Sorry about that, I hadn't read the entire text by seenoevil760. I understand the good point that this person makes. It only makes good sense that the aircraft and the pilot be in top form. Pilots and aircraft should be required to conform to the strictest standards for health and maintenance, respectively. Perhaps we should take another look at how and how often we evaluate both, with emphasis on the type of flying being done.
Absolutely 56 is not too old to fly aircraft. How many 20 year olds have been killed in air crashes / car crashes? More often, when it comes to older aircraft it's the aircraft itself that contributes that most significant factors in a crash... newer turbine engine aircraft that are well maintained, that's a different story. As important, you have to look at the type of flying/driving whatever being done. Airshow flying is inherently more dangerous than an airline run.
I was at the air show with my family. It was a great day that ended with the worst tragedy I have ever seen, and I hope my two young sons will ever witness again. The men and women who volunteer their time and talent are heroes. Deepest sympathy to the family of this pilot. His biography is amazing. No denying he was a great American.

I'm totally not bad mouthing the guy, but there should definatly be a limit on the age of stunt airmen especially at an airshow packed full of people. Trained or not even the slightest mistake can mean death for you and spectators. If your not fit to fly then don't fly and you cant say he was fit to fly espcially since he crashed. Im sure these shows will have procedures to make dam sure this does not happen again.

Me and my family was there as well - I don't know why my eyes choose to follow the plane that was going right - i watched him during his low desent, him hit the ground and the explosion - so very sad and heartbreaking - I have to admit - I did cry - and have this image in my head that i can't seem to get out.
