  • I love this anthem

But France deserved to win the final of the world CUp

  • What a beautiful anthem!

  • man she looked so hot that evening. what an epic event. like this if ya got a pointy.

  • @pepe6666 i sure did i got a pointy

  • I'm American and this is an amazing anthem!

  • I've had to remove a few more insulting or offensive and argumentative comments, please keep it clean folks, and polite. Thanks!

  • she is hot

  • France deserved to win this match, New Zealand deserved to win the tournament as a whole.

  • Behind the girl, we can see Mr Joubert, thank it, without him you would have lost and you know it ;) But you had earthquake and the world cup was in new-zeland so the game was already played... damage.

  • NZ has most wonderful national anthem, and by far the most AWESOME rugby team!!!!! GO ALL-BLACKS!!!!

  • its ace you can hear everyone singing their country's anthem, and people outside probably singing their loudest too

  • I love how NZ embrace their Maori culture in their national anthem. Australians are lacking in this area. Our anthem is dated and we could be better to our indigenous people.

  • just goosebumps

  • So there's two thing New Zealand do better than us Aussies. Play rugby and sing anthems. In my opinion this is the best anthem in the world.

  • i'm from the USA, and I can say that New Zealand has the best rugby, and the nicest national anthem. It is really moving. The hairs on me neck stood up, tears were filling my eye's and i'm not even Kiwi. Not everyday you see that. God defend New Zealand and USA!

  • haters make me laugh enough said. Best anthem. Best team. NZ # 1

  • love Hayley, love All Blacks! from japan

  • fantastic eyes of hayley, fantastic voice and extraordinarious mood in the stadion. Outrageous anthem, too!

    Greetings from germany!!

  • France were absolutely robbed and that comes from an ireland person, i actually was shouting for NZ before match but when france gave that display and were shafted by the ref i was sick. France have the flair NZ dont have, dont get me started on McCaw.!!!!

  • @philipq18 hey buddy have a cry

  • @philipq18 Absolutely spot-on. Good man.

  • From Mexico, I cried when I heard this. New Zealand, I feel your heart. Still mad about Megaupload though. Cheers.

  • I'd tap that, :thumbs up:

  • The Best Anthem ever! (this is coming from an Aussie!!)

  • sings like an american....

  • NZ and Australia are very british like also.

  • @ThrashMetalOutlaw89 whatever "british is"......those isles used to have incredible cultural variety...but UK state has made most conformists!

  • @ThrashMetalOutlaw89 yeah, what ever

  • I Honestly do not think NZ deserved to win the rugby world cup,i think the irish or french should have.

  • @ThrashMetalOutlaw89 nope welsh should have....thanks for remembering the old brittonic ppl

  • @ThrashMetalOutlaw89 Nah NZ all the way, though the Irish were awesome, especially when they beat Aussie!

  • ridiculous, how can a team that loses deserve to win the world cup? no one deserved it more then the All Blacks

  • sad wales couldnt join you.....welsh national anthem and new zealand...what a powerful mix! :D

  • Can someone reply a link for a traditional new zealand music for a project in school :PPPP

  • 1.26 , the big fella with the hat has tears down his face, shows how much it means

  • Lol there is a video lol

  • Hell yea!!

  • @rawiri1969 Can you not read? The matches they won they won fairly, which is actually the norm in rugby, and hence deserved to be in the final by the criterion of having beaten the other teams trying to make it there. They hadn't played to their potential to that point, and that somehow justifies N.Z.'s Paddy O'Brien choosing the most corrupt and malliable referee to deny France the Cup? Hang your head in shame.

  • @loopstheloop oh puhlease, we won fair and square - France eye gauged etc and played the dirty game they are renowned for and we didn't complain, we beat them fair and square. Your whinging only relfects on you as a poor loser.

  • @loopstheloop There is footage of the eye gauge, that you chose not to see it shows how clearly biased you are. Envy is ugly, and whether you are French or not you are still a sore loser.

  • @jaineynzed Link it in. I honestly did not see it. Can you explain the Kaino incident with the context of the Laws? There were 5 offences there, and the ref saw them all, but refused to blow the whistle. And if I were envious I'd be envious surely of a decent team that won on merit. As it stands I admire only the French for how they play the game, and how they managed not to moan or complain at all after this fix. YOU LOT were still whinging from 4 years before and a correct decision! Haaaa

  • @loopstheloop okay it wont let me link it but if you search 'richie mccaw eye gauge' the clip should come up. As for the rest of your comment, see the first comment under the video and you are the one whinging. ^_~

  • @jaineynzed I'm not French, so I'm not whinging- however, if you want to talk about sore losers, you sent endless death threats (and YT videos!) to a referee who made a correct decision in Cardiff in 2007 in a match you deserved to lose in any case, whereas the French just accepted that you chose and bought the referee for this final and haven't complained at all. They are simply superior to you in every conceivable way. Just pointing that out as a neutral observer, mate. All the best.

  • @loopstheloop you can whinge without being French, I didn't send any deaths threats sorry, nor do I know anybody who did. It's a bit sad when you generalise the actions of a few losers and apply it to a whole country in order to make your argument. Hardly that of a neutral observer. The French are good, just not as good us SA, OZ or us.

  • @jaineynzed The French are far superior to you, and not just on the rugby pitch. Let's just say in every conceivable way they are better than you. Ask that referee how many death threats he received! Or do a sweep of YT to see moronic Maoris and Clueless kiwis having an endless moan about a law of the game they don't actually understand! The biggest moaners in the business!!! What about Cardiff, when you sulked and did your phony dance in the changing rooms (with a camera)?? haaa...such a shower

  • @jaineynzed Australia were bet by us Irish and we have a some terrible players, we play france year in year out in highly intensive games and always lose to them, they were basically managerless, coaching themselves and were robbed. Southern hemisphere rugby is way overrated!!

  • @philipq18 no buddy , aussies biggest mistake was not giving enough respect. If it's way over rated why do the all blacks go over their and regulary win?, and don't carry on about cheating, that's all i hear sounds like broken records, year after year

  • @philipq18 Ireland have never ever beaten the All Blacks ever I think you are the one who is over rating someone

  • @philipq18 "Southern hemisphere rugby is way overrated" - now the truth comes out. You do sound very jealous. The record of "Southern Hemisphere" rugby over "Northern Hemisphere" rugby stands for itself and it can't be explained away by crying foul over refs. Bad calls go against all teams in all sports.

  • god damn now

    that's an anthem

  • Well, this is a very beautiful national anthem sung by an amazing singer. There is another video of Hayley's performance when she sing "The Star-Spangled Banner"...I hope one day she could perform "Indonesia Raya" too :p

  • Beautiful country, beautiful anthem, Maori and English.Amazing,

  • One of the finest anthems in the world...Forever All Blacks!!!!

  • Oh my god its so amazing, but its make me sob. Excellent done Hayley.

  • Great job Hayley. This made me swell with pride and I'm a proud American.

  • God defend New Zealand from the Irish at home and Abroad

  • wow, i love that anthem!

  • What a wonderful anthem and I'm an American and think the world of our anthem, yet this invokes the name of God as protector and I love that.

  • Wow guys, I'm speechless! I remember I had chills while watching this.. Still the same emotion right now. Seriously, NZ has one of the most wonderful anthems in the world. Greetings from France. <3

  • most beautiful country in the world>

  • Epic.

  • New Zealand has one of the most beautiful anthems in the world; whoever wrote the tune has some talent!

  • Amazing

  • Was für eine unglaubliche Stimme!

  • Ah! The All Blacks! :D

  • Forgive me for asking and perhaps it's been said before but why is the first verse sung in Maori? Surely if NZ is a democratic country the first verse should be sung in a language that the majority understand. After that we can sing the second verse in the second official language of New Zealand which only a minority understand. That surely is in keeping with the principles of democracy.

  • @mdawson The Maori were there first so they sing first in Maori

  • @mdawson Well, it's because Helen Clark, the prime minister that looked like a troll, thought it would be "absolutely fantastic" to have the first verse in Maori (?!?!) Did she ask us if we wanted it changed? Probably not, but if you can see when Hayley satrts singing the English version, the singing from the crowd gets much louder. In some different clips, some All Blacks don't even sing the Maori version, but belt out the lyrics to the English verse. Hope that helped.

  • @KiwiGalNextDoor

New Zealand seems to have followed South Africa, when they changed their anthem to sing in African languages before Afrikaans and English. The main difference is that Africans are a majority in RSA. At the same time, most of the rugby fans in RSA are Afrikaners, and the singing of the Afriokaans portion (Die Stem) is much louder - it is to be expected. Both RSA and NZ have very beautiful anthems regardless.

  • @marcellin20 Maori verse: E Ihowā Atua, O ngā iwi mātou rā Āta whakarangona; Me aroha noa Kia hua ko te pai; Kia tau tō atawhai; Manaakitia mai Aotearoa

    In English translates to- "

O Lord, God, of all people Listen to us, Cherish us May good flourish, May your blessings flow. Defend Aotearoa

  • I'm from US, but can I just say that NZ has the most heartwarming anthem ever?

  • @AniRemi Me too! I like New Zealand's anthem better than ours!

  • I've removed the worst of the insulting and offensive argument that two people were conducting on here, please keep it respectful folks, thanks.

  • @hwivid Thanks . That will all pass soon. We may have a world short of perfection now, but this is a house of cards compared to the love that is about to welcome a visitor who

has worked the hardest for each of us to arrive in our new home.

  • @hwivid can you remove more loopstheloop is racist white trash and philipq18 is a winging lil bitch

  • Is it just me or does Hayley Westernra get hotter with age

  • @Aussiephil99 She does! XD

  • LEAVE NZ ALONE WE WON THE CUP FEAR AND SQUARE YOU DID NOT GO THROUGH TWO DEADLY DISASTERS IN ONLY A FOUR MOUNTHS

  • she smiled at the start knowing she will own the anthem :p

  • Hayley Westenra was born in 1987, along with the Rugby world cup. The connection made with her singing the national anthem makes me cry.

  • wish the English anthem had this much passion! i love how just from this you can feel the whole country united together

  • @hyperactivebunny1 Whats wrong with God Save the Queen, as a pround Aussie I still ahve to admit its Advance Far and Oh Canada that needs serious reform.

  • @Lukeclout i am Canadian and must admit we should go back to the Maple Leaf Forever.I think you Aussie should change yours to I am Australian by the Seekers. The Poms could go for I vow to thee my country.I think you would be pushed to find a better singer than Hayley. What really pisses me off is when singers put their own interpritation on their countries anthems.

  • Beautiful anthem; beautiful singer; beautiful country; great rugby team. I was fortunate to have seen the All Blacks play in the 95 World Cup final in RSA, and to actually see some silver ferns on a field trip close to Rorotua. Love NZ.

  • A kiwi overseas at the moment, in a country where rugby isnt popular at all, it was actually the first game i got to see live, the rest i was texted updates in class, i travelled 2 hours to watch this game in a pub and have never sung that song louder or prouder... Love you NZ forever my home

  • Great!

  • i love NZ very much!!!

    i am a Taiwanese!

    L&P is so great!!!

  • dont remember her being this hot

  • Incredible performance! What passion! If only US citizens would sing ours with that same passion!!

  • @bebopmomma Agreed, however, we must admit the US anthem is kinda difficult to sing, and is a very soloist-friendly one, one of my favorite interpretations: Mariah Carey. Greetings!!!

  • @gospelnews123 Yep, got to admit, ours is hard to sing. This one is very cool. :)

  • Wow.

  • Thanks for your sharing...

  • If the French deserved to win this one, single match, then surely the French would use the same argument to say that they didn't deserve to win any other match during the tournament?

  • I'm Romanian, but this almost made me cry. Great anthem, great singer, great country. Much love for New Zealand and its Kiwis!

  • She's amazing! Wish I could sing like her! :)

  • Superb. Makes me very proud!

  • How does she do it ?? Absolutely unequalled !!!

  • Guard Pacific's triple star!

  • Whatever nationality you have, this one is one of the most wonderful national anthems. When Hayley Westenra or Elizabeth Marvelly perform it I get goosebombs and suddenly stop listening heavy stuff for a while...

  • I was there. It was an awesome night despite who you're supporting.

  • @philippesella France didnt even desreve to be in the final, it should of been wales in the final

  • @philippesella have you forgotten that we beat you twice now in the same tournament? what about the Wales game? you just scrapped through with an undeserved win to the final...

  • @philippesella Well, i think that New Zealand and France are even now, remember the forward pass in the RWC 2007 against France.

  • Is it just me, or her voice changer compared to her youngster voice? (the old one was better)

  • wish our anthem had this much passion. well done NZ you deserved it! from your friend across the tasman!

  • @youngjgj The only thing that is obvious here is that you are tone deaf.

  • For the good of rugby union I'm glad NZ won this.

  • Proud to be a new zealand!!!

  • congratulations to All Blacks from Czech republic It was epic championship :-)

  • oh Hayley, ich liiebe diese Stimme.

  • Which fella would dislike this? The 7 people who dislike this need HELP!

  • @h7p10 then move to south Africa then dude

  • @petnzme01 Nah I think we should just change it .......... dude

  • My favourite anthem, and its best singer. And I'm an Australian.

  • nice voice , cute woman , nice anthem . greetings to you my Kiwi's friends !!!

  • Go Hayley Go, You are so multicultural,

You know you are loved by the Kiwis, the Irish, the Welsh, the English, The Americans,The Italians, The Japanese, The Chinese, The Taiwanese,

  • @h7p10 ytou got to be kidding.. its trhe best.... better then australias.. even the aussies hate there own :P

  • I suppose it's very unpatriotic of me as an Australian, but I much prefer New Zealand's national anthem over ours. And Hayley's rendition was beautiful.

  • Fantastic national anthem even if I'm French ! ;)

  • @Hansthekiller I am French too, and I agree that it was a very moving moment. This one and La Marseillaise are the two most motivating anthems I know

  • Great moment!

  • Beautiful song sang by beautiful voice with the amazing crowds!

  • Aside from it being an awesome performance all round, I thought it was great that she didn't go for the silly, high, 'look at me' note at the end - she just sung it traditionally. Fantastic.

  • @alexanderdb9 my thoughts exactly. Brought tears to my eye the first time and just now when I listened to it again :)

  • Hot doowg

  • a tearjerker for sure

  • @h7p10 Depends on the rendition I guess, my favourite would have to be Cindy Ruakere's version although I really like this one too.

  • @KCHIEFTAN I just like looking at her sing, So beautiful

  • proud to b a kiwi!!..missing the rwc atmosphere=(...but what a pleasure it was to witness sumthng dat will go down history in nz!!all black yo rock!!!

  • *in history@MrBooyah22

  • I was at Wine and Foods Gizzy with 5000 others. I've never seen so many Kiwi's stop what they were doing, all stand in unison to face the big screen with hands on hearts and belt out the anthem like they did that night. For a typically reserved population of spectators, this was a truly special moment in New Zealands history.

  • She is very good, and that's coming from an Atheist!

  • She's really cute

  • Shes so beautiful and so is her voice (:

  • @MrSteveJayes

You serious? Im Australian, but have great admiration for the NZ anthem, this is probably the best performance of the anthem i have heard..

  • I ♥ that the ALL BLACKS WON!!!!!!!!

  • I hate our anthem.

  • @RoflwaffleSi

Why? I think it is a beautiful and stirring anthem and I'm an Aussie!

  • @pckid888 I'm an atheist, i almost find it offensive because of the fact that it's forced down my throat.

  • @RoflwaffleSi I'm also an atheist, and this is a beautiful rendition of a song that unites the people of this country in a time of joy. I dont feel as if my whole set of beliefs are being infringed by an anthem. Grow a pair of balls and stop stirring shit.

  • @waltkowalski123 I don't mind the Maori version that much because i don't understand a word of Maori lol, but the English version is not a beautiful song at all and i don't find that it unites anyone. i don't really care about the anthem but i personally have a hatred for it.

  • @RoflwaffleSi Come on dude, I am an atheist too but this is a beautiful song, regardless of whether you believe in a deity or not. There is no need to just take our beliefs to ridiculous levels and insist our rights are infringed upon because the word "god" offends you. And there is no law forcing you to sing it if you don't want to.

Don't get a chip on your shoulder about religion to the point where you cannot enjoy a song, you will only lose face.

  • @SeanACampbell actually there sorta is a law about it, although it's not a law it was a rule in my school, we had to sing it and if we didn't we weren't allowed to go. i never sang it. i may take my beliefs to ridiculous levels, but not as ridiculous as Christians do, i don't think i take my beliefs to ridiculous levels personally if you compare them to many religious people. With or without religion infesting the lyrics of our anthem i still don't like it as a song either way.

  • @RoflwaffleSi On this point I can agree with you, it is ridiculous to demand that people sing any song. I have similar problems with people in the United States being required to say the pledge of allegiance, it is patriotism taken to ridiculous levels.

The only point I wanted to make here is that we need to be careful not to take our positions too far too early, if you want to have any support in making the change. I believe that the demise of religion is coming regardless but lets focus on

  • @RoflwaffleSi the bigger issues and work our way down. For example, the prayer they have in the opening of parliament is hardly secular, it is not even non-denominational - it directly mentions Jesus and recognizes him as "our lord" which I think should go.

The song I am not so worried about, because it makes very general references to god without actively identifying a particular religion. Granted, it still makes the reference to god which isn't exactly secular, but it isn't as bad as prayer.

  • @SeanACampbell that doesn't mean it doesn't need to be dealt with.

  • @RoflwaffleSi I'm not saying don't deal with it in good time, im simply saying lets not nitpick over minor things where there are more serious issues to deal with. Pick your battles carefully in other words.

  • @SeanACampbell i battle everything i disagree with whenever i can. the national anthem that my school tried to force me to sing once a week or more doesn't seem very minor to me. i hate our anthem, i will never sing it and i hope it will be changed to something that doesn't suck.

  • @RoflwaffleSi if you dont like it then why comment? keep your comments to yourself just saying... its our anthem and we love it! Go ALL BLACKS!

  • @stuwieNZ That is the most stupid advice i have ever heard, also who is we? because i know many people who dislike it as much as me, if i keep my opinions and comments to myself then nothing will ever change.

  • @RoflwaffleSi This is a National anthem u twat, how rude and disrespectful you are! why an earth will their be a change what is the percentage of that happening be realistic... look and compare the likes to dislikes..

  • @stuwieNZ Do you think i care if the majority of people who watched this video like it? it's my fucking anthem as well and i think that it's a dreadful, and offensive even piece of crap that needs to be abolished and replaced with something better. Why would i respect something i hate? riddle me that.

  • @SeanACampbell And i can't just be like "oh whatever a few lyrics are about god" when the entire fucking song is about god. it disgusts me to be honest.

  • @RoflwaffleSi Way to blow a small issue way out of proportion - there are far bigger religious issues facing society at the moment to worry about than a general mention of "god" in a song.

  • @SeanACampbell it's the national anthem of my country that i was forced to sing, the entire song is about our fucking faith in god defending us. i deal with the other issues but i think this is also an important one.

  • @RoflwaffleSi Because its a Nation's anthem and saying you hate it as well as it being dreadful is being disrespectful and inconsiderate.. you can hate all you want theirs nothing wrong with that. you dont have to respect it either but your just thinking about yourself and not having the decency to think wisely about the fact its offensive and inappropriate towards others...

  • @stuwieNZ And you aren't thinking about yourself and how it effects people with the same views as myself?
