I really hope these guys come back for the next holiday special episode of the Sing Off next week. They said that some of the best groups from previous seasons would be coming back to do a holiday song, and Street Corner Symphony DEFINITELY fits the bill.

BTW, on the subject of skill, what about that perfectly smooth transition from one beatboxer to the other? All the talk of 'un-practising' is clearly only one part of their story. To me, these guys are like magicians, making what they do appear effortless and off-the-cuff; while secretly being complete masters of the art that conceals art. Their seemingly-unpolished shtick (e.g. no frocks, no synchronised movement, nothing too-overstatedly 'ta-daaa' at the ends of their numbers) is just genius.

@diablo10 OMG fillfjonk is 100% correct, as are intagro and the yolk. Listen to SCS's version of Hey Soul SIster (for example) and marvel at how sweet, smooth, balanced and totally on-pitch this singer keeps the top line throughout. His artistry makes it sound easy; but I can assure you, if you've never tried to do it yourself, that blending the highest part as beautifully as he does takes a lot of skill. I'm with the yolk - IMO his voice is one of the defining characteristics of the SCS sound.

These guys have such a good stage presence. Their energy, their singing, and their overall attitude is just so astounding. I believe they have a VERY good chance at winning. They are amazing.

This group is incredible. Such tight, fine, harmony. The easy transition between the funk and back into the main rhythm was so smooth all I could do was giggle with pleasure. My only critique was that the attack and release on the ending was the slightest bit off. I know it's picking nits, but nits are what sink you in a contest like this.

Committed is so tight and smooth that you ride on their flawless and seemingly effortless notes like the birds ride an air current. Impossible choice IMO!

I agree that Committed is good and easily the second best. But the gap between SCS and them to me is quite profound. SCS seems to not only nail each song to every exact detail, but they actually IMPROVE the original songs on some occasions. SCS is as close to flawless as you can be in a competition like this. You cannot criticize them without splitting hairs and looking foolish, the judges tried but gave up on it. They're just too good!

@militantpoet44 As I said, it was nit picking, but the flaw was indeed there and I don't believe it made me look foolish to state fact. I in no way tried to denigrate their excellent performance. The judges couldn't decide who to cut so all four groups are in the finals. The thing that sets SCS apart for me is the fact that they aren't afraid to take risks and this gives them an edge. When the competition is this close, hairs must be split. We are talking opinion here, and we ALL have one!

OTR were AWESOME! Also, the best enthusiasts for all the performances. They would go NUTS for other groups performances, especially SCS & Committed.
