  • Thank you for this video. My Father was stationed there for a few years. And i was born there in 1960. My Family lived off base. I will have to talk to my Father and find out where we lived. I hope to go back someday. My Family loved it there. Thank you,

  • We lived at 101 American Village from about Feb 1958-1959. Unfortunately you didn't go down the street far enough. If my memory serves me right, 101 was the first house in line, if it's still standing.

  • Hey, John, nice sharing old memories with you on Facebook... Tom ;)

  • I lived in #110. Moved out in March 2010. I guess I was the last occupant. Thats for the video-brings back memories.

  • Wow... I lived there in the late 80's before moving on base. Went to YEES then YHS. Thanks for the memories.

  • My pleasure. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I just thought someone like you would love to see American Village as it is today...

Northern Village has mostly been torn down and new Japanese style homes were buit there.

I may go back when it gets a little warmer to shoot some again. My mother still lives pretty close-by so I can try again.

  • We lived behind Bamboo Village in a place they called Northern village. Our house was the last one on the left off that "main drag" you described before you got to the apartment building. It had a kindergarden on the first floor. Lived there 26 months before moving to Yokota for our last year in Japan. 1976-1979. Thanks for sharing this! Leo and Sharon

  • Pretty much like it was 30 years ago when I was there. I lived in #407 ( I think it was).

Looks like some units have air conditioning and modern windows, neither of which we had. When the tremors hit the old window panes would make a helluva racket. Loved the short deep bath tub. We had no phone for the two years I was there, but there was a public phone booth about 150 yds away. Two yen, I think, to make a call. Good times

  • Wow, John, my house was 105, I could see it. thanks alot for taking the video. Mike Skidmore
