  • Ah the good ole toys. Better then the crap we got today. (The new toys are still cool :p)

    Soundwave superior Bayformers inferior

  • i like how Soundwave throws Laserbeak like shuriken.

  • BEST TRANSFORMER TOY EVER!

  • Teeth = chicklets

  • @ 0:07 Pink Soundwave?

  • All the old commercials have these buck-toothed children saying "ROBOTS IN DISGUISE"

  • Soundwave was by far the coolest to play with. Having Lazerbeak in his chest was just pure awesome. Sadly the mechanism that held the tray closed broke pretty quickly ^^

  • My mom gave all my 80s toys/action figures to the Philippines...

Last year, I bought the old school Soundwave from amazon for $80. The new transformers figures are hard to transform

  • "OH NO! IT'S A REALLY COOL TOY YOU BOUGHT! YOU CAN ONLY BEAT HIM BY BUYING MORE TOYS! HURRY KIDS, THE FATE OF THE UNIVERSE DEPENDS ON HASBRO GETTING MONEY!!!"

  • All you bitches out there poking fun at the kid with the perfect teeth, know this....that kid is my uncle, and he is a very successful lawyer today. TAKE THAT!!

  • @flukes777 I thought he was a pretty cool kid, shame he grew into a lawyer ;D (joking, joking)

  • @flukes777 BFD!

  • Thanks! This is a long-awaited Original (American) Soundwave commercial!!! The Japanese versions featured the loundmouth Issei Masamune voiceovers :P

interestingly the commercial cast and animations ARE EXACTLY the same in both versions.

  • So now kids are asking ... a cassete what???

Manny fans are insultet that he is a Sattelite in the movie !... I gues a MP3 player would do him more justice?????

I think Soundwave and Grimmlock are the best figures in Transformers, both Dinosaurs and Casseteplayers are extinct in sertain way butt still kick ass.

And ... uhm comunicator ...... as in walkie talkie ???? No thanks, I have a pigion ... I mean a laserbeak for that.

  • @JannesHuizing

He was a Sattelitte and Spaceship in ROTF, he was a sportscar in DOTM

  • @snakes3425 so?????? Why not all in 1??? A sportscar with casseteplayer who can transform in a spaceship wit a sattelite on .... into the bigest mp3 player ... ore maybe a I-Tab

    ;)

  • As badass as Soundwave is, I never liked the idea of him transforming into a tape player, why he couldn't become a car or a plane is beyond me (keep in mnd this is my personal opinion)

  • How come my Soundwave never made those clicking sounds whenever I transformed him? Now I feel cheated.

  • whats that smaller gun?

  • Soundwave is a communications officer. The Autobots need backup to take him down. That just goes to show how badass Soundwave is.

  • i got a soundwave on the aniversery rhing, hes epic.

  • First one I ever had. I wanted Optimus for christmas but they were all sold out so all my ma could find was Soundwave and she didnt know if Id even like him. HE WAS FUCKING AWESOME!

  • Haha!! Soundwave pops open his chest, grabs the cassette, and tosses it. I like that.

  • I still have Soundwave along with all my other transformers. Probably not worth much because they are used and some parts are missing although nothing is broken.

The originals seem like they were built with more attention to detail over today's models. Especially Megatron and the Dinobots.

  • Soundwave was my first Transformer....and the best one. I really got a kick out of the commercials. Whenever they transformed any of them there would be a clicking sound....but when you got them at home you would never hear it!!

  • I love how the kid yells "WE NEED TO GET MORE AUTOBOTS!" Good one Hasbro ;)

  • in the animated portion of this commercial soundwave looked different not as square, more rounded and sleek, he also seemed smaller to me... almost like a minibot, i could be wrong

  • this was my favorite toy...i loved those dam cassettes but kept losing them ....i loved the panther cassette,,,or i thought it was a panther

  • this was my favorite toy...i loved those dam cassettes but kept losing them

  • the way that kid transforms soundwave I'm surprised he didn't break it

  • Of course they never addressed the issue of what you were going to do with the other 3 tapes.

  • They say the British have terrible teeth, we're nothing compared to that kid at 0.18.

  • wow. u found the rarest tf commercial EVER. than kyou

  • ITZ DAH DESHEPTIKOHN KOHMMUNIKATER! GHET MOAR AHTOHBOHTZ!

  • I wanted Soundwave, but my mom got me the cheap knock-off - "Cassette Man".

  • @harlequin75 Cassette Man is his original Microman name.

  • @RedRanger2001

Really? That's interesting...I didn't know that. This bit of information is about 28 years too late LOL. Cassette Man met a terrible fate at the end.

  • @harlequin75 LOOOOOLL!!! Tell me you just joking!!! OH HAHA. Bless you. I haven't laughed soo hard in a week! I needed that! Bless you!!

  • @harlequin75 What a downer, my mom got me the bootleg of Optimus, Diaclone something? I don't know. But I still have it in the box, everyone is offering me 900 bucks but I dont want them to get ripped off!

  • @MinimunWage well u see the thing is transformers orginated from japan in 1970 and the toyline was called diaclone what u are having is not a knockoff but the very very first optimus prime before he came to america so yeah it's the original prime hell if u were selling it now people will pay more than 900 dollars for it charge em more lol XD

  • @MinimunWage Ummm, that isn't a knock-off dude. Before Hasbro released the toys as Transformers, they were toys by the Japanese company Takara, as Diaclone. Diaclone toys are SUPER RARE, so you are really lucky to have that. Do some research, you are bound to find out more, because there isn't enough space on a comment to explain everything.

  • @GODZILLAANDSOUNDWAVE I was joking

  • @harlequin75 That isn't a knock-off. Before Hasbro licensed these toys as Transformers, these toys were in Japan, know as Diaclone. They were made by a Japanese company, called Takara. What you had is the first version of the toy, before it was made into a Transformer.

  • @GODZILLAANDSOUNDWAVE

Bummer. My mom was ahead of the curve and I never appreciated that :-)

  • @harlequin75 Cassette man is not a rip off.It came before Transformers Which is 1984.Cassette man came out at 1983.Cassette man was Soundwaves origin.Hasbro Change his Name to Soundwave and gave him Blue paint and Laserbeak. Before Transformers There was Micro Man which is robts that Transformers into Household Objects. In the toy it had a fake Headset but it was taken off for the transformer version.Instead of Autobots or Decepticons there was Mirco mans instead.

  • @Kenkoyful

Thanks. As I said to the other gentleman, I didn't know this. In my defense, living in Canada in the early 80's where Soundwave was extremely popular, you can imagine what a kid would be thinking when he gets'Cassette Man' :-) I also had the original version of Shockwave.

  • @harlequin75 Lol.Thanks for the reply.Anyway i also live in Canada.Greetings Somewhere At our country :D

  • @harlequin75 actually no it was'nt a cheap knock-off it was actually a diaclone figure the toy that was well let's just the father of transformers what you had was an original diaclone cassette man toy the toy that came out before soundwave what you might not know is that transformers came from japan ! so yeah it's a knock-off it's the original !

  • @darthvenom30567 punctuation marks help alot, buddy.

  • @curlylockproductions oh okay thanks LOL

  • @harlequin75 Cassete man was the microchange(original version) Soundwave, don't think that's bad at all!

  • @harlequin75 thas tough bro..but it happens..when i got mine..it was 1993...when the line was discountined

  • @harlequin75

Hey Cassette man wasn't bad. I had him and the original Soundwave. Cassette man actually came with a headphone and microphone which made him look more like a real tape deck. Did you know the Knockoff Blaster actually had a real radio in it? In some ways the knock offs were better.

  • Wow that commercial looks so ancient now.

  • Awesome!

  • that soundwave looks like in the video game transformers war for cybertron

  • Damn that kid can transform that toy so quickly!!! hahahaha. I had a hard time as an adult!!! LMAO!!

  • The Marvel comic advert was the first TF commercial I saw and this was the first toy commercial I remember seeing. All of the early toy commercials that came shortly after the comic book had that strobe transformation effect in the beginning including starscream and Optimus. Thanks for the post, this is truly rare.

  • Soundwave is animated like shit, but the Autobots look great.

  • @Teshinator I was thinking the same thing as to how shitty Soundwave was animated in the commercial.

  • ok the kids at first were ok but later they just got worst

  • This was probably my favorite transformer when I was a kid. I wish I had kept all my original toys :*(

  • Oh, the 1980s......were we really that silly? Yes. (-_-)

  • It is about f'ing time-an actual English promo for Soundwave. For 6 years I only heard the Japanese version n' I always try to find out what the English version of that 1984 commercial sound like. Thanks for uploading that promo!

  • Good quality there! I had Soundwave (got im from eBay back in July 2009)!

  • soundwave was my first g1 decepticon toy

  • thanks for uploading

  • At 0:07 why is soundwave purple when he was blue in the show?

  • @JetfireandJetstorm12 I think it's just cause of the quality of the video. That or they did some art mistake, like how they put the Autobot symbol on starscream a few times, and stuff like that.

  • Agreed. Thanks, divishion, for the retro flashback.

  • Great commercial!!!
