This scene actually fits with the Shadows' plans. The last thing they'd want is to have the various races in Star Trek living peacefully together instead of fighting each other as to the Shadows, this would inhibit their evolution. As for destroying the boom box with the music, I guess whoever is in the Shadow vessel hates that song, lol.

No, that's just the Shadow's normal "scream" sound effect, sampled from the show. It sounds a bit off because I attempted to filter out other sound effects that were mixed in with it. It was still the cleanest sample of it that I could find, though.
