Lydia Lunch sucks to me...the yeah yeah yeahs are awesome to me.....to me they have an important part in my life.....Lydia Lunch doesn't......so why does she get to decide what is good and what is not.
I suppose she has experience to say things, but I don't see how her words apply to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their style, while similar to other artists is rather original in my opinion. I'm glad to hear harsher vocals over small instrumentals, and that is what they tend to put out.
Now, Lunch's words aimed at other bands, generic groups that aren't even trying to be original is what I really think she is aiming at, the creator of this video is completely off center with his judge ment.

I suppose she has experience to say things, but I don't see how her words apply to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their style, while similar to other artists is rather original in my opinion. I'm glad to hear harsher vocals over small instrumentals, and that is what they tend to put out.
Now, Lunch's words aimed at other bands, generic groups that aren't even trying to be original is what I really think she is aiming at, the creator of this video is completely off center with his judge ment.

Because she turned down major labels throughout her entire career in order to do exactly what she wanted to do. If it's the clip I think it was originally, she's not saying anything about the Yeahs at all, I think it's more to point out who's better at articulating, well...anything.
And she's right. There's a lot of kids who think they can start a band and are badass because they have a tattoo and used to skateboard, and they join the Warped Tour.

In fact, she keeps pretty quiet about the state of the music industry these days, she's more into her books and spoken word. It's not like she's running about in the streets, accosting strangers about the state of the music business.

I love the Yeahs, but check out Lydia's solo stuff, like Atomic Bongos, or for that matter, the Bush Tetras' Too Many Creeps (they're the background band music to this track.)
They're both on here. And influenced the Yeahs, BIG TIME.

As far as The Strokes: I liked the music until I read about their origins. In a nutshell, (about the strokes leader and others) if you grew up with so much privilege, could get the best drugs, hop-scotch around the globe with celebrities and put your cock in any orifice you desire, you'd probably make great music too.
