Road tax goes to the exchequer (like most taxes). Everyone pays for roads, hospitals. schools and the like. The exceptions are parking tolls and fines which have to be directly or indirectly pay for road/ driving related things at a local government level. Council tax similarly has to be spent at a local level.(look at your CT summary each year) ..if he lives in an expensive area he may actually be paying MORE than you! towards the roads. SMIRK!

Presumably the cyclist knew the road. Therefore he would know of the impending bus-stop and the fact that the bus would have to pull in. Why did he not make allowances and ease off way before then allowing the bus past? Because he's an oaf, that's why.

@mjp1511 there's no such thing as "road tax". It's "Vehicle Excise Duty" (VED), and it's charged according to emissions. Even if bicycles were subject to it, they'd pay £0 just like other zero/low emissions cars. Further, roads are payed for out of general taxation (income tax, council tax, VAT, etc) - which cyclists pay just like anyone else. It's their road just as much anyone else's! Finally, it's not cyclists holding up motorists - it's other motorists, just look at the queue ahead of you!

Not sure on this one. The bus was approaching his stop and the cyclist decided to squeeze through at that moment. As a road user you should know that busses do random stops and if you see a bus stop coming up stick behind the bus so you can overtake it once it pulls in.

@mjp1511 there's no such thing as "road tax". It's "Vehicle Excise Duty" (VED), and it's charged according to emissions. Even if bicycles were subject to it, they'd pay £0 just like other zero/low emissions cars. Further, roads are payed for out of general taxation (income tax, council tax, VAT, etc) - which cyclists pay just like anyone else. It's their road just as much anyone else's! Finally, it's not cyclists holding up motorists - it's other motorists, just look at the queue ahead of you!

Not sure on this one. The bus was approaching his stop and the cyclist decided to squeeze through at that moment. As a road user you should know that busses do random stops and if you see a bus stop coming up stick behind the bus so you can overtake it once it pulls in.
I drive a car and am scared shitless of busses. I have a mate who is a ex bus driver and he has said to me to stay the hell away from them because some of them simply don't care about other road users well being.

In Toronto many streets have no bike lanes, so the right lane is for parked cars as well as bicycles. Instead of safely merging when approaching a parked car, they shoot out without looking. When stopped at a red light, they ride into my blind

@kd84afc I AGREE with you here. This rider should not have put himself in that position. You need to give extra consideration to large vehicles 39stonecyclist. If he HAD hit you you'd both be wrong but you'd be dead. Your decision. BTW I don't think the bus driver IS annoyed by your speed: it's more to do with your erratic cycling.
