250 ninja ex500 suzuki gs500. you don't wanna get a nice new triumph and drop it doing a newbie mistake
Yeah I agree with dropping a NEW bike would be bad. Im 18 and got my first bike two years ago. I got a 1998 Triumph Daytona 955. I have respected the power enough that I am alive still today. But holy balls it is fast haha.
A Ninja 250 would be a better starter bike it is also a REALLY fun bike, super light, looks great, it's just lacking the power. BUT I have ridden a Triple several times, I think as long as you are not an IDIOT with the throttle you could start out on this bike. The Triple is very light also, and very easy to handle, its a comfortable riding position too.Check Triumph's web site for the DEMO events, U can ride it there. Check carefully for the details, they do have rules to let you ride.
@MrGentlehand Notice he hasn't replied yet and you made this comment two months ago. He probably died on it. My first ride was a GS500. I think going any higher on a starter could get you in trouble. Being responsible might help. Really the fact is that riding is extremely dangerous no matter what. I had a GS500 and it did all I needed it to. Sat at 80 nice and easy on the interstate and gave me all the acceleration I could ask for.
@MrGentlehand Of course I'm also speaking with zero experience on a Street Triple. I'm looking to get one myself. No, I'm sure he's not really dead. I'm just jealous he has on and I don't!
if i ordered black and got green, i wouldnt have accepted it. having said that, you got the better color dude, the roulette green is bad ass. enjoy it and stay safe!
Dude hinds motorsports seems to have lost their right to sell triumphs. Anyway ... Green is still fun . But do you know Green in MC world is Kawasaki and nothing else
Great walkround of a sweet bike - this machine can bite the unwary newbie tho - it's a beast! Hope you've had a great year. (For some reason I want one with a Tiger faring/nosecone.. can't understand why Triumph styled it so much on the Speed Triple when it's a different thing altogether)
The tires that comes with it (dunlop qualifier) are farely good but they don't last very long.. if u are any agressive u will need to change these rear tires after 4000km. I am currently experiencing a littl problem with fuel injection, the bike stalls when it returns to idle. It looks like there has been a recall on 04-08 Rocket III.. i am still waiting for my dealership to phone me back about this issue. other than that i love my bike and i don't regret it
I own a 09 Jet Black Street Triple with arrow exhaust and would like to share my opinion about it. 106 HP for 360 Pounds (dry weight) is amazing, instant wheelies, great front breaks but it would be a bit better with bigger ones on the rear end. The seat is really low which is amazing for first timers but gets a bit anoying over the time.. some would say it is a bike for midgets. It looks good, it's a show off toy it's great for short distance travelling but not good for long trips..
Thanks! Ive been looking for a real walk around by a normal guy. All the other videos Ive seen are either squids doing burn outs or Moto-journalist vomiting up the same crap you read in every bike reviews. Thanks again for a great vid.
How much faster is an R ? Also - I never really pushed any other bike hard- How much better are these bikes in your opinion than something like a GSX ?
R is not faster. In fact is the same as the regular triple. The only difference is front brakes and adjustable suspension, which makes it a little sportier.
i believe they have 2 or 3 more horse power.. but many more options like ajustable suspension, gel seat.. etc
these bikes are not comfy at high speed.. u will prolly top speed 235-250 depending on your weight and acessories u have.. they have amazing torc though.. 69nm.. 360 pounds dry weight.
Its basically a visual rev limiter , you can set it to whatever you want so that you have a 3 light or 5 light indicator whne it reaches the rev limit you set it to.
I looked at decent old bike, they wer nto cheap and there was no fiancing etc available???? Also it woud be hard to sell a junker bike again. If I sold my strpl I would get almost what I paid for even after the year is up !!!
8000 out the door seems to be pretty decent for a brand new Triumph, especially for a new rider.
I know a lot of people say to go buy an old junker bike to learn on, however, if you buy a new bike or a bike with a decent sized engine, I think the new rider is more apt to respect the bike and be a safer rider keeping in mind the financial sacrifice they have made. I think this bike fits the bill for the above description.
gotta say since i read about this bike and looked it up properly i fell in love with it, i currently have a cbr 125 as im learning i plan next year to buy this bike outright new fantastic review from just a normal person ...
you know... when it rains, or when the road is a bit muddy: your bike could get very dirty. The rear hugger prevents that for a bit. If you don't mind how much out the door did it cost? It lists for 7999.00 I think. I'm guessing for taxes add about 750-800 or so. Is that about right or was there a high dealer markup?
Thanks for the response. I'm considering trading in my cbr600 and aprilia falco for one. I think the prices went up a bit at least for the 09's. I have new bike fever so bad it hurts and for around 8g's I think I may have to satisfy it. I will definitely get the arrow or whichever is the loudest exhaust they have for it to hear the triple roar.
thanks for the review! had a triumph america old man turned into me and snapped my foot and sent me flying...I roll on a 72 R75/5 BMW...its alot more fun than the america was...but I sat on a street triple today and I have to admit..comfortable..I love the engine too...
If anyone is thinking getting this for first time bike prepare to be easy on the trottle and dont drive above 60-80 km/h
even at this speed you can get yourself killed and other people like pedestrian, etc because doing all the shifting, breaking cornering, looking at car drivers and people walking on the street you have to think fast and rookies tend to be slow on reaction.
Actually if your more than 25 years old you can take the driver license and ride right away above 25KW any CC, if your younger than 21 you have to wait 2yrs ridin only 25KW, after 2 years you have no limit.
First bike? are u havin a laugh.......????? People shud never be able to get on a bike this powerful when learning. Generally in europe ur limited to 33hp for 2 years after u have passed ur test and got ur full licence.
Dude, I have had my Jet Black Striple for 3 weeks now. Absolutely love it. However, I have been careful to break 'er in according to the tank guidelines. I am really looking forward to see what she is like north of 8,000 rpm. I hear it is a totally different experience. Great for tooling around the city at lower speeds too.

The Street Triple truely is a great bike, I have a Speed Four (can't compare them...)
But I don't think that the ST is a good beginner bike....I rode a ST when I started to ride.. but I decided to buy a Ducati Monster first.
The Monster is good for beginners because it's low with a low bar.. it's good to learn how to manouver.....
But then I got bored of it... and bought a blue Speed Four.. great bike!!! ^^
